Gallant injury

well well well i never thought sheens would try lawrence at fullback. i suggested it in 2007.

Terrible news if Gallants facebook is true :frowning: It matches his face when he was on the sidelines though. He looked very upset.
Whilst I would love to see Lui come in at 5/8 this is not the right time for it to happen. Collis will have to stay at centre and pick his game up defensively. He's probably better in attack than Ayshford atm because Ayshford needs to learn when to pass the ball but Ayshford's defence is far better.
Lawrence at 1 could be anything but the most important thing will be how well he positions himself defensively against kicks. esp. attacking kicks. That was Gallants huge strength & we will miss that.

- Spot on regarding Lui… wrong time of the year...

- However i think the link game between Lawrence and TNT is crucial to the tigers putting on points... we struggles against the Roosters to score (we were unlucky on 3 instances i know...) but with 60% possession... should have turned on more points i thought. I'd be playing Collis at fullback and tell him to start tackling lower as he i shrugged off too easy (I remember him being a pretty effective tackler, but it seems a distant memory...

- Regarding Ayshford I think it's obvious the players do not have faith in giving Ryan the ball... Ayshford isn't the only bloke guilty of holding onto it instead of passing to Ryan... Marshall does the same thing a lot of the time. (I'm not having a dig at his game either this week... he played well and for the first time this year I'm VERY happy to see him playing next week.)

You're all dreaming. Hanbury will be the fullback.

Here's hoping you're right. I don't think i could handle having Moltzen shifted back from 7, nor have Lawrence playing at the back with the suspect Collis in the centres.

Bring up Hanbury, Meanie or Herakutuku. All players can play Fullback. Replace a fullback with a fullback. This is not the time to makeshift or manufacturer players in positions of unfamilirality.

1.???
4\. Lawrence
6\. Marshall
7\. Moltzen
14\. Morris

I would much rather Lawrence in the centres than Collis as he provides much more potency ansd better defence (although Collis was OK in yesterday's game). I would also much prefer Molzen at 7 rather than whatever possible alternatives. we have been such a better side witht hat combination.

Bring Hanbury into F/B? I dunno - at least he has a little 1st grade expereince and you never know he may do what Mighty Mouse has been doing over the last few weeks in an attempt to oust the mouse from fullback.

All this adds excitement to the weekend.

If Meaney has been playing well in state cup, then I think he should play full-back. There were massive wraps on him at the start of the year. Lawrence needs to be defending in the centers and attacking next to Tuiaki.

Lawrence is no makeshift fullback he has plenty of experience playing in that position. Collis is a very experienced centre and can tackle. He also needs game time leading up to the finals. I hope Sheens goes with Lawrence at the back and keeps him there for the remainder of the season or until Gallant is fully fit again. Moltzen must remain at seven.

Sheens also said after the game that he thinks Moltzen is a good halfback but he could be a great fullback. Read into that what you want. Either way, I don't think Moltzen @ halfback is going to last as long as us fans would like.

Any shuffle outside this will ruin our chances of making the semis!..simple as that..

i agree, moltzen might be a better fullback then halfback, but hes by far our best halfback so we need him their.

a team with a great fullback and a JM halfback isnt going to make the finals.

Chris Lawrence running full pelt at the opposition on a kick return would be poetry in motion.

However, the Tui/Lawrence combination is turning into an important one for scoring actual points. Also, Lawrence is pretty darn big now, maybe too big for the no.1 jersey. So, I'd prefer us to take the safer option - keep Lawrence and Moltzen in their best positions and put Hanbury at the back.

i completely agree apart from lawrence being too big - it cant be a bad thing having a fullback who wont be brushed off a tackle. i have (also) been harping on for lawrence to be played at fullback for some time now (i think he would be amazing) but in my opinion the best option at this stage is for lawrence to replace collis and for hanbury - who has done well at fullback even with about an hours notice - to slot into the number 1 jersey.

after recent form, i cant see why gallant wouldnt be offered another contract. following a few shaky performances in first grade he has shown all the comments i read on here praising him to be on the money and imo he has been a major catalyst to the turnaround this season.

Gallant 😢

He was playing great :frowning:

Why do we always have shocking luck!?

Hopefully Hanbury gets the nod if Shannon is out, he bagged a triple in NSW Cup on the weekend
