Jackson Hastings #251

Do you think Hastings failed at WT?
I don’t think he failed. Thought he was one of our best and showed some leadership.

Agree on all that, he simply wasn't our best in the halves, no matter how much we wished he could have been.

I wish him all the best at Newcastle, and look forward to the second round clash at Leichhardt.

We have a better half than Hastings, which makes me wonder why we’re chasing Moses?

Well we currently have zero halfbacks in the NRL squad
I thought Moses left because we were a circus and we’ve gone downhill since then.
Sure we’ve signed a few forwards but they haven’t put it on the park yet.
The only way Moses will come to WT is if he believes strongly that, if it was Brooks who went to Eels in 2017 and he stayed at WT, their fortunes would be reversed. We would be offering Brooks $1.4m to leave Eels.
If by some strange twist we sign Moses, then we need to hang onto Brooks.

Best game manager we've had in years - Game managed us to our worst result in our history....
I liked some things about him on the field.... Hated many others.
We won't miss him next year as much as has been implied.
If you're referring to the Roosters game Hastings didn't even play

It’s not that simple though. Ts purely speculation. Our squad will be stronger across the park in 2023 and he missed some crucial games so we may lot have had our worst season ever.

I was an Hastings fanboy. I think he was good for us but now I think he’s being a pork chop in the media so I’ve moved on.

I see, so Hastings remains the benchmark for halves, even though he plays at another club? We go after any half who is better than Hastings, regardless of how many halves we have?

You can see what you want or choose to see.

I see Sheens, Benji and possibly Robbie as well, that also viewed Hastings as other than WT best halfback and along with getting Klemmer, that is why he is no longer here. Don't think that is up for argument.

I would have kept him on as a ball distributor and back-up in the halves, whilst they chose let him go immediately.

We're improved in the forwards but definitely weaker in the halves without Jackson. We are currently rudderless as there is not one game manager amongst the squad
Hastings was the Knights' Plan B for 7. Brooks was the Knights' Plan A. You don't believe the decision makers at WTs so perhaps you may believe the decision makers at another NRL club.

The team the year before didn't go as poorly,
And had much the same squad - With the addition of Hastings.
He was our big in for 22 and we went worse... Than we've ever gone.

Where's the speculation in that?

The situation is more complex than this though. It's the same as blaming Brooks for years of poor performances by the club. It's a team sport.

Sheens tanked last season as much as anyone.

No - Give me some credit.

Winning 4 games - Wooden Spoon....
are our worst results in history.
We won zero games with Brooks at 7 this year, whilst Hastings played a key role in all our wins. Fair enough you have some thoughts about him off the field but why are you trying to discredit what he did for us on the field this year? Brooks actually credited Hastings for the impact the had on the team.

Brooks appears to be more of an edge runner of the footy. He can create out there and did a good job. Hastings was much better in my opinion organizing in the middle.

I would have had Hastings at 7 and I think Doueihi at 6. I think Doueihi is a better edge runner than Brooks.

The issue is money comes into the picture as well and Hastings and Doueihi both appear to want big bucks. I know Brooks is reportedly on a good salary but he won't get that once his current contract is over.

Gee there's some strange analysis of social media and interviews here. These attacks on Hastings character are unnecessary. Maybe he was good for the team, maybe not; but it feels like revisionism to treat him like some kind of cancer at our club.

The only thing we can judge is his performance on the field and I have no doubt he was all effort and commitment out there with none of the Mitchell Moses like carry-on.

Why is there a need to rip into a player just because we've traded him? Not really his doing.

Because the Brooks cult and apologists are the equivalent of a pack of bitchy insecure highschool girls.

Anyone who has ever presented even the tiniest threat to their lord and saviour, they have to immediately try to tear down. See AD, Hastings who have outplayed Brooks over the last two years respectively. It’s one of the most pathetic things I have ever seen and I can’t think of another player across any professional sport who has such a delusional following.

Conveniently forgetting the number of top 30 players missing large chunks of the season with injury and the coach getting knifed had any impact on results?
