Thinking more about this signing, I can think of 1066 reasons to back up his recruitment.

if only we still had Saxon vale wines as a sponsor.

We've signed him so I'm on board. Could be the ball playing lock we need, a solid bodied 14 or a quality option for the halves.

Like most kids, he seems to have matured and the England move was probably great for him. I see more upside than downside but I'd prefer we hang onto Mbye and see how it goes. We could always release Moses part way through next year if he has a suitor and Hastings is performing.

Classic wests tigers forum!

I bet they didn't watch the full highlights either before down voting.
I wish it was a requirement of forum members to give reasoning behind disliking a post or at least remove people's anonymity.

Why? Who cares? It’s an Internet forum. (Wasn’t me, I don’t downvote)

It's a discussion forum, some people seem more content to use the dislike button than discuss the post like Siro's post above.
I've never down voted either, I'd rather tell the person why I disagree with them.

I’m with 5150. There’s enough jibber on here now with out people reasoning why.
It’s gotta be a bad post before I will dislike it and generally it has multiple already
I use the thumbs up for 2 things acknowledging a reply to my post but not always do I agree but also when I agree with a post.
If I could type quickly I would reply more but more often than not I refrain due to being slow and more often than not another poster has written the same thoughts

Not arguing against it, just curious what has changed in the two years he has been gone. Two years ago no CEO of any club, ANY CLUB, would touch him with a 10 foot pole as he was considered damaged goods. The fact that we will be his 6th club in eight seasons kind of backs that up.
I'm all for giving a bloke a second chance, but are we now "the last chance saloon" for the NRL's problem children , BJ, JTJ, Zane and now Hastings. Just curious, since Potter every coach and admin has talked about a positive culture and growing our stars, how does that stack up with buying problems.

Well 2 years ago nobody wanted to sign Ryan Papenhuyzen, 2 years ago Dragons had no idea what to do with Matt Dufty, 2 years ago Broncos signed arguably the most in-demand young coach going around and Souths had to then sign his predecessor. 2 years ago Ryan Matterson was in career-best form at the Tigers and Luke Brooks was reigning Dally M halfback of the year.

So I'd say a lot has changed in two year and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he's not a knob any more.

I'm praying he is going to be a gun. I really hope we haven't given out a massive contract but I don't think we have. It's a 2 year contract presumably not on massive dollars from a player who appears to be killing it and is well liked in that comp.

It sucks he isn't coming here this season.

Hi champ, I for one certainly hope he is not a knob, but there are a lot of warning signs, as I said I was more curious about the situation, has he changed or are we that desperate or both.

That's fair enough Red. I use similar upvoting logic as you and ignore 90% of posts I disagree with rather than comment on them. I guess I am in the minority that thinks down voting doesn't have a place on a forum.

Back on topic, I'm giving this signing the benefit of the doubt. It's no point arguing at this stage whether JH has matured in the last couple of years or whether he can carry his form over to the NRL.
No doubt Madge and Hartigan have done their due diligence, more so than the many of the experts on this forum. The only blemish I have of theirs is BJ, however they have mostly managed to make a number of astute signings whilst fixing the cap mess left by their predecessors.

Sorry just to be clear I wasn't bagging you out nor being sarcastic; I realise you were musing and I realised I could think of tonnes of things that have changed in 2 years, so why not add Hastings to it.

Lol- you got downvoted a few times for saying that.
I agree ... you can see who upvoted you but the down voters hide in the shadows.
BTW I’ll bet it’s the same guys downvoting anybody who dares to be critical of Brooks.

I dont think Brooks fans get upset at anyone being critical of him, it’s more that it’s never backed up by a valid argument. It’s always a regurgitated quote from some article. “He’s played 150 games” or “it’s been 10 years”

Yep, can't say I was surprised though. I've noticed a lot of people on this forum like to use the down vote button to discredit someone. It should seldomly be used IMO, not every time someone has an opposing view to you.

Hastings has signed..

Team running second last no finals again this season same 7 for 150 games with no success ..what ever position Hastings has been signed for the guy can play 7 the pressure is on at last !

It as simple as that.

Every player in the team should be under pressure to hold their form and do their job. The club felt we didnt have someone to do that to Luke Brooks, enter Hastings.

Might be the making of Luke Brooks.

Interesting that Brooks has been playing well but you choose to ignore it.

I did not choose to ignore that. I completely disagree.

He has been playing 'ok', thats about it.

He does nothing when we actually need him, His confidence is shot and his form is declining. Doueihi is taking on a more senior role accordingly.

Not making mistakes because the other half is dealing with the pressure you cant is not playing well.

Tamou had no idea about the Hastings news when asked on Monday, but he was happy to hear about the half’s pending arrival.

“I think that is great for the club moving forward,” Tamou said.

“Jackson has gone really well over in the Super League in the last couple of years.

“Obviously coming through the Roosters juniors, he has definitely got something there that I think will be important to this club.

“Having those couple of years of experience over in the Super League will be important to him, and just to bring his attacking prowess to this team will be important.”

Can Tamou, our captain, tell us what "coming thorugh the Roosters juniors" has to do with Hastings' benefit to WT?

He's (Tamou) been here 5 minutes and already feels safe to make comparisons with the Roosters systems and those of WT. Seriously?

I concur, Tamou needs to display more skills than jumping pulling and dressing gown modelling on the sideline before waving lyrical about the Roosters system (he’s never experienced it).
Hastings does not have the speed of Brooks but he has the mongrel and game management that will save Madge’s career - Douhe is safe but Brooks is not, Hastings is here to run the side at halfback and he’ll provide the leadership and toughness that was bestowed upon Brooks when was remunerated his mega salary!
Let’s not upset the apple cart for this season - I love the fairy tale about Hastings playing lock - it’s so fanciful and a little bit naughty but I’m going to derive so much pleasure watching Madge handle Brooks with a poker face .. the writing is on the wall (so big you can see it from space).... after 8 seasons of half-hearted plays, rubbish kicking game, lack of urgency all deflected at Benji and Reynolds it’s time to realise Brooks does not have the skills required.
Brooks: “You are the Weakest Link - Goodbye”

Do you write fiction professionally or is it just a hobby?

The writing is on the wall - don’t stick your head in the sand. We have a professional coach with his reputation on the line - he’s hardly going to sit back and apply bandaids to the wound year after year.
Brooks has the ability but mentally he’s not capable to bring it to fruition.
Our Sponsors will not commit forever waiting for your Happy Ending.

Absolutely agree. Doueihi reminds me so much of Jack Wighton. Could probably play centre well but is such a waste of talent out wide where he wouldn’t get his hands on the ball much

Guess we see how this year pans out. But his big frame is exactly why I think he would be value out wider. Great kick target.

Welcome Jackson.

I am thrilled by the signing. He is a better player than many realise. What he did at Salford was remarkable.

A lot of people seem to be over the top in their criticism of Super League, often without ever watching it. Our best player since the 2005 squad came from the Super League.

I don't care in the slightest if he's a little bit arrogant (which I think is exaggerated to begin with). Our team needs arrogance. It needs a talker. It needs players who back themselves.

I agree. Show me a half back that isn't arrogant and I'll show you ........ Luke Brooks.

Post of the month.

Best way to look at this Signing.

- Would you prefer Mybe at full freight

OR

- Hastings + Funding Mybe to play elsewhere

Hasting's has a higher ceiling AND can cover 7

(13-14 is where he's been signed to play)
