Fullback for 2013

Having a look at all the fullbacks for the other teams (Bowen, slater, Barba, Dugan, Boyd, etc, they are the the strike weapons for there teams. In saying that I don't believe moltzen is good enough. If tedesco isn't right to go for game one I'd rather see a player like simona or nofoluma get a go.

Im getting vibes that Tedesco will be named fullback come round 1\. Which will leave Moltzen in reserve grade. I dont know what it is but I just have a feeling.

Dont quote me on this but in another thread Potter says that Moltzen will be fullback. Whether thats round 1 or trials is not mentioned by Potter.

I thought he had only confirmed miller as the 7\. but nothing else. The obvious choice is Moltzen at 1\. but Tedesco is prominent in all the galleries and training vids I have seen and I just think that come trial time both Moltzen and Tedesco will get a shot and unless Moltzen has improved by 1000% he could be in danger come round 1\. Dont get me wrong I hope Moltzen gets a fair go this season at redeeming himself but he has a lot to make up for.

For all his faults, Moltzen isn't a strike weapon? He was our leading try scorer.

having said that I want Tedesco to start at fullback if he's ready

Due to Teddy's set back, we will probably see Moltzen at 1 for the Trials with Teddy off the bench…

Eitherway, I'm 100% confident Moltzen will only be keeping the jumper warm until James Tedesco is ready.

This kid will be our Billy Slater!!!

We'll get a better idea once the trials start. If one of Potter's pre-requisites is for the fullback to make strong metres off kick returns, then Moltzen has some work to do, but the competition for the position is a good thing and should keep all contenders on their toes.

Potter was a Fullback, Quite a good one!!
One would assume that he would know what it takes to cut it??
For mine, Pecking order for #1 is as Follows:
Tedesco
Nofoaluma (People forget he's played a lot of Jnr's at FB… Took Tedesco to take his spot)
Meaney
Moltzen
As I see it... We don't have a strong kicking game, The battle for yardage will be well and truely lost (Again) If we run with Moltz.
Moltz is fast, and a good finisher, But unless he can work on the facets lacking (For far too long now) from his game in such an important position...
He's last on the list!!
Hopefully Potter can help him....

Moltz is miles ahead of Meeney and Noffa. The last time Noffa played fullback was in about U/16's, he is clearly a winger now.

Tedessco and Moltz will be the only 2 considered.

Serious choices for fullback are
Tedesco
Meaney
Simona
Moltzen

Have heard that Moltzen is being considered as a utility by Potter

If James is 100% both phsyically and mentally right he is easily our first choice and fingers crossed he will be the 1st Tigers player named sometime on the 1st Tuesday afternoon in March

This is the most logical call on Moltzen the perfect utility can play all back line positions and if need be stick the mellon in the scrum!

who-ever the fullback is, I just hope they attack/challenge for the ball, when its put up for a high kick, and when have it in their possession run like a demon, flat out straight into the opposition.

i really hope Teddy is given a shot. Moltz has shown that hes not our Barba or our star at FB. Yes he was our top tryscorer, but anyone could have put those balls down off Benj. Give Tedesco the shot to mix it with Benj an he is likely to work just the same.
I've seen some potential from Moltz, although was a limited amount last year. Really keen to see this kid given a shot like moltz has been given already.

To be fair he did score a few trys showing the ball going laterally close to the line while looking for a hole, and using pure speed to get thru….couple late last year spring to mind.

He can find a hole, and he can put a player into one.....he just needs to find consistency and lose the attitude

Teddy looks a natural #1...Hopefully he can get first crack and be capable & lucky enough to play every game. Weve seen glimpses of him in the top grade and he looked great - thats one thing.......... weve yet to see him after 16-20 rounds straight of week to week NRL footy, thats something entirely different

Hmm. It depends how he plans to use him as a utility and where. I hope Potter devises a way to inject Moltzen into the game, rather than have him sit on the bench waiting for an injury… I can't wait to see what Mick comes up with.

Smokey for round 1 = Meaney

I'm not so sure. I think we all may have read a little too much into the leadership group selection with Meaney. The only way Meaney will start at fullback is if both Moltzen and Tedesco are unavailable or if Potter has come up with another role for Moltzen.

You can't get a much worse start to your NRL career then being seriously injured in your debut game in round 1 and then out for the season. I would think Tedesco probably needs a bit of confidence at the moment not to mention a change of luck.

Tedesco would be pushing himself for a round 1 start but I wouldn't expect him to be anywhere near 100% just yet and I hope he is managed properly. I presume Tedesco will get a run at the Bathurst trail it will be interesting to see what stage he is at.
