Halfback

Did the four hour rd trip for the LO Gold Coast game. Same shit. Done round one.
I contemplated not renewing our tickets this year, but foolishly bought into the hype of Sheens/Benji. If we aren't even going to spend as much as the other teams and at least attempt to improve onfield, there's literally no point financially supporting the Club anymore. Leave it to Lee and Pascoe to continue on their successful regime.

Who's want to come to Wests Tigers though? If you were advising Pezet for example, you're better off playing 5-10 games a year for a couple more years at Storm than to be chucked in the deep end at Tigers without any support.
But there must be players that dont want to move to Bleak City, that would prefer to breathe the fresh air of Camden or similar with the much lower property prices, that will give Wests Tigers a go.

Going from Wakeham to Clune..... shuffling deckchairs. If the Club can't secure us a top tier half, just pack it up and give Perth the franchise. Already missed Moses, Hunt available, Dogs already spoken to him......but we've got a shiny new Barbers Chair at Concord 🤪🤪
How does moving Wests Tigers to Perth make it any easier to get a top tier half, or any other player for that matter.

Hunt will have
Titans , Dolphins , Dogs , Tigers , Roosters to choose from
if he heads to Any club but us , Brooks could get picked up for dragons or Roosters or even Gus Dog ,
we could very well come out with Zero
I would go hard for Hunt very hard or up the Brooks offer and go all out and get the young guy from Melbourne Perez or Trindal , I would spend what ever needed , we don’t need Frizzel we have that covered , our pack is very good we just need finishers
I really thought Brooks wanted to stay here at WT to be a one club player.
Now that he has said he wants to leave us I think that's what he should do.
He's been heavily crapped on by us fans for years, partly due to the $$$ he has been getting paid.
If he stays it will be due to WT increasing the original offer to him because We are desperate for a 7.
So, he'll get nonstop crapped on again as we will accuse him of just staying for the extra $$$ handed to him.

100% this club in all reality needs to be folded. The merger hasn't worked at board level. As much as I love Wests this club is making lose interest in the sport I adore. We are a joke to all players and for good reason. After 40 years I have had a enough of this shit show
It seems like you would be happy to see Wests depart the shit show and revert to just Balmain and no longer be a shit show?

And once the Bellamy regime is over the Storm could just collapse completely, unless he stays around in a managerial position.
It is not a house built out of twigs

They have established a cultural identity that permeates the organisation!

Unlike these amateur hour muppets Pascoe & Lee - who are intent on taking the franchise back to the glory days of 1999 Western Suburbs Magpies and keeping us there!!!

Except the Tigers won't make any offer - for a change!

Exactly.

Our entire starting spine from the start of the year of Laurie, Douehi, Brooks and Api were out. Wakeham had to play half back in first grade with a 5/8 with no experience in the position. Expecting Wakeham to be effective last night was unrealistic.
"Starting spine from the start of the year"????

Doueihi and Laurie????

Those fricking no-class bums who lost EVERY game since 30/07/22- and personally let in more points by individual defensive garbage than the entire team scored??

Good riddance to both of them!

At least Wakeham can make his tackles - but he has nothing in attack!

Wake up and smell the steaming pile of dogshit!

Which makes me wonder why Sheens had to do this dance this year.

I mean honestly, was he watching our team last year. Porus, silly defense and ok lacklustre attack. So lets focus on 200 passes. Lets move on Hastings and back Brooks. OOPS Brooks isn't our person lets offer him a 500k contract so he will go (because hey lets be real here).

Guessing Sheens wanted a stab at Moses.

I'm saying, with all this Cap Space, and releasing players mid season to give us even more Cap Space, if there wasn't a contingency to secure a quality 7, just give up and give Perth our franchise. We were stuck with horribly long contracts on broken down hacks, now we have Cap Space and were still last.

There are plenty of talented players playing 6 & 7 in the lower grades.

I still believe that, if you are not blessed with Johns/Thurston talent, it comes down to aligning the skills of your organisational players.

You need someone smart enough to know when/where to kick.

You need someone fast/elusive enough to be dangerous when running at the defence.

If they are the same player- ooh, exciting...

If not- get your mix right, and play disciplined ball.

We currently have a fullback & hooker in our 1st grade squad that other teams would love.

You look at Townsend/Dearden last season. Neither of these guys are that much more talented than Wakeham, Volkmann, Taaffe etc. But it was a good mix.

The Tigers COULD find a couple of under appreciated players to mix in with Api & Bula, that would give direction around the field, without spending a million dollars on 34 year old Ben Hunt.
I 100% agree with you on the defensive side of the line; however, that can be fixed relatively quickly. We have a bye coming up so two weeks to pick a starting lineup and get the defensive reads right. We were too easily stripped for numbers with basic plays and that starts at the inside backs and egde forwards. Once they turn in they all have to turn in and then deal with anything outside with our cover/scramble. That just didn't happen - Bulla and the inside backs were not coming across in cover to make the sideline our extra defender. That is a bout attitude and effort. This can be fixed easily.

Scoring points on the other hand can't be fixed easily. Wakeham is passing too early and as a result doesn't committing the inside defence. The opposition defence can drop off and carry on with the play as he poses no threat. He has to dig into the line a little deeper before distributing the ball - it is his only play because he is so slow. He will not break the line open with his footwork or his speed so he has to take the line on and then pass or distribute very early for a set play. I have only seen him dig into the line a few times this year so unless they can develop this in him over the next week or so he should be shoveled back in to Reggies and someone else given an opportunity; how's the Pillow coming along?

On the kicking front it is a similar issue in his short game. If he kicked at the line instead of before it his grubbers/chips into the in goal would be significantly more effective. His deeper kicks just aren't directed well. He places them accurately but doesn't have the height to get our players into the contest. Our outside backs really don't attack the ball when it goes up etiher so it doesn't help. We very rarely compete for the ball from our own kicks; that is again attitude and effort. Again something that can be coached.

Toa is a centre - he is not up to FG standard as a 5/8. We were weak in both areas as a result against Melbourne. Laurie or Reilly perhaps?
