Bit on the fence on this one ......we need a strong voice in the media ...but the timing of the strong voice has to be right

Pascoe, twice this year, for both Parramatta games give Nicolussi fodder to create 'rivalry' articles in SMH on Moses and Matterson, making us look as if we're talking tough prior to the game and then even more ridiculous when we lost (both games), and dont even get me started on us playing parra twice at bankwest AGAIN...
Hagipantelis, always talking big game about prospective signings and now talking tough in regards to Aloiai... (Dont get me wrong, both sides look bad in this situation). Guess what, no marquee signings and the only real result is continuing an ongoing media circus around the club
This is such a bad look for the club, I cant really think of many other clubs that provide this much cash-for-comment crap chasing media exposure, and the one i can think of was the Broncos last year, and we all know how that panned out...
I used to try and remain positive during these kind of situations, 'It'll blow over', 'I'm sure they know what they're doing' etc etc, but this neverending positioning of WT as a club unable to get a deal done, and as publicly as possible is past a joke..
We can blame the player agents etc for agitating, but the real professional clubs get the deals done behind closed doors without comment in the media, and theyre the ones that remain respectable. Our administration HAVE to start acting professionally, because it hurts as a fan only seeing this club in relation to controversy, as opposed to results.

Exactly. They cant win with some people. Id rather go down swinging or rise up punching. No point staying quiet and letting today's journos control the narritive. Give anyone hell that craps on our club. Im sick of the club being pushed around.

I think in general most fans would agree with that sentiment.
But on this occasion the club got it completely right and you can see that with how it’s being painted in the media. For once the rhetoric is on our side.

All they had to say was.....contract extension negotiations have broken down but Josh is a contracted player for 2021 this contract will be enforced unless suitable compensation can be agreed with another club.
@Lauren said in [Gag order required for Hagipantelis and Pascoe](/post/1266650) said:I’ve always said that I wish everything wasn’t played out so publicly when it comes to the club really. However, the same narrative is continuing to be pushed - problems with administration (retention & recruitment including coaches), the team’s culture and the old favourite the coach’s ability to manage the playing group. This agenda is being driven by the media and always has, you need only to look back 3-5 years ago and even during Sheen’s sacking.
There may have been incompetence with previous administration yet the root of our problems is player managers and the NRL’s handling of contracts – Mitch Moses, Matterson, Cleary and Farah( to a degree).
The NRL allowed a player to tank yet another former player was deregistered for something similar IMO.
Matterson and Cleary should’ve also been considered as bringing the game into disrepute.
I no longer care whose fault it was with the Farah contract but why did the NRL never question Ivan for his role in it? – He was the coach who recruited him, constructed a whole team and the NRL still allowed him to wash his hands of it all. Most of our current problems are attributed to his tenure.
Our image and reputation may be tarred because of our own doing however it’s all due to player (and coach) managers, so I don’t understand how the media pin our biggest sufferances back onto us every time, but not disclose that these types are the cause of it all.
The only time I think we really failed(as a club) was during the contract extension period of Moses, Woods, Tedesco and Brooks – the matter could have been taken care of sooner(?) – but then when you consider Isaac Moses was their manager, it’s not too hard to see why it occurred. So I go back to my original statement, player managers have been the most destructive force on us.
I’m glad Lee is taking a stand on it.

I sincerely hope they get an advantageous situation out of these Aloiai shenanigans, but if history repeats itself, you will feel the same way

Commercially advantageous = Manly refuse to give up a quality NRL player but find a spare 200k lying around, money is used on frivolous meetings with players looking to use us as a stepping stone.
Josh Aloiai has a solid season at Manly.
Sounds familiar to me.
