At least it's not as bad as Balmain's record vs Western Reds.

Only played one game, ever, and lost it, 52 to 0.

Ouch

Hope this doesn't take us too far off topic, but it's an interesting conversation.

I don't think the figures for a draw are accurate.

It had been pretty even until the 4 game losing streak from 2015 - 2017. 2018 still stings.

It's really a rather horrendous record. But then it does please me that despite losing records against most sides, Tigers somehow manage to consistently beat a few of them, like a true bogey.

History has shown that wests tigers end up losing games like this one to be played against the Titans.
Don't under estimate this team or games, or wests tigers will be embarrased with result at full time.:disappointed: :confounded:

Well there we go.....

Here’s an idea. How about we just treat this like any other game and not over analyse the reasons why we should win it.

Exactly - it doesn't who we play - with the new rules its all about completion rates and good field position at the end of sets. You can't afford to hand the ball over no matter who the opposition are.

I’m actually nervous about this game.
Titans have their best record against us.
They have leaked 20-30pts a game & Only scored 1 try a game this year

We have scored a heap of points but leaked them as well

Should we win - yes we should, we should win by 20-30pts. However history & tradition isn’t on our side.

I'm looking forward to this game. Its a chance to see where Wests are at both with the new game rules and mentally. We saw last night what a finals bound team does to a team that is down on troops and morale. Foot to the throat.

Anything less than a 13+ win is a loss. If Madge is the coach we hope he is, he should have the team primed for this. No excuses.

I know we all are thinking this in our minds but I wish to God everyone would stop saying it! You will all think I'm mad I know, but I feel like the more it's spoken out the more likely it is that it will actually happen again. It's like some sort of collective consciousness or something, I dunno.

Seen it time and time again when the media have harped on about a particular team's winning record over another team or a certain ground a team hasn't been able to win at in decades - the record usually stays because everyone keeps banging on about it. I know it sounds crazy, but I reckon players internalize this stuff.

I think it's time for a new mantra - the past isn't the future and records are made to be broken! 👍

There will be some pretty upset Last man standing entrants...

West Tigers' negative thinking cost the side a semi final spot when they lost the last round match on their home ground playing the Sharks last season. Playing Farah also had something to do with it.

It has been really encouraging listening to the comments in the media be it NRL360, Big Sports breaky etc

The Improvements in the Roster, the youth, the change in the style is on the up.

The key this weekend will be stopping Fotuaika and Arrow.
Fotuaika was immense in the first half last week, was solid in contact and was continually getting a fast play the ball, somthing we have struggled to contain over the past few years.
If we control the game speed and keep errors to a minimum the Titans will beat themselves

I’m still annoyed at Madge for that. Should’ve just played Talau at centre and Momirovski fullback, instead Chee Kam went to centre and Farah onto the bench with a broken leg. Only Farah could play his last game like that

I get what you are saying but I guarantee you none of that is true, it's just a perception.

I used to track punting data. Between 2009-2017 Tigers played 109 home games of which we were favourites 47 times, winning 28 of those (59.57%). Of the 110 away games same period, Tigers were favourites 29 times, winning 18 of those (62.07%).

That is a total of 219 games played between 2009-2017, where we were favourites 76 times and we won 46 of those games (60.52% win rate). So actually when Tigers are "expected to win" we usually do, by a significant margin (60% overall vs something like 51%).

There is a reason teams are favourites for games, and that's not because of your average punter, that's because all the bookies say so and the bookies know how to crunch big numbers.

I would put it to you that no team truly "underestimates" their opponents. Even expecting to win isn't an underestimation if you are heavy favourites, and the team is the sum outcome of 17 players actions - I very much doubt all 17 players simultaneously underestimate an opponent.

I agree with most of what you say
But a win by 1 point will get us 2 premiership points
That is the most important thing
If we can get the Monkey off Our back and win a game we are expected to win then I am happy with that
If we win by 13+ I am very happy
If we win by 30+ I am stoked
Small steps 1st
We need to make finals and improve all along the way
We will have our ups and downs but I don't want to loose against teams like Gold Coast, StGeorge or the Bulldogs
Those games are must win games
