why 8 at cambo ? nowhere near our leagues clubs or COE and makes no sense. We may aswell train at parramatta and play at kogarah oval ...

There is a leagues club attached to the ground and a railway station and a carpark. What's the COE got to do with were we play.

It is nowhere near the Leagues club of our owners.

I have yet to find out when Wests Ashfield sold Wests Campbelltown. I know it is now part of the Wests Group Macarthur but who owns that. Not being smart. Wests Ashfield bought the leagues club at Campbelltown when the Magpies moved there. I have not been able to find anything that says they sold it.

I don't think it was a case of sold...more transfer of directors to be independently run outside of Wests Ashfield..

I know Wests Cambo gave up there board seat to Wests Ashfield in leiu of any financial responsibility to Wests Tigers..

They still are financially involved in what is now Wests Tigers Macarther junior leagues

So do Wests Ashfield actually still own the club but its run independently?

No clue

What does the Leagues Club at Campbelltown have to do with Wests Tigers?

Read the last few posts above. They were also on the board of Wests Tigers but gave their vote back to Wests Ashfield. They also were once one the partners in bankrolling WT but gave that away to focus on bankrolling the juniors in the area,

They do not contribute to the WT. End of story.

Nor do Balmain.

I never claimed that they did, nor did I make a point that their club was near their ground. Ill ask my original question to you......What does Wests Campbelltown have to do with the Wests Tigers.

Ill help you....nothing.

They're listed as a corporate partner on the Wests tigers webpage. And fund the Wests tigers MacArthur juniors.

As do Balmain to Balmain Juniors. Wests Campbelltown have zero to do with WT. No board seats, no financial contribution.

Different ownership

got proof - put up or shut up. Wests Ashfield bought the club when Wests Magpies moved to Campbelltown. i have seen no proof that it was ever sold. As Geo says the directors were set up independently of Wests Ashfield but that doesn't mean they don't own it.

Mate, this is a discussion forum. It is a place to discuss all aspects of Wests Tigers. YOU ASKED if WEsts CAmpbelltown is owned by Wests Ashfield and the answer is NO. Pure and simple. Not sure why you are so invested in the answer and if you dont like the answer, you possibly shouldn't ask it on a public discussion forum. As far as "put up or shut up"....I couldn't give a rats what you would like me to do. I am a fan of WT and I will continue to discuss aspects of the club that interest me. That is, I will continue to discuss what I feel like discussing, whether you want me to "shut up" because the facts hurt your precious feelings or not.

FWIW ***"Wests League Club is owned and operated by Wests Group Macarthur"***.

Hope you are ok with this bombshell.

Exactly.....so are Ryde Eastwood part of Wests Tigers? Should we make a decision on where we play based on proximity to Ryde Eastwood LEagues club?

Not sure why this is such a controversial topic. Wests Campbelltown have nothing to do with WT. It was their choice.

Mate really good question, I have just spent the last 30 mins or so researching this, I can find that they are owned by Wests Group Macarthur and that the independent board was setup in 1996. What I can't find is who owns Wests Group or whether Ashfield has any interest in that group.

why 8 at cambo ? nowhere near our leagues clubs or COE and makes no sense.

Mate really good question, I have just spent the last 30 mins or so researching this, I can find that they are owned by Wests Group Macarthur and that the independent board was setup in 1996. What I can't find is who owns Wests Group or whether Ashfield has any interest in that group.

They don’t.

Can you post it, its behind a paywall

I’m in m phone. The pertinent part “ The nearby Wests Leagues, a club once owned by the Wests Ashfield licensed club and a former share holder in the joint venture, may be wooed back to the nest.”

The cobwebs are being dusted off plans to rejuvenate Manly's dilapidated Brookvale base into a sparkling 20,000-seater stadium as the Sea Eagles loom as the biggest beneficiary of Peter V'landys' push for up to four "mini-Bankwest Stadiums" to be built in Sydney.

Manly chief executive Stephen Humphreys confirmed the club is already sitting on designs for a total revamp of the famous northern beaches ground, which could be the first built under V'landys' suburban dream.

Peter Sterling says Cameron Smith has been overtaken as the NRL's best hooker.

The Australian Rugby League Commission boss confirmed on Monday the code would campaign for three, potentially four, boutique grounds, to be modelled on the $360 million Bankwest Stadium, lauded as the best rugby league viewing experience in the country.

V'landys will meet with the NSW government later this week after Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced on Sunday she had scrapped the $810 million redevelopment of ANZ Stadium in favour of job creation programs.

Rugby league's most powerful administrator wants to divert the money to suburban grounds, which would be razed and rebuilt entirely rather than redeveloped. They would each have a capacity of up to 20,000.

Manly's Lottoland, Netstrata Jubilee Stadium at Kogarah, Campbelltown Stadium and Penrith's home base are in line for overhauls if the ANZ Stadium money can be diverted into multi-use suburban venues.

If we can get little Bankwest Stadiums in four different locations in Sydney, then they become that community's venue

Peter V'landys
"Bankwest Stadium is the best stadium to watch the game," V'landys said. "If we can get little Bankwest Stadiums in four different locations in Sydney, then they become that community's venue. That generates tribalism and it also provides so many uses for that facility.

"Why not knock them over and start them again and build them like a smaller scale version of Bankwest? It will rejuvenate the tribalism in our game and have people wanting to go to the ground. Tribalism is so important for the game. If you have these boutique five-star stadiums like Bankwest you're on a winner."

The sentiment is music to the ears of long-suffering Manly fans, whose ground has been run down and was the subject of an asbestos scare last year before the elimination final against Cronulla.

Excavation planning was underway for the club's new centre of excellence and modern grandstand on the northern hill which prompted the asbestos finding. The project is in the final stages of planning and needs tick off from a state government independent planning panel.

Manly's Lottoland stadium is one of four venues set to be prioritised by the NRL following the NSW government's backdown on the ANZ Stadium rebuild.

But there could be a bigger reward for the club, which has mothballed a larger master plan for the redevelopment of Lottoland pending funding - which now could become available - and approval of the development application.

"We do have what I would call a master plan that would bring a stadium of about 20,000 capacity with all the comfort and convenience a modern stadium can bring," Humphreys said.

"I'm not saying we would necessarily be on the scale of Bankwest, but if you look at what it has done for Parramatta and some of the vision from games there last year ... to bring that style of stadium to the northern beaches which has been waiting for a long time, it would transform the gameday experience for the fans and give the community an asset to be really proud of. Our members think they're due - and I agree with them."

Northern Beaches Council mayor Michael Regan described the potential suburban funding for Lottoland as "smart".

The state government's ANZ Stadium backflip has thrown the SCG's hopes of hosting this year's grand final into disarray.

Moore Park was poised to host the NRL showpiece both this year and next while the Olympic stadium underwent a transformation.

But with Sydney Olympic Park looking likely to be back online the grand final will be played at its traditional home, if the NRL decides not to move it interstate.

The NRL had a memorandum of understanding with the NSW government to play the grand final in Sydney for the next 27 years, pending the completion the city's $2 billion stadia overhaul. That included the ANZ Stadium transformation.

ANZ Stadium's anchor tenants, the Rabbitohs and Bulldogs, were kept in the dark over plans to abandon their ground's upgrade and were scheduled for a farewell match there mid-way through this year.

Penrith's chief executive Brian Fletcher said his club would welcome an investment in Panthers Stadium, in which it holds its long term lease.

"We'd love to be considered," he said. "We've got the biggest junior nursery in the state, a new airport being opened in 2026 and we're the biggest growing part of Sydney. It would be enormous for the community."
