Sorry ...Harry Grant and Luke Brooks are on completely different planetary orbits

Even the artist formerly known as Geo would agree

What's being missed he is Grant was allowed to develop his craft out of the spotlight by carving Up Queensland Cup for a few years learning off Cammy and Bellyache at the same time..

So when his time came at 22 he was ready for the NRL to hit the ground running ..he got there the old fashioned way..

A lot of Clubs don't have that luxury and throw kids in at 19/20 where they have to learn in the NRL because there isn't another option..it's a tough ask..

Simpkin is a weapon though mate . I’m pretty sure he already played Q cup last year . He has a better kicking game already than grant and close to the line it looks like he’s a real handful . Grants game management is Very , very good .
Honestly I rate grant extremely highly , but if we don’t keep him , with Jacob and Jake waiting in the wings it’s not the end of the world

He’s contracted for another 3 years. We could throw 5 million a year at him and it wouldn’t matter if Melbourne don’t release. After the way they handled JAC’s release request, don’t hold your breath. They know what they have with this kid.

Matterson was contracted to us this year, where’s he at? Moses had a contract , how did that end up? Morris had a contract at the sharks, where is he playing this year? Bateman is contracted to the raiders next year, where’s he going.

Where always on the losing end of players wanting out. If the kid wants to stay here , throw the kitchen sink at him, contract or no contract with the storm. Being the nice guys who play by the rules has gotten us no where in the last ten years.

Except Moses, Bateman and Matterson didn’t play for Melbourne who appear to hold players to contracts.

They were talking about this on 360 ...players wants out ...kicks stones for 6 weeks ...his mentality screws with the team ethics and they let him go

Why would you care what happens at ISC / Qld Cup

Agree..I would like Grant to be here cause he's ready now..I'm not one of the one's who think it will be a tragedy and the end of existence if he returns..

The only problem I have with Simpkin is due to covid the only development he is getting apart from training is carving up Rugbeh League live on playstation...can't be helped and no one's fault..

A lot of guys ply their craft in ISC and Qld cup but don't make the cut to NRL level Grant may have learnt from Cammy and Bellamy but he was still 3rd string …
We have given him the opportunity to show us his qualities here and now ...not waiting in the wings for Cammy or Brandon to fall over or retire...

That’s what happen with Mitch the tanker. He went to the club and said he wanted a release. Cleary told him they had no replacement for him so he would have to stay to the end of the season. So Mitch kicked stones and basically was a passenger for a couple of games..so the club were forced to give into his demands. When Matterson played the same game, they knew they had give him a release because he could become a toxic influence on the squad

Shaun Lane did the same thing at Manly to Barrett...oddly enough went to Parra..there appears to be a pattern here..

2 different positions and 2 different personalities...Harry will be a superstar in years to come and that will boil down to the great coaching Madge has given him and the opportunities this club has given him...

Again, the guy has only played a couple of 1st grade games. **He will be on a plane back to the Storm in November**. No-one will remember that he played for us if he becomes a superstar. Apart from Wests and Balmain supporters, does anyone remember that Garry Jack started at Wests??

Not if Melbourne is still in lockdown
Harry might want out of his contract with Melbourne due to the risks associated with the current Covid outbreak in Victoria

“I’m happy to say on record that if I went to some other clubs I would have been a 100 or 150-gamer at best,” said Cronk, whose decorated career included four premierships with the Storm and Sydney Roosters, 38 international caps and 22 Origin appearances for Queensland.

“But because I landed at [some good clubs] particularly Melbourne Storm at first … the work ethic and the resources they gave me, I was able to achieve things I never thought were possible.

“For Harry Grant, if the situation comes up, find the club that you think is going to make you become a better person and footy player.”

The problem with these comments from Cronk is that it ignores a lot of really promising players who haven't made it at Melbourne and haven't kicked on. He talks about his own success like it's possible for any player to replicate it just by signing with Melbourne but look at Brody Croft, talented young player who hasn't kicked on despite getting his shot there. Plenty of others have gone nowhere at Melbourne. Player development isn't all about the club and his comments are pretty one-sided and narrow minded for a supposed 'commentator' now. Cronk, take your Rooster storm glasses off or stop pretending to be anything but a fanboy masquerading as a commentator.

As for Grant, I'd think it unlikely he stays but he's certainly helping us out this year.

This is why the NRL can never expand properly. Powerful clubs hoard talent as they are all self interested Brandon Smith should be the best hooker in the game. Great players should be starting somewhere in their position. Trade system would be ideal.

I thought his contract ends in 2021????

Grant is contracted to the Storm until the end of 2022..an official approach can't be made until Nov 2021 unless the Storm give him permission to do so..

Media/fans hold the belief he has a get out clause should Cammy go around again next year but that has never been confirmed by either Club or player..

Cammie will play 7 next season , Munster 6 , grant at 9 , Papenhuyzen at 1

But what happens to B.Smith….Bellamy promised him the 9 next year...

Oh I forgot...Harry has developed amazingly well under Madges coaching, that Bellamy is going to go back on his word and treat Harry like the prodgical son and put him straight in the 9,which Harry had no hope of getting this year..
Im glad we have had Harry and that he has done very well while here with us,a credit to Madge, the club and the squad...
Now Melb will get a quality NRL D/H,which they always had but it took a swap deal with us to showcase the kids unbelievable talent for them to now have a replacement for Cammy ready to go....

Is Liddle going to start some time this year....do we keep waiting on our best young D/H to come out of Rehab every few months, wrong argument Hap...Liddle has been given development and chances to make it at NRL level...he just keeps getting injured through no fault of his own..
As far as I know Liddle was to replace RF when he went...Harry was behind B.Smith who was promised the 9 after Cammy retires...

It's complete baloney from Cronk. In the same way that Tedesco has become arguably the codes' best footballer and Aaron Woods played many years or Origin when at the Tigers, despite Tigers not figuring in the finals. Game 3 2016 featured Farah, Woods and Tedesco and Tigers finished 9th.
