Geo we need to throw him the dollars hopefully it gets him over the line

He’s contracted for another 3 years. We could throw 5 million a year at him and it wouldn’t matter if Melbourne don’t release. After the way they handled JAC’s release request, don’t hold your breath. They know what they have with this kid.

I thought his contract ends in 2021????

Grant is contracted to the Storm until the end of 2022..an official approach can't be made until Nov 2021 unless the Storm give him permission to do so..

Media/fans hold the belief he has a get out clause should Cammy go around again next year but that has never been confirmed by either Club or player..

Cammie will play 7 next season , Munster 6 , grant at 9 , Papenhuyzen at 1

But what happens to B.Smith….Bellamy promised him the 9 next year...

Oh I forgot...Harry has developed amazingly well under Madges coaching, that Bellamy is going to go back on his word and treat Harry like the prodgical son and put him straight in the 9,which Harry had no hope of getting this year..
Im glad we have had Harry and that he has done very well while here with us,a credit to Madge, the club and the squad...
Now Melb will get a quality NRL D/H,which they always had but it took a swap deal with us to showcase the kids unbelievable talent for them to now have a replacement for Cammy ready to go....

Baloney. Grant was a standout in the Storms preseason trials. He is a great player that has been developed in a great system. We may have given him the opportunity in first grade but the credit for his development goes to Melbourne, not us.

Avo,he may have been a standout in preseason and Melb may have developed him in their system, but WTs and Madge have developed him as an NRL D/H which he would not have been at Storm THIS YEAR....

He would have been just as effective at the storm as he is here.

I think everyone's needs to calm a little. I agree Harry is killing it at the moment but remember that Luke Brooks started his first grade career on fire also.........

Sorry ...Harry Grant and Luke Brooks are on completely different planetary orbits

Even the artist formerly known as Geo would agree

What's being missed he is Grant was allowed to develop his craft out of the spotlight by carving Up Queensland Cup for a few years learning off Cammy and Bellyache at the same time..

So when his time came at 22 he was ready for the NRL to hit the ground running ..he got there the old fashioned way..

A lot of Clubs don't have that luxury and throw kids in at 19/20 where they have to learn in the NRL because there isn't another option..it's a tough ask..

Simpkin is a weapon though mate . I’m pretty sure he already played Q cup last year . He has a better kicking game already than grant and close to the line it looks like he’s a real handful . Grants game management is Very , very good .
Honestly I rate grant extremely highly , but if we don’t keep him , with Jacob and Jake waiting in the wings it’s not the end of the world

Agree..I would like Grant to be here cause he's ready now..I'm not one of the one's who think it will be a tragedy and the end of existence if he returns..

The only problem I have with Simpkin is due to covid the only development he is getting apart from training is carving up Rugbeh League live on playstation...can't be helped and no one's fault..

He’s be knee deep in opposed sessions I reckon.
Hopefully it’s a case of training against an NRL team is better than playing against a below par NSW cup team

Easy come, easy go, so enjoying Harry's footy for now, then will welcome Liddle and Simpkin if ready next season.

Just like last year, when we enjoyed what's the matter son and now happy to have Lucy filling a role in the 2020 side.

Matterson was contracted to us this year, where’s he at? Moses had a contract , how did that end up? Morris had a contract at the sharks, where is he playing this year? Bateman is contracted to the raiders next year, where’s he going.

Where always on the losing end of players wanting out. If the kid wants to stay here , throw the kitchen sink at him, contract or no contract with the storm. Being the nice guys who play by the rules has gotten us no where in the last ten years.

Except Moses and Matterson didn’t play for Melbourne who appear to hold players to contracts.

They were talking about this on 360 ...players wants out ...kicks stones for 6 weeks ...his mentality screws with the team ethics and they let him go

Why would you care what happens at ISC / Qld Cup

That’s what happen with Mitch the tanker. He went to the club and said he wanted a release. Cleary told him they had no replacement for him so he would have to stay to the end of the season. So Mitch kicked stones and basically was a passenger for a couple of games..so the club were forced to give into his demands. When Matterson played the same game, they knew they had give him a release because he could become a toxic influence on the squad

Shaun Lane did the same thing at Manly to Barrett...oddly enough went to Parra..there appears to be a pattern here..

So did Waqa Blake .... and Ryan Matterson

This is why the NRL can never expand properly. Powerful clubs hoard talent as they are all self interested Brandon Smith should be the best hooker in the game. Great players should be starting somewhere in their position. Trade system would be ideal.

