Storm after Simpkin

Only if we can keep Harry. If we aren’t then no reason to get rid of Simpkin he’s a prospect

Simpkin is the one I'd prefer to keep.

Poor Madge, not 3 years ago he had the Blues Hookers at his disposal...now he has both (potential) future QLDer Hookers 😛

I’d prefer Harry personally. Has already proven himself as a great player. Simpkin could be just as good but at the moment is unproven, if we want to compete we need NRL proven talents

McCullough is signed to the dogs willow from bext year

Hope not for Dogs sake. He was apparently loaned from Broncos to Knights this year, and if unsigned elsewhere was returning to Broncos on $600k for next year.

Hope the Broncos are stuck with him paying the $600k.

I generally agree with your often insightful comments Josh, but let's try and put the Harry/Jake/Liddle thing in context.

Liddle is 23, 24 in October - made his debut when he was 19 1/2. Up until then, he had no proven NRL experience.

Harry is 22, 23 in February - made his 5 minute debut when he was 20, but then not again for just 1 appearance (off the bench) in 2019. Hardly "Proven NRL experience"

Simpkin is 19, 20 in October. No debut yet but is reaching a similar age when the other lads NRL careers kicked off.

Tellingly Harry's age may be a clue to his success against grown men.
,
That extra year of nurturing in the QLD cup versus the pressure Liddle faced in the NRL may be the difference. So, biding his time can't hurt Simpkin who is with us to the end of 2022.

Even if Harry moves on, Simpkin at age 20 next year will be stronger and will have no doubt benefitted from training with Harry & Lids. And with a pack boasting some very formidable big bodies in Stefano, Twal, Aloiai, Mikaele, Blore & Leilua, an early debut, following a full Madge Pre Season under his belt, may just have been the plan all along.

Oh I’m sure Simpkin could do a good job but if I can choose between him or Grant I’m choosing grant. He’s the safe option and has proven he’s NRL level, and for a club who is building towards being a finals threat it’s the smartest move

Madge likes to debut young guys, but he seems to always make sure they are NRL ready physically and no doubt he will do the same with Simpkin. He certainly has talked up Liddle and Simpkin so if we don’t keep Harry (which seems most likely) it’s good to know he has two guys there ready to rip in.

Not really about Harry .. but Momo's injured his hand last week and required surgery to repair torn tendons in a finger .. ?? .. Storms have him out for 11 to 12 weeks .. ?? .. wow .. actually just checked their website .. it says the season now.

Well 11 weeks is pretty much the season. Although four weeks of finals (including the GF) takes it up to 13 more weeks.

Dogs will throw the sink at Grant if he doesnt go back to melbourne... very worried we get shafted

he probably needs one too, given his current housing situation...

Surely someone we know could put him into a Meriton apartment somewhere? Vacancy rates are up?

Im sorry but if u have to trade Simpkin for grant you do it. Grants a stud cant remember a player that has the impact he has had this year. He is a gun and tpugh and consistent. Simpkin could be all that and more but at this stage he is potential only you take the class when its offered

Simpkins development is at least 18 months behind Grants

Only just possibly heard ( or misheard ) that Grant isn't available for the semis if we make the Top 8 on NRL 360 .........

The question put to them was if Tigers do not make the 8 is Grant Eligible to play for the Storm in the finals...

If we meet Storm in the playoffs, can storm pull our hooker and best player out of the game?

there will be a specific end date for the loan contract.

I guess so. But also an overriding clause which allows for any delays or extensions to this season, I would imagine?
