Wow…Good on Gould...he is spot on with his assessment....reading the article there are similar message overtones to what Taylor wants from the WT....one can only wonder who Gould is referring to....haha

Gould can also hold a grudge and is never afraid to throw his ego around, if he is so convinced he knows where it is going wrong then he should name names, not insinuate.
Didnt Gould have a slanging match with Gallen a season or 2 ago re: Gallen being chosen for Origin?

Gus is spot on.
It's been no secret for some time that Between Farah, Bird and Gallen - The Halves barely see any ball….

I was surprised when he said it, not because of the opinion, but because he felt compelled to share it.

Obviously, he was referring to Gallen, Farah and maybe Bird, Morris, Jennings. I agree with him, wouldn't mind seeing all of them gone.

But the halves are the big difference… what halves do we have that can 'own' games like that?

I'm a bit surprised Daley is escaping criticism too though!

There are a team of Young Fellas like Frizzell, Bird and co. ready to go.
I though Maloney and Reynolds were worth building around. Josh Reynolds could be great off the bench.

It's been more about the Guys who've had their pants pulled down getting retribution than it has been about building a team and culture than can win.

And I agree, There are far too many guys there that are there for the wrong reason (Or no visible reason at all) - Hopefully this will see NSWRL and all the "Old Boys" associated with it move on and worry more about winning than all the free lunches they get to go to.

Brian Smith and Gallen had a doozy FTB

Fulton should not be allowed anywhere near SOO.

…and I agree 100% with Gould's comments. Unfortunately, Daley will stick loyal until he is gone next year.

Bottom line is QLD had Thurston, Cronk, Smith, Inglis and Slater.

There great players in key positions.

NSW didnt have great players in key positions.

Spot on Eddie in regards to Thurston. Thurston is the difference between the 2 sides, throw him into the NSW with his pinpoint kicking, near-perfect goalkicking, never say die attitude and commitment and NSW win those close games that they have been losing. He is a champion of the highest order.
Once he retires Qld don't have a lot of quality ready to step into his shoes, so we will see how they go then. Sometimes there is a player that is just too good for his opposition (Thurston, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods), not much you can do about it unfortunately.

The biggest thing that's lead to them losing 10 of the last 11 series hasn't been QLD, it's been their own ignorance and pig headedness. For yrs they've picked players who weren't deserving, and leave out ones that are. And then they scratch their heads and wonder why they don't get results. Farah is a perfect example. When he actually deserved selection, NSW didn't want a bar of him, yet when there are better options running around, he's the first chosen and is told he'd get picked even if he played NSW cup. Daley and Fulton have got to go, it's non negotiable. Daley doesn't instil any hunger in players by declaring his teams before round one and Bozo's favouritism towards Manly players would be hilarious if it wasn't pathetic. They both got what they deserved, and as long as either of them are apart of the team I hope NSW never win another series.

I was glad to hear his comments last night, but really, to say what he did and not go on with it was kind of weak. If he wants to talk tough, then let it out mate! Nothing will change unless people with some sort of sway lead the chorus.

The performance of Farah and Gallen had nothing to do with why we lost they both played well, and I was surprised by the comments from Gould straight after that match a real low blow - assuming they were the leadership players he was referring to knowing that this will be their last series
Apart from having the nuclueus of a great side - the Qlders rarely ever bag their own, just the opposition, and the occasional time they do lose they never credit the opposition they are always robbed.
Funnily enough in most close games we seem to be the ones that get the the tough calls and our response - we cop it sweet bag our own and praise the QLDers even though we all think they get away with way too much. Maybe that's what's wrong with our culture

Farah tried to find his halves last night, but more often than not he had to throw a cut out pass to get past Gallen or Bird.

I wouldnt blame Gallen and Farah. I would blame the men that put them in the team. If the right players got chosen, we wouldnt be having this discussion. While Daley and Fulton have anything to do with NSW, they will continue on that downward spiral.

One thing for Gould to say they have to give the control of the team to the spine and take it out of the hands of a few old hard heads, but the bottom line we have never had the quality in the halves to give them the keys to the car.

I think Gallen,Farah and a couple of others have gone on a season to long but as Chris said they do not pick the team. The Blues keep getting beaten because they are up against one of the best spines to ever run around.

I don't believe we will beat Queensland for a least three years.
At that time, Smith, Cronk and Thurston will have retired.
We should now be identifying young players who will be able to build a Team around.
We need to concentrate on these players as the way forward.
Queensland will not have the same calibre of player as the abovementioned again….
