Galloway - forward leader

Today showed me that Keith is still well and truly our packs leader. I know everyone stepped up today, however the difference from last week to this week was immense.

Like what Ellis was when he was here I believe having Galloway there gives the rest of the forwards confidence and lifts them. He is an imposing physical presence and is aggressive in attack and defence.

Woods is great but he isn't someone who is ever going to pull off a big hit and intimidate the opposition, or take that 10m+ run when the rest of the forwards are getting smashed. We are a much better team when KG is fit.

It took pressure off Woodsy too.
Woodsy didnt give penalties away or get picked by the refs.
The sauce from memory didnt get called out by the refs at all..

KG had some absolutely horrible games last season when his lateral movement in defense let him down, but I'm sure he was playing those games with quite a bit of discomfort with his chronic foot injury. First game back this season and he played exceptionally well. I just hope he doesn't pick up those chronic niggling injuries and stays fit and firing because when he does it lifts the entire team (and the stats show it).

The difference between Sauce and no sauce is miles apart. We NEED to get momentum and one player simply cant do it himself. You need 2 players in a set to get the ball rolling and that's what happened today. Especially in the heat, if you start moving quickly down the field from a solid taupau hit and then a woods hit followed up by sauce with Blair then the team becomes a lot harder to slow down.

Compare that to last week, woodsy and taupau the only 2 hitting with some venom. Woods does some dirty metres, and unless marty comes up with a massive run the set just peters away and they can rush up and limit us to 35m or so.

Today's game brought back great memories of big Keith using that Canberra hooker as a speed hump in one of the Wests Tigers best ever wins down in Canberra. Cant remember that dude name….

We haven't seen a consistently fit and healthy Keefy for a long time. Fingers crossed he gets a good run this year. There's no doubt he makes a world of difference to the team.

With nathan brown and akoula having big games on the weekend in nsw cup and bmm the week before AND AN INJURED SIRRO TO RETURN(caps) I havent seen so much quality competition for spots in the forwards from wests tigers ever (that includes 2005)

Great to see Sauce back yesterday. Only played 30 minutes but still cracked the 100 metre mark, and trampled Greg Bird in the process.

He was enormous. Inspired the whole pack.

Him, with woods, Gavet, taupau and Ava give us the size we've missed for a long time. When Sironen comes back into the side it will be truly exciting.

It doesn't look bad in the forwards now does it.

The true test will be Friday night v Souths

How good was it to see KG back and giving it to Bird.

Bird thought he would stop Big Red but was left on his back grabbing his shoulder. Could you imagine how good KG would bid if he ran like Gavet. Truly scary!

Get angry Sauce as I want to see you eating Rabbit stew on Friday
