Get Des

Are we all still on the mantra that a change of coach is going to make a difference. Seriously does anyone on here see what is real. We could have Bennett and Bellamy, I think they even would struggle. It's time to get rid of the REAL problem.

Thinking about Des. One thing he can do is train a halfback.

Manly had matt Orford, ok quality from Melbourne I think.
Des punted him for Trent Hodkinson, who did very well for 1-2 years.
Des Punted him for DCE, who became a superstar halfback under him.

IMHO Des > Sheens. I so wish we had 2-3 months notice of Des's firing so we could line him up here.... I guess so does Des. The question is How? I would ask Sheens if he would be willing to take his full paycheck now, no work nothing, just a quiet "I want to retire". Then have Benji stand in a few games but do a callout to Des.
We fire Sheens, every coach will be thinking "we cannot commit to a vision".

Tell me how Flanaghan would have been any worse.
I’m one of those few people who thought he’d be good for us despite carrying the cheat label. I’m so sick of seeing failure hence was happy to give him a go. At least he has good footy iq (listening to him commentate). Clearly the club didn’t want success and kept away from him.
Another classic move imo.

Hey cc i dunno how to quote ur response but the postmatch conference vision was hard to watch....api aint happy and i hope sheens aint already, dare i say it 'lost the dressing room'

Same, he did his time and what he did shows a win at all costs attitude. He seemed to be loved by his players and had the ability to attract talent to the Shire. Within 5 years they went from bottom of the ladder to premiers, that's a 5 year plan.

Des has largely relied on a couple of superstars for success. Without them his teams are ordinary.

He also leaves the salary cap in a similar state to the 1st coming of saint Sheens

Des H money management skills is not worth the pain it will cause.
Flanno please leave at Foxtel/Manly where he belongs bitter and resentful

Dean Young or Ben Hornsby are worth the risk

Des also goes to clubs who are struggling and turns them around almost immediately.
