Gallant injury

Ok, just a couple of things..

Regarding Ayshford I think it's obvious the players do not have faith in giving Ryan the ball

- I could be wrong, but didn't Collis play inside Ryan? And wasn't it Collis that sent Ryan in, untouched, for the final try? Boy- when we want to bag someone, we'll go so far as to create issues.

As for the fullback position, my suggestion will be tied DIRECTLY to a quote Sheens himself made- you want your best players playing in the #1, #6, #7 & #9\. Benji at 6, check. Farah at 9, check. Moltzen at 7, check. Hanbury at 1? Umm…no. Lawrence at 1- check. Lawrence is simply in the top 5 players at Wests Tigers- Tim Sheens should listen to his own comments, and put him in the #1\. At fullback, Lawrence will touch the ball twice as much as he does at centre, he can inject himself at all points in the attack without breaking the attacking structure, and his one on one defence is FAR superior to any other fullback option the Tigers can implement. He is, in my opinion, simply the best option.

The problem with that is, the Gallant supporters are probably secretly worried that if Lawrence plays fullback & succeeds, then there will be no spot for Gallant on the team next season.

I agree with the sentiment Chadamn, but I have to question whether Lawrence is the best option. I believe potentially he would be with some Fullback experience but does anyone know if it is a position he has any experience with at all?

It's a bit of a nothing comment from Sheens as it doesn't really say anything concrete. I mean would anyone like to see Farah playing fullback?

I'll probably get shouted down for this but I think it would be in the teams best interests not to disrupt the side too much which means leaving Moltzen where he is and playing Morris at halfback…I'm no fan of Morris in the halves but at least it would mean leaving most of the side exactly as it has been. I think these massive reshuffles have been what have hurt the team most over the past few seasons, far from ideal but still the best option I believe.

morris in halves is a disaster. id rather see robbie in halves and morris playing 9 before we let morris in.

lets be realistic we all say respect your opponent etc, but deadset we are playing against the sharks.
if we cant beat them missing 1 of a key players, then we dont deserve a top 8 position.

whynot put hanbury in, if things go bad can just get him off the field and put morris in centre or halves and push lawrence or moltzen back.

i mean morris only played 7 minutes against manly right?

Here we go again….just when things were working, Gallant had to go and get injured.
I would love for Lawrence to be placed at fullback with Collis retained in thecentres but i think we will see the following backline:

1- Molzten
2- Ryan
3-Collis (unless Lawrence is right to play)
4- Ashyford
5- Tuakai
6- Marshall
7- Morris

I would love to see either Josh Davies or Aprikia on the bench as both player shave been playing well the past few weeks.
Another player who has been playing well, who i would promote and give Skando a rest is Alf Betham (barnstorming). This will not happen though.

Lawrence played most of his lower grade football at fullback as far as I'm aware.

If Lawrence is played at fullback for a few weeks and is a revelation than do we sign Gallant?

If Lawrence proves himself better than he is at centre and better than Gallant at fullback, then I wouldn't re-sign Gallant.

It's harsh on Gallant as I'm a fan of his, but the reality is we would then have Lawrence, Brown, Lazarus, and to a lesser extent Moltzen to cover fullback.

Yeah. So average he played a great hand to help beat Parra for the first time in years with zero notice as Moltzen went down in the warm up.

Real average that one

Real average that one

He was unlucky to have been dropped after that performance too. He'd had solid games all year. And from memory has only really made two blunders. Not throwing the pass against the Berries to Tuiaki and then not running back in after a line break against the Warriors. Hanbury is strong defensively, has pace and is reliable under the high ball.

I'm one fan hoping this 'average' bloke is named in the #1 come this arvo with the team announcement

Fair call Gobbs…I do not think Hanbury would let anyone down. He is strong under the high ball and has good defence also. Runs the ball also with as much force as Gallant. I would not be disappointed if his selected.

i reckon we should put lawrence at fullback and keep collis in the centres OR maybe not this year but next year we could bring Robert lui up from the u20s and move benji to fullback

Benji won't be shifted to fullback in this lifetime.
