Your're allowed to have your say and most understand you support the JV, which is the priority.

I always think of Frank Stanton, Steve Martin, Ian Thompson, Russell Gartner and Shannon Nevin who came to play or coach at the mighty Tigers. I accept many Wests fans dislike Manly but most at tne Tigers feel differently because of those links.

why 8 at cambo ? nowhere near our leagues clubs or COE and makes no sense. We may aswell train at parramatta and play at kogarah oval ...

There is a leagues club attached to the ground and a railway station and a carpark. What's the COE got to do with were we play.

It is nowhere near the Leagues club of our owners.

I have yet to find out when Wests Ashfield sold Wests Campbelltown. I know it is now part of the Wests Group Macarthur but who owns that. Not being smart. Wests Ashfield bought the leagues club at Campbelltown when the Magpies moved there. I have not been able to find anything that says they sold it.

Mate really good question, I have just spent the last 30 mins or so researching this, I can find that they are owned by Wests Group Macarthur and that the independent board was setup in 1996. What I can't find is who owns Wests Group or whether Ashfield has any interest in that group.

I got in touch with some knowledgeable Magpie supporters. They are pretty sure that Wests Ashfield gifted the club back to the Campbelltown community around 2000. Bad mistake if they did as that club and the Wests Macarthur Group are worth more than Wests Ashfield.

I researched this very topic about a year ago but I didn't keep notes. The above link sets out the general story, which I expect you have read. Wests bought or took over Campbelltown City Kangaroos in 1987 and rebranded as Wests Magpies, per the intention to move to Macarthur from Lidcombe. In 1996 the club elected to set up an independent board and separate themselves as an entity from Wests Ashfield, i.e. Wests Macarthur Group. They then went on to amalgamate several times with a tennis club, golf club and then country club. The sick part is actually that the Country Club aspect of Wests Mac Group is a sponsor of GWS Giants.

I did other reading without keeping notes, I am pretty sure Wests Ashfield didn't gift the club at Campbo, so to speak, they permitted them (or perhaps even couldn't stop them) to set up an independent board, and from then on they became their own Wests Campbo entity.

I do know that Wests Ashfield has 0% stake in Wests Macarthur now, they are totally separate entities. Might as well compare them to Wests Newcastle.

Wests Campbelltown Leagues Club Involvement
Wests Campbelltown Leagues was established in 1987 when
Wests Ashfield Leagues purchased the former Campbelltown City Kangaroos Club.

In 1996, Wests Ashfield Leagues Club and Wests Campbelltown Leagues Club
became separate entities.

Wests Campbelltown Leagues Club is no longer involved in the
boards or day to day operations of Wests Ashfield, WSDRLFC or the Wests Tigers.

Wests Campbelltown Leagues Club do contribute to Rugby League
in the Macarthur by providing major sponsorship of the
Wests Tigers Macarthur JRL and Country Rugby League Group 6 JRL. (Grass Roots kids Footy)

They also provide assistance in the form of a club grant to assist
in the running of Western Suburbs Magpies Junior Reps and

That also clears up the seperation of Ashfield and Campbelltown. It did infact occur in 1996, just no information on how or why.

It is also quite interesting that Wests Magpies Pty Ltd hold the 90% share in Wests Tigers (Wests Magpies is owned 66% Wests Ashfield and 33% WSDRLC. I know it doesn't make much difference, just found it interesting.
