Maybe it's to get Tui match fit after his knee injury.
Same as Round 1, ISP to get fit.
Maybe Ivan knows best.

I can pretty much guarantee Taylor and Packer wont be playing ISP to get match fit on their returns from injury….

Geo there are a few on here who can't except Tui was dropped for poor form, and being either unfit or disinterested, they are happy to think he is going to play injured in reggies.

I think a lot of guys just cant separate kicking a conversion and fullback play. Ive seen the argument along the lines of he kicked a winning conversion so he had a good game :brick:

It's very simple really, Tui has no fullback instincts whatsoever, Thompson has them in spades. It's what's best for the team.

That is my take on the season so far as well

Just like you have been saying for the last few years that Brooks is a dud.

I’d be signing Coote for next year. Has won a grand final and will still only be 29 next year.

Would probably have played under Cleary as well.

My take as well. Prior to signing with Canterbury in 2014, Corey played for Easts in Qld. and was considered a fullback. Hasler used him as a winger. Evidently Penrith tried to sign him for 2015 as a back up for a young Matt Moylan, but Dessie got in first.

Coote is busted so that would be a no from me

Mate, the entire league thought that. No one else besides us offered him a contract worth anything. After four years of glimpses of talent (one match winning play every four games) followed by indecision, hospital passes at the line and poor kicking, people had a right to. Brodie Croft at the Storm is a replica of early career Brooks.

Tui didn’t have a good game at fullback and was made accountable. Same with Croft at the Storm. It’s up to both players to work on their game to be picked again.
Brooks always had the skills to make it at NRL level. It’s hard to take on the line and make good kicks if youre pack isn’t dominating.
This year we have been winning the forward battle. If the Storm was all over us. Croft would have had a better game and Brooks may made a few mistakes.
It was good to see the Tigers put a player of Croft’s ability into Reggie’s. Lawrence owned him.
We will miss Lolohea’s kicking. Thompson deserves the fullback spot.

iam looking outside the square, tui has good size good hands and not a great amount of pace, could he be converted to a lock, as his running game is very good and can crash through the line, it would take time, but as i say its outside the square.

He might have to, like Wade Graham at lock.. put on a bit of muscle.. not a bad idea IMO..

I think he will struggle in most positions. He is 'pretty good' at lots of positions. Jack of all trades master of none. Lock though, honestly could work. He would have to work hard at it though.

When you say "not a great amount of pace", well that honestly applies to the entire Tigers backline, right? No speedsters, even Thommo or Brooks who are probably the quickest, aren't anything special.

I can't seriously say that Tui is slow, but also look at these highlights from 2017, when he was clearly overweight, but still on several instances comfortably keeps pace with guys like Tedesco.

If workrate is truly Tui's problem, then I can't see him making a successful transition to the forwards. Perhaps if he was in the forwards he'd be allowed to carry more weight, but it seems to me his struggles are trimming off fat weight rather than muscular weight, so being heavier would still have the same issues.

I think the most plausible alternative "outside box" position would be centres, where we are already lean. I think Tui is absolutely wasted on the wing and we already have 2 superior 5/8 options, though Tui would still be a decent 2nd backup - he did an ok job last year.

Until the last few weeks Brooks has been a dud, it has taken since 2013, are we gonna wait 4 years for Tui

Not sure how you win Dally M Rookie of the year being a dud..

If Brooks was at any other club he would have been dropped and sold off years ago.
Yes he is going good now, but he has taken nearly 100 games to do it, no other team would have waited anywhere near that long.
Tim Smith, Tasesa Lavea are 2 other halves who won rookie of the year and were duds

I'm not sure why props are given a few years in the top grade to mature into top line players but half backs aren't.
Both positions are extremely tough to come to grips with for different reasons.
Anyway, it appears Brooks is on the up and up.

Really someone told me in 2015/6 Brooks had the worst coach to ever coach in the NRL…I thought in 2017 especially towards the back end Brooks was showing all the signs of being a very good NRL half...In 2018 many have him among the form halves of the competition...I'm glad Ivan was patient ...still only 23 and young getting all that experience a a young age..good to see..

haha how can we talk about letting go of tui already… geezzz..
thompson could drop form in 6 weeks...
ups and downs of the modern day footy player..
