GROAT???

Watched him play in the NYC on sat, the kid did not look any thing like the player who burst onto the scence at the end of last year. I know he was carrying his knee but he looked over weight, seemed to have no drive and looked uninterested in playing there. I think his 1st grade stocks have gone down, that even moors would be picked before him, it was sad to see as i thought he like very good at the end of last year.

Well I would have money on Moors being behind him in the pecking order.

Taking that away though he was bound to be a little overweight on his return from a knee injury and the strapping looked to be hindering him. It is a psychological vice for alot of players coming back and it hinders full extension. He will get better though

Yeah he looked short of condition on the weekend. Still looked extremely strong in tackles - the guy is a beast. He's still very young for a prop especially one of his build. I'm pretty confident he'll come good although I'd rather see him have a stint in NSW Cup.

A lump of a human like Groat is always going to take a little time coming back from a leg issue - regardless of how minor it is.

He will be back in first grade before too long.

He was limping through the game. Even the commentary picked up on it.

Based on what I viewed he is 3-4 weeks away from being in shape to play first grade

Don't think pack will change anytime soon. Only for Ellis's return and maybe cashmere. Depends who we play

Work in progress, to play top grade at his age you need ability and plenty of ticker, the problem he has come along at the same time as another young prop who looks like being a once in a generation type player, so the bar has been set really high. He will be a very good player if he is willing to learn his trade and put the work in. Remember Keff, Sheens had him in and out of the top grade for years before he nailed his own position

Groat was outplayed by Lovett and Brown on the weekend. They look about 10x more dangerous than Groat too, and each have their style of play. Brown is a nuggety prop who takes the ball up at a million miles an hour. Lovett is a workhorse prop with great defence.

I do like how Sheens brought KG along. He hovered around the reserve grade team for his first two seasons here - best pathway for a forward IMO

There are nicer ways to refer to the Cronulla Sharks than _THAT._

Despite the obvious limping I was impressed with his efforts. It was a no nonsense do my job effort that could be confused for in interested.

I liked his passing game, took the ball to the line and showed good hands!

I won't expect him back into the nrl side for a couple of weeks until its all sorted and back to 100%

A couple more NYC games and then nsw cup.

exactly what he needs - bring him back along slowly -

I was chastised earlier for saying his injury might be a blessing in disguise, however re-deploying him slowly, giving him a chance to work off the extra weight, and gain hi lateral movement back will only be a great move for him.

iam with you give him some time in the NYC and a couple of games in the state cup, and the kid will be a better player.

I hope he stays in reserves for a while the bloke hasn't impressed me one bit and i dread to see his name on the team sheet for firsts. Props develop as they age, so a year or 2 in reserves shouldn't hurt imo he should earn his spot.

Keep him in Under 20's then progress through The State Cup.

Didn't impress me at all during his stint in NRL.

Props in NRL should be Woods, Galloway, Bell, BMM, Cashmere, Blair and Moors (if Sheens gives him a chance).

If Groat is off contract would be happy for him not to be re signed.

I like Groat, but to be honest the kid doesn't have much going on between his ears. The best front-rowers have at least some kind of intelligence.

Intelligent post

He's only 19, not many 19 year old props set the world on fire. Hell, even Fifita and Woods are incredibly rare to be going so well at such a young age in the front row.

Give him time, he'll develop into a solid prop over time.

Please dont put fifita in the same class as woods
