Grandstand interview with Tim Sheens

ABC Grandstand had a great interview with Tim Sheens a couple of hours back. He talked about the Tigers season so far, injuries, losing our left edge, Benji's defence last night (and our halves defence, generally), Dwyer, Blair.
I thought he made some good points.

It has now been downloaded to the ABC website at: http://www.abc.net.au/sport/rugbyleague/audio/ - it's the interview from 12.58 today, not last night's post match interview, which is also on the site.

Blair was always going to play lock next year. That's why it's likely Heighington may play off the bench at full strength.

He will play a similar role to what Payten has for the tigers, but I'll expect him to do it a lot better than Payten given the money he'll be on.

So, we are losing three props in order to buy a lock? When we have a great lock already. If Blair doesn't play prop, then we are going to miss Bryce Gibbs even more than I thought. Our props will be Galloway, Woods, Groat and Schirnack? That's a massive loss of experience compared to the props we have now.

This is and always has been my concern. These young blokes are good but are too green to be relied upon for 30 weeks straight. If Blair is lock then there must be someone else coming apart from Bell.

I think it's likely blair will be rotated into the forwards during the matches…
As you are aware sheensy loves picking experienced players any day of the week.
it wont change all too much from now anyway i personally think next years props will be galloway and bell with woods and groat on the bench...this year its been galloway and gibbs with woods and fifita mostly on the bench so really we are replacing 1 experienced player with another and the other unexperienced player is swithching around with another

this year fifita had the experience and woods was the fresh face next year woods will have as much experience as fifita had and will take his place and groat will take woods.

As far as experience and leadership is concerned payten will be sorely missed...but i think the sauce will step up as will blair bring that leadership.

Good interview - 9 mins plus.

we've only lost 2 props… fifita and gibbs... payten isn't a front rower anymore (imo).

yet we've gained one of the best backrowers in the game to team up with Heighington and Ellis...

throw galloway and woods in at prop, and our starting pack is looking pretty scary... rotate 2 props from the bench a game (groat and shirnak) and we are sweet. we have enough depth in the backrow that if something happened, you could put ellis, blair, heighinton ... any of these guys to cover...

im frothin for 2012!
