Not trying to start a Forum meltdown , but is it worth putting money into Leichhardt if you can't fix the issues of easy transport to and from games

Transport is not an issue to Leichhardt. Buses and Light rail very close.

Good grief Happy, are you after a tar and feathering?? I don't mind your suggestion but realistically changes will be modest.

IMO you go all the way and make it a ground we could play 12 games a season from or just leave it as is ......their is no middle ground in my opinion

If people are SERIOUS about this whole "we need a place to call home" stuff (yet to see a good argument for it), then IMO the answer is 12 @ LO, 12 @ CSS. I would love to know the $$ cost of abandoning ANZ/Bankwest. At the end of the day, Tigers are averaging less than 20k and both grounds can accomodate our average ground.

Just to be clear, I favour 3 grounds.

Absolutely - there is no trouble with transport.

OR Parking - the only problem is people want to park under the grandstand instead of walking 10 -15 min.

The new Leichhardt oval
Incorporating a rowing club for access and a Marina built off to the side to bring the rich and famous $$$
There could also be a hall of fame for Rugby league and Rowing
A restaurant and bar precinct
Remove the hill at Leichhardt oval and place it opposite the main stadium
Imagine this stadium on the bay
It would be world class

It could be used by many sporting clubs but only one NRL club
The Wests Tigers

Anyone know if the light rail network made its way to Leichhardt?

Leichhardt North Light Rail - 650m from Leichhardt Oval.

Not the new light rail that goes through the CBD to the Eastern Suburbs. It’s the older Inner West Light Rail that runs from Central through Darling Harbour, Star Casino and then onto the Inner West which includes Leichhardt North. Yes just 650 metres from Leichhardt Oval. However captaincy is limited. You’d be lucky to get 5,000 in and out on game day.

That’s the sort of stadium that is required to attract new members and sponsors. It’s not the rusted on Rugby League fans who will always turn up, it’s how to attract new fans and sponsors. I can see corporates inviting clients to that sort of ground or a version of it.

If only the parramatta leagues club was 100 metres to the east(underwater) it would be ideal.

I think willow was being sarcastic, in reference to another post.

Oh OK, missed that one. Doh !!!

No I was being serious. Haven't had cause to go past Leichhardt or into the city for a couple of years now so I had no idea whether transport there had improved.

I really dont think access to Leichhardt is as bad as people make out. Buses and light rail nearby. Im a Leichhardt member and drive to games and never have a problem. Park at Orange Grove School, in and out fine.

100%. Takes me longer to get out of ANZ and BankWest carparks than it does to get away from Leichhardt Oval.

Oh sorry, I didn't know anyone who didn't know Leichhardt had light rail. Esp Tigers supporters.

No good - no parking.

There is plenty of parking if you reclaim one of the other fields on the waterfront
Buses to the left
Car park to the right
You just need to get it past the residents

Surely everyone realises there's zero chance of any more money being spent on stadiums in the current climate? Nrl has zero bargaining power. The government has other priorities for the foreseeable future, and rightfully so!

Wasnt there talk from the govt about a $3bill infrastructure program? Any type of construction would mean jobs.