Melbourne aren't exactly hoarding talent. If you have a look at their squad, it is mostly full of no-names. However, just about any of them could do a job at first grade level due to the amazing systems they have in place down there.

What if Cammie starts at 7, then he decides what is best for the side is him at 9. Also, what will the Storm be paying for him , will they have enough to upgrade his contract. Also, will the Storm be the same side when Bellamy leaves. This is why Grant should leave Storm if Cammie remains.

This is true but they have big money invested in QLD. The reason we don’t have the talent coming through of some of the bigger clubs is they spend 10x what we do on talent. Most don’t even spend much on junior development but they give them 6 figure contracts in their teens.

I think everyone needs to settle down on Harry. We all know the situation and don't need to make this a 100 page thread over something out of control.

I wouldn’t put much stock into Bellamy promising B Smith the role. If another kid comes along who happens to be the best 9 in the comp after 5 games, you run with that kid. Tough luck for B Smith.

Side note .. seen Liddle running hard with team yesterday , this goes well for the remainder of the season ,if Harry gets injured and something to prove !

They reckon he’ll be fit for round 14/15. Doubt he gets a run but it’ll be good to have him there just in case

This is a situation we should monitor.....if either B Smith or Grant don't like how things are panning out for them then we have spots, and soon cash, to fill. We also have a selling point of a club on the rise (at this stage) and I think plenty to offer. Either of those guys is a player to build around and to let them know that would play into their ego, subconsciously or not

The decline of the Broncos has a lot to do with the Storm. They have developed no one in Melbourne and signed the best young kids from QLD and spent big money on development on teenagers. Melbourne is the best in the league at it I have no issue with them at all they don’t buy stars. Only point I make is clubs have to do the right thing by players and the league by having 3 rep level players at the same position.

He was always the Cam replacement . There’s been whispers about him for years . And , QRL folk have been raving about him for years as well.
I’m not sure what youre saying ?

I don't know if we keep him or he has to go back, but whatever happens with Harry I can only wish all the best to him,he is an exceptional young man and player....
What we should be thinking also is that the Wests Tigers and Madge the coach has definitely given the guy a platform for a future superstar career..

Also the way the Tigers play surely suits and show cases Harry’s game better than the structured sanitised dirge Melbourne dishes up week after week (boooorrrring!!!)...Watching that game against Canterbury was like watching the free flowing Weststigers of old.

EXCLUSIVE: Cameron Smith could play to 40 as Super League halfback, Andrew Johns says
By Tim Elbra NRL

Joey's solution for Smith's next move

Cameron Smith could ease Melbourne's hooker headache and extend his career three more years by becoming a Super League halfback, Andrew Johns says. And a sneak preview is expected to happen on Thursday night, with Smith to play as a No.7 when the Storm face the Roosters.

It is unclear if Smith, 37, will retire after this season despite initial expectations that he would. He remains arguably the NRL's best player, defying all logic after 418 first grade games and 102 representative matches (Test, Origin, All Stars).

Yet if Smith played on in the NRL, the Storm would get a full-blown migraine when it came to their hooker position.

New Zealand Test rake Brandon Smith has patiently waited for his chance to start at No.9, only for Harry Grant to stamp himself as a future rep player while on loan at Wests Tigers. Even without Cameron Smith in the mix for next season, Melbourne would face tough choices.

Johns told Wide World of Sports that Smith could make things easier for his club by heading abroad, while extending his iconic career without joining an NRL rival.

"If he went to England, for big money over there, to play halfback, he could play for another two to three years," Johns said on Freddy and the Eighth.

"Good experience for the family, then he's not going to another club [in the NRL], he's going to England.

"Imagine what he'd do for Super League, that promotion of him playing away at all the other teams; the grounds would be packed. "He could play halfback; he could play with a cigarette in his mouth."

Smith has achieved everything in rugby league while playing hooker, for Melbourne Queensland and Australia. He has mastered a user-friendly version of the game late in his career, running judiciously so that he's rarely tackled and deftly absorbing contact in defence.

Yet he still makes a mountain of tackles defending in the middle, something that he could avoid as a halfback. He already plays first-receiver at times for Melbourne and runs the game in a fashion akin to a top No.7, whether he's at dummy-half or one-out.

"Cameron Smith's happy with the day-to-day of being a rugby league player, I don't know why on earth he'd retire," NRL great Brad Fittler said on Freddy and the Eighth.

Smith retired from representative football early in 2018, before that year's Origin series. He played 56 Tests for the Kangaroos and made 42 Maroons appearances, plus four for the NRL All Stars.

I doubt Smith's ego would let him go to the UK.....he wouldn't be the protected species he is here....
