Has the injury affected Lawrence?

6 errors, flirting with the sideline all night, stupid reads in defense, jumping onto Burgess when the ball was never going there. An injury which happened several years ago does not cause that. Lawrence, just like Ayshford has become pure crap.

Its more than that. I think he has lost passion for the game, he has matured from a raw athlete with great potential to a "business" man who has other priorities.

He has his own business on the side, married and probably thinking about kids. His race horse Koroibete (which by the way he never visits at the stable). IMO he has lost all desire for rugby league. Which is sad because he was one of our best for 3-4 years, two seasons prior.

C'mon Milky there are already 2 or 3 Lawrence threads going, this topic has been debated ad nauseum.

Literally - debated to the point of inducing nausea.

Does a bear defecate in the woods?

Of course it did, he almost crippled himself. I've always said what happened to Lawrence was like what happened to Dwyer only on a smaller scale. People forget about the player he was and like to act like he's been this player all along which is complete bs. He was on track to being the best centre in the world, he didn't come into first grade playing like a hack.

Of course, the injury changed everything, though alarmingly its his lack of football IQ that hurts more…

Hopefully the game just was a horrific once in a lifetime shocker, but even so he should be dropped to let everyone know, not only himself, that playing poorly is unacceptable and put a culture of higher expectations back on the table.

I think me may be wading into waters where Potters current tact has run its course, performances now lack the punch of earlier in the year, and a brutal but deserved dropping of Chris to Reggies may send the message loud and clear, if not drop someone deserving next week as well...

IMO the injury is an excuse to put his sh*t performances down to - just because he is a nice guy, it's just a great excuse to excuse his crap form.

I think it has more to do with his headspace and attitude. Someone touched on it above but he has become comfortable and lost his passion as he has grown up.

When he was playing good, he was focused, raw and aggressive - long locks to go with it.

Shame really..

I actually think he is playing a lot harder this year than last. His straight line running always looks like a handful to contend with. He will continue to score tries as a consequence if given the ball at the right time.
I think its a bit rough and unfair to say that he has lost his passion for footy. He makes mistakes but hes not our worst.
I don't mind him being named each week.

not if there's no one around to see it!

Chris was always a one trick pony, he was a fast big kid that could hit a gap created by a clever player inside him. Now he is a slower big man that cant get through the gaps and if he is lucky enough to get through a gap he has not the pace to go on with it.

He still has some value, especially close to the line, but most big young kids could do the same thing

Always?
Nup.

how about a team list as well?

1\. Tedesco
2\. Koroibete
3\. Nofo
4\. Simona
5\. Richards

How about a thread that says Is Simona playing as well as Rowdy in 2014?

Answer: NO!

Oh! right the ball is not going to his side. Oh! players on his side of the field are not as good.
Excuses are not good enough. If they're not good enough for Rowdy, they are not good enough for Simona.

He was not the worst player out there last Friday and he has been better than most all year.

Get off his back for God's sake. :deadhorse:

I thought you were serious there for a minute until I read the bold… good job trying to lighten a sour thread with a touch of comedy.

It's bad enough when people try and play physiotherapist on the forum, but I loathe the virtual psychiatrist's couch where the forum tries to comment on the mindset and attitude of a man they've never met.

Simona is a better player on the left

Sorry Milky but this is the silliest thread on Lawrence

He went from being the 3rd or 4th best centre in the game to what he has become today

Its not rocket science

He has recovered from a dislocated hip and multiple hamstring tears but he will never be what he was

Having known Danny Peacock who also dislocated his hip while playing for the GC he was told if he didn't get back to his best in two years he never would

That was the early 90's so things may have improved , but from what we have seen that still seems to be the case

But I think its the hammy issues that have slowed him , if you look at the try that Beau scores v the Saints when we showed no mercy on Soward Rowdy seems to be moving quickly until he tears his hammy when he throws the inside pass

This repeated question drives me mad. Rowdy was in career BEST form AFTER his hip injury. He was tearing it up for Australia, AFTER his hip dislocation.

His repeated hammy problems may be a different issue, but I am sick to death of people saying that his hip injury affected his form.

Oh and yes, it is utterly offensive for people here to pretend they know what is going on in Chris' mind or personal life or to make up scenarios of his state of mind. Its rude, offensive and I think defamatory
