Andrew Fifita is hoping to deliver an elusive NRL premiership to the Shire after confirming he's leaving Cronulla to take up a multi-million dollar deal with cashed-up Canterbury.

Observe the transformation.

Yes, it still hurts. I was in the stands when Sheens was coach on a sunny Sunday Leichhardt Oval in Sydney – and for the life of me, I could never understand why Andrew was on the sidelines – and not on the field. And then when he got his window of opportunity on the field - to watch him play reminded me of the Sloth and Dallas. And then the week after I was baffled again why he was on the bench again.
Tim Sheens never saw the potential.

These days what baffles me are 2 things

1\. Why aren’t Wests Tigers suing Sheens for negligence?
2\. – Why the most inspirational player in our club is not captain.
There always has to be something with our club. When will ever get it right?
Have a great day folks.

You can see with what's gone on the last few days that Fafita wouldn't have stayed with us anyway.

While on the moronic - it's not Sheens we should have sued, it's Simmons

It's weird that Sheens picks him now for the Kangaroos. Every club has this story Tallis/Dragons etc. but in that Semi vs Roosters when they were coming back at us. He debuted Murdoch-Masila and left Fifita as 18thman. We should've punted Sheens after 2008 and rebuilt then.

Because the club doesn't have a claim for negligence against Sheens. It would be laughed out of court.

Are you talking about Fulton? I suspect because Farah was made captain after Hodgson left, rightly or wrongly, and it would be a slap in his face to now take it off him. I also imagine that the club thinks he does a pretty good job, irrespective of what we think.

What i find funny is that he said he had to look out for his family. Cos you really need to earn close to a million a yr to provide for a family. If you're gonna follow the money thats fine, but don't try and peddle that bs to try and justify it, cos you could more than provide for a family on 300-400K a yr.

Football careers are short, how can you look down on someone trying to make as much money as possible in that time? You would take 300-400k over 700-800k just to be "loyal"? Don't BS

You've completely missed the point. If he follows the money good luck to him, thats not the issue. The issue is him trying to justify it by saying he needs a million dollars a yr to look after his family, when he could easily do it for much less.

You've also missed the point…..

Why would he take 300-400 when he can take 700-800 and take even better care of his family. A decent career after football is far from guaranteed so the more he makes now, the better off his family will be in 20-30 years

I haven't missed the point at all. You can easily provide for a family on 300-400K a yr and live quite comfortably. You don't need a million a yr to be able to do that.

Again, im not sure why you're justifying him taking the bigger offer, cos i reiterate THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE.

Your a goose Gnr , if he were to be permanently disabled and unable to work again either through or after football , the more money he can make and invest WILL look after his family in the long term future. Do you get the point now !!!!!!!

The interesting fact is that Sharks offered him a record amount (for them) which was just a tiny fraction under what the Bulldogs got him for. Yet he didn't accept their offer and cried because he was leaving the Sharks. Looks like nice 3rd party payments are becoming very popular.

What uneducated nonsense you have just come out with! You have also just proven to us you know nothing about the fifita situation at WT!
Sheens rated his potential highly, but back a few years ago, fifita was the laziest worst trainer at the club, made BMM look like an endurance athlete! He was often late to training, at times didn't show up to certain things.
At that time sheens had no choice he had to be let go, he used to be a punk, he went to shire and turned his life around, but don't knock sheens or the club for it, it was his attitude! Unfortunate how he has turned out but was the right call at the time

The issue for me is that he was so loyal to the sharks that he wld move for $100k pa more, which in the scheme of things is certainly not life changing for his family when yr talking $750k vs $850k.
Ive gotta think that
1)He rates Des as more capable to develop his career(despite the success he's enjoyed at Sharks ),or
2)He's looking for a more stable environmemt(despite the $$ on tap from Sharks real estate development),or
3)Thers some funny money payments going on.
Personally,I lean towards the latter
As to whether he's worth it..dont think any non ball player is worth 15% of the salary cap,& in his particular case its predicated on just one season really,&I dont see the substance of say a Cameron Smith or Glen Stewart that can sustain this level of performance.
More a Tony Williams or Dave Taylor I suspect…..

I really don't give a sh,t what he does. In his last season with us he was obviously very talented, but even more lazy. Although I didn't go that often, every time I went to my local around that time, he was there.

Mate I'm with you. If I had 400k a year my family would be fine. Even if it was only for a 3 yr contract. I can only dream of earning that. He took the cash, ran from adsa and a club going nowhere fast. Just didn't say that because the season is a week old. Sharks should dumb him to a non player when he shuts u shop for the year

If I was able to double my income regardless of how much I was on initially. ..I'd do it in a second

I don't think he said he couldn't support his family currently
