Spot On!! I can't believe people are surprised he is playing this well - he has always played this well!!

You'd have to be either delusional or a stirrer if you tried arguing against those stats. If you asked Fitzy himself he'd probably be a tad embarrassed about his performances being inflated like they are.

CT lets be honest. I have always thought you were taking the p**s with your overwhelming support of Fitzy as a player. I could be very detrimental here but his stats speak EXACTLY for what everyone else says on this forum. Good to see you buck the trend … but trying to defend his performances this year lowers your credibility elsewhere (and I am one to listen intently to most of your other posts). That said I can only imagine what will happen here if he has a big game

eheh, CT I thought you were taking the piss up at till now as well. :deadhorse:

Fulton is killing it. he has come back even better.

I was always a Fulton fan mainly due to the way he does all the little things right. He has come back even better and I think he is reaching his potential.

He wasn't and may never be a super-star but he is the type of player a successful team needs! Certainly he is a good fit with our back row and I prefer to see him starting - our defence seems tighter and quicker with him there for the opening whistle.

Fulton needs to keep tackling. This is what is really helping the Team out.

Not everyone is a benji

He is our Hindmarsh / Stagg

I still cannot fathom how we let him go for a year. He reminds me of Dallas Johnson, just tackles to a standstill, been our best defender for years now…we are a much better side when he is included.

If you can't understand his contribution back to 'Learning Rugby League 101' for you.

Agreed. I was always surprised we let him go but held on to Payne, and D Galea.
Tackles his heart out each week and runs at holes in attack.
Glad he's back. A little wiser too.

I second that. The so called lack of size theory thats been pumped out of this forum annoys me. His lighter frame allows him to make more tackles and gives him some good footwork. The only thing is that he doesn't chop blokes in half in defence, but he is our best defender next to Farah. He doesn't even look bigger to me. Has he actually put more weight on? Wouldn't be much and imo and if so it has nothing to do with his form as he's always played this well. Dont forget a year out with injury then shuffled between 2nd row, lock and bench. Even a few games at 5/8\. I'd like to see him hold down a permanent position this year and develop further there.

When I think Fulton I think Menzies, Luke Lewis, David Stagg, Ashley Harrison & Dallas Johnson. Pretty valuable players for their teams.

Fulton…he's rubbish should have stayed in England.....

Are you taking the p**s Geo?

Wooops…Yeah this is about Liam...then someone brought Fitzy into it and I got confussed....he's the one who should have stayed in England....

As for Fulton...well I soley contribute us to missing the 8 in 2009 to the departure of Liam. If you think about it 13 or 14 tries where scored in the first 5 rounds directly through miss tackles just on Halatau and Collis alone.I doubt many have been scored this year as a result of miss tackles when Liam has been on the field, so on his defense alone he is a valuable asset to the team...

Fulton also has a football brain....He is skillful with his hands, runs great lines, hits the ball at pace (I think he's actually gained a yard or 2) and best of all has a very good chemistry with Benji. I was wondering why Ellis switched back to the right. Made way for Liam, that tells you something right there.

I'm a bit dissapointed we haven't seen his short kicing game yet, it will get us a try or two this year I'm sure.

I was upset to see him go off to England last year but in true Liam class he took 1 for the team, easing salary cap pressure and from what Ivé heard took less to come back this year. On the plus side he's come back even better footballer which I didn't think was possible since he's always been a gun in my eyes.

Hope that clears it up...

I read somewhere he played some 5/8th in England. Is this right? We may need this experience later on in the year as well.

At the moment he is our Dallas Johnson. Very good defender and does a lot of cleaning up in defence. Huge asset!

All is forgiven… You're usually on the money, and that didn't sound right.

I've never seen anybody return from England with a vastly improved game. Not to say that Fulton wasn't good to begin with, but he's definitely a more "complete" player now. Amazing what a year can do in the game.

And at risk of upsetting CT, Fitzy should have been turned away at the borders and not allowed to return to Australia until he played out his career at Hull KR. Don't doubt he's a great bloke and was part of the 2005 success, but he's not first grade material anymore, last weekend in Townsville showed that with his scorching case of the dropsies...

I was one saying I wasnt sure bringing Fults back was the right decision. I was wrong. My original view was not so much about him but rather the make up of our squad. I was concerned that our backrow would be too lightweight with Fults in the side. I was wrong.

Geez he looks a much improved player in many ways as well. His involvement has increased and he is now looking to break the line. When you add that to his already good qualities - the lines he runs, his ability to offload and the fact he is a tackling machine - he has been a great re-acquisition.

Thats right I think the year away from campbelltown and living in europe has made this boy from the western suburbs a man and you are seeing the rewards on the field.Theres a saying that in order to grow you must get out of your comfort zone and for Liam I think this is very apt.

If you read the first post magpiemania, then I think I made it clear enough that atleast I had the walnuts to admit that I was 1 of (your 90%).

Thats the reason I wrote something on the topic.

Tri let him have his moment of glory. He obviously needs it.

Most people who said they didnt want Fulton back based their view on the balance of the team and the question of whether both Fulton and Heighno should be in the same side. Few said he was a bad player. I did say he had a lack of penetration. That is one aspect of his game that has improved.
