The St George Illawarra Dragons may yet cop sanctions from the NRL over the team list error that saw a different side run onto the field for kick-off than the one named an hour earlier.

It was widely reported at the time the discretion had cost the Dragons an interchange, but match statistics showed they used all eight.

In his weekly briefing, NRL football boss Graham Annesley said that was "a bit of a misunderstanding"

The Dragons' list had Jacob Liddle down to start at hooker, with Moses Mbye named at No.14.

Instead, it was Mbye who took to the field in Canberra, and Liddle came off the bench.

Teams are required to submit their starting lineup an hour before kick-off, and rules state that side must be the one to take the field when the game commences.

"That didn't happen for one reason or another yesterday," Annesley added.

"I know there have been some stories circulating that that cost them an interchange, but it didn't cost them an interchange. They still got their full eight interchanges."

But Annesley said that didn't mean the Dragons were out of the woods just yet - the matter would now be investigated by league boss Andrew Abdo, who will determine a penalty.

The Bulldogs have locked in highly touted youngster Jacob Preston for another three years, tying the back-rower to Canterbury until the end of 2027.
The 21-year-old has been a standout for Cameron Ciraldo's rebuilding Bulldogs outfit since making his NRL debut in round one.
He's been a force for Canterbury in defence and with his carries on an edge, and has crossed for three tries.
"Jacob Preston is a real Bulldog and he's the type of kid we would like to build our future around," said Bulldogs general manager of football Phil Gould.
"In the meantime, he has a long way to go, but his work ethic and resilience indicate to me that he will do everything that it takes to be successful."

Well if you add in the forum there are a couple of hundred of us asking the exact same question.
Brooks is a protected species all right. But I keep asking why ? Every coach treats him the same irrespective of his performances, I just can’t work it out .

Aloiai, Wakeham separated after post-match argument

Manly forward Josh Aloiai and Wests Tigers five-eighth Brandon Wakeham had to be separated in the tunnel following a heated argument an hour after full-time of Sunday’s clash at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

The players were in the tunnel at Campbelltown following Manly’s come-from-behind win over the Tigers when Aloiai approached Wakeham after the playmaker had finished conducting a post-match interview with a reporter.

The conversation began amicably before Aloiai, who had taken exception to Wakeham’s actions on the field, asked the Tigers No.6 to “come around the corner” if he wanted to “talk shit”.

The pair got in each other’s faces as they exchanged words, with Aloiai having to be dragged back into the Manly Sea Eagles dressing room.

Wakeham then popped his head into the Manly sheds to continue the argument with Aloiai before he was told to head back into the Tigers sheds.

Sources with knowledge of the situation, talking under the condition of anonymity to protect their identity, told the Herald the argument was believed to be in relation to Wakeham taunting debutant Samuela Fainu when Starford To’a went past Josh Schuster and Fainu to give the Tigers the lead late in the match.

The incident, which occurred in the 63rd minute, sparked a melee that resulted in the rookie’s jersey being removed.

It erupted soon after when Jason Saab crossed for the match-winning try, with Fainu returning serve against Wakeham as Manly celebrated the 22-16 win in front of 10,033 fans at a wet and cold Campbelltown Sports Stadium.
