The club needs to get its OWN players ! again just like home grounds they like fence sitting , you never get ahead with these types of decisions. How is this good for anyone ... you either want to work with who you HAVE , it’s a slap in the face to Simpkin if I was him ask for a release plenty of clubs want an aspiring 9 on there books there in short supply . Yep let’s beg for Melbourne to loan Harry for next season ! The club needs to wake up ...

Using a stop gap hooker is now in its 5th year. Incredible

So we should pass up the opportunity to use one of the best hookers in the league because he’s not one of ours.... we want to win games and he makes that much more likely. This is the smartest business we’ve done in the last decade.

Simpkin wouldn’t be expecting to be playing first grade until 2022 he’s a teenager.

Is Harry a contracted Weststigers player ? Are Liddle and Simpkin contracted ? thanks for 2020 Harry good luck down in Melbourne ! The club needs to stand on its own not be propped up by other clubs players ... This year has been the exception not the rule.

You make a good point. Liddle is good to go in about 5 weeks time, let’s see if he gets some game time this year. If we continue building as a ‘team’ we’ll get to a point where it won’t matter who will be in at hooker next year. We might be in a better position by then to blood our young hooker if required.

I think what is being suggested is dependant on a few points.
1/ smith signing on next year.
2/ liddle still progressing in his recovery
3/ Simpkin not ready

I agree with you if Smith signs on, it shouldn’t be up to us to solve Melbournes problem.
However if points 2&3 are true at the time. It may be a good option.
I don’t think it should be a garenteed year next, More so stated as, as long as required. With an eye to Blood Simpkin off the bench, moving Harry to lock.
Actually I hope that happens later in the year with either Jacob or Jake.

If anything, Harry has highlighted all we need across the park:
talent
speed
football nouse
guts
never-give-in attitude

So that puts the cat amongst the pigeons - can his team meet his benchmark?

I think I read somewhere that Bellyache is contracted until the end of next year and isn’t keen to continus beyond that. I have a sneaking suspicion that Cammy will want tie a bow around it and march off into the sunset together which means we may get Harry for another year.

If Harry Grant is at tigers next year Simpkin wont be

if anything, Grant's probably shown Simpkin that if you're patient and continue to hone your craft in reserve grade that you'll be better prepared when the opportunity comes your way. Simpkin is our long term hooker, but he won't be ready for a little while longer yet, and the Grant loan being extended will ensure that we don't rush him.

if we can keep Grant just for next year my team would be
1. Doeuihi
2. Nofoaluma
3. Leilua
4. Cini/Momirovski
5. Talau
6. Reynolds
7. Brooks
8. Musgrove
9. Grant
10. Aloiai
11. Garner
12. Leilua
13. Twal
14. Liddle
15. Mikaele
16. Utoikamanu
17. Blore

Technically yes he is a contracted Wests tigers plAyer and could be next year as well. We have to do whatever it takes to have our strongest team giving us the best chance of winning games easy as that

I agree for the most part. It wouldn't be a stupid idea to extend the loan for another year to have a capable first grade hooker on board. Simpkin will probably need another year in reggies to learn his trade and play against men, Walters is a stop-gap solution and I have no faith that Liddle will be able to play three consecutive games without getting injured for an extended period again.

Love the look of that team, and it's a real possibility.

The only change I'd like to see is a new 5/8th in place of Reynolds (no offence to the man but I feel it's on the cards). Could Walters be the one? I guess we'll get a glimpse tomorrow...

Walters will have to make this game count he’s mid twenties and barely played first grade, he might not get many other chances to earn a spot. Cody Walker was a similar age when he started playing consistent first grade and he’s a very good player so it is possible

So SMH is reporting that if Cameron Smith plays on the tigers would like to extend Harry’s loan another year. Seems smart to me

Simpkin won’t leave, he’s still a teenager and not even had a full season of reserve grade. He should be expecting to not play first grade at least until 2022.

Would think - with us or with Storm he would want a few more bucks.

Maybe we should look at players that are ready to play first grade now and that can sign multi year deals. Or are we a club here just to get players ready for other teams.

Don't agree that Simpkin is our long term hooker.

At this stage he is one of two long term possibilities unless Grant stays on long term. Then it becomes the scenario he will become one of three possibilities.

Blore is the most confusing to me. We only have him signed for this year and next year. You just know we're going to bring him in when the season is almost over, he'll kill it, then someone will sign him for 2022 come November, then we'll release him early.

We are a club who needs to win games and make finals, Harry will be a big help for that. I don’t see any good hookers available for next year anyway, certainly no one on Harry’s level.

Madge will have to be careful there’s quite a few boys who will be talked to by other clubs come November.

You would have thought he'd have seen enough of him train to know whether an extension or upgrade is worthwhile... hope we're not going to sit on our hands.
