Can’t believe people are still analysing a players form in ESL. Do you guys actually grasp the drop in skill level over there? I’m not sure you do, otherwise you wouldn’t be putting so much stock into it

People need to base a future players skill/style from where they last play. The level of esl to nrl is massive. I don’t think Hastings or Gildart are game changers for us. Hope I’m wrong but seen enough of them last few years to not have as much faith as others do here. Hastings is a 14 based on coverage and style of play but he isn’t a good defensive player in ESL & we know the speed/size gap in NRL. Gildart could be a solid center but can’t see him being better than AJ or Talau when space closes down on him he is quite. He should make less errors as he is safe but the NRL gives no space so all that will get tested quickly.

We are looking at a Brooks Hastings partnership.

As long as brooksy can handle someone wanting to actually lead the team around it should work alright

Shut up man . Seriously . It’s getting old . Brooks has been the best player on the field the last 5 weeks . It’s not his fault , when AD is out , the right side turns into a big massive turd , that lets in 50 points a game .

I remember once we played a team , they made a line break down the other side of the field from the 30m , I chased them hard to tackle their strike centre on the goal line , holding him up , with help from our half . I was busted after , as I was a big boy at the time .
You know how my backs respected that play ? The following scrum ,which I packed down in , They let thier small winger from the other side of the field stroll in , in the corner . I looked up to see all my effort , was just a waste of time .Sometimes it doesn’t matter what you do .

Telling people to shut up and then recounting a story from your childhood won’t make you any friends or prove your point.
Accept the fact that everybody else doesn’t idolise Brooks like you do.

Childhood ? Lol no , it wasn’t childhood . Much later than that .

Im trying to figure out why you didn’t get back up and back in defence

Hasting comments on Wigan's struggles

They are 5th on the ladder - for them that is a failure. Wigan expects success every year, they have a winning culture.

Wow imagine being 5th

I now understand culture and especially a winning culture. It means the fans are spoiled little brats.

You never know until they get here. Bateman did well. Can’t write them off either.

At this stage they’re our only signings for next year. It’s the only shred of hope we’ve got.

It's only early, next season is a long way off.

But what position needs new blood?

For me, it would be a FB with size, nothing against Laurie, but he just doesn't seem to be the one imo?

Laurie is one of the good ones IMO and I would definitely be persisting with him at 1. I like him a lot.

We need to win the collision so I think we could do with a hard hitting middle and second rower. In the backs pace is an issue but not sure what we do. Nofo and Maumolo aren’t fast, neither is AD, so Gildart would need to have exceptional pace. Alternatively I still think AD has potential at 6. With the season being gone perhaps we could give him more time there and potentially go for another speedy outside back.

On Hastings he is currently playing at 103kg, which is fair lump for a half. A lot of his problems in the past have been due to a will to win which has caused problems with more senior players when he would call them out about their form in a disrespectful manner. Apparently he has worked on the manner he does that that but is still someone who demands high standards from his team mates. Sounds like the type of person we need as long as his own form is up to scratch.

They are in the same boat as the Roosters with injuries .....that's why they wouldn't release Hastings in 21

Sheens has high praise for Hastings in the way he has turned his persona around…

From above looks like he drives standards at Wigan…something we need off the field as well as on it..

2021 and it has been very hard anyone that looks like a leader at Wests tigers. That has been the main problem with the team.

Spot on. Can only speak like that if you can back it up yourself. And if he can, fantastic, we need voices like that.

If he's a leader he needs to be in the halves... hopefully they don't move him around just to accomodate Brooks though. He and Doueihi could be a real nice halves combo, Doueihi also a very good centre if Brooks plays well too.

Sounds like Sheensy likes Jackson, could be good for us.

I think a AD/ Hastings combo lacks pace, the plan is for a Brooks Hastings pairing. Though at 103kg Hastings could play 13.

Honestly I'm not too worried if my halves are fast. It's definitely nice but they're both still strong runners of the footy who provide a threat near the line and have good passing games

Just don't see Brooks ever putting a team on his back and leading them to success. Would be a much better 6 than 7 but for some reason struggles with it. He needs to learn to be vocal and take control of a game if he wants to stay at 7 imo because Hastings and Doueihi are happy to take that role of leader

You probably already know my opinion on this but AD needs to show a big improvement when given another opportunity in the halves.

I don't watch a lot of ESL but when I have it's clear they don't base their game around defence. It's difficult to single out poor defenders when they're surrounded by poor defenders who offer little support - something with which we're all too familiar with LL, AD etc on the edges.

I'm willing to assess him 'in situ' - waiting till he arrives and see how he goes in the team. I'm not sure where he fits in but he clearly has ability and if he brings a winning attitude I hope it rubs off on the rest.

He's still a kid and already one of our best. He's a good centre but he doesn't get to touch the ball enough there sometimes which is why I'd like him further infield during a game. In the close games I want our best players in control

What about Tamou ? He was a great leader at Penrith. He seems to be doing the same job here.
