What an infantile comment if Robbie went there he would tear as a new one.

True, it was a bit of a cheap shot but the bottom line for me is I don't care where he goes as long as he does it sooner than later.
Re tearing us a new one, he will do that wherever he ends up if he leaves. For me I'd rather see him at his best scoring points against WT as an opponent than stifling WT ability to score points from within.
On the other hand he could always stay at WT, swallow his pride and play the way the coach wants him to. Reckon he'll do that?

Give it a rest, it's a Hayne thread :unamused:

There's no restrictions in terms of timing for signing players from outside the NRL.

Only because the NRL changed the rules.

No they didn't the rule has been the same for years in you can't swap RL clubs after June 30 but you can come in from not having a club which is what Hayne did. No rules were changed and they got the required clearance from the NRL which if he had just wanted to sign for the rest of this season he wouldn't have but with 2 extra years he did. The same rules were discussed when Benji came back that if it was after June 30 that would be fine but he couldn't sign on for part of a season and then go play Japnaese rugby

As others have said, it could destablize the playing group by him playing this yr. Just like he was happy to steal a Fijian's players spot, here he is doing it again. They've worked hard all season the Titans, incuding the off season. That's nearly 12 months. Now one of those players whose done all that hard work will be shafted to make way for a glory hound, because that's what Hayne is. I still remember when NSW won in 2014 and on fulltime he needlessly ran the ball from the 20m line all the way beyond the dead ball line to the fence to allow himself to get mobbed why he stood there with his arms stretched out. He honestly thinks of himself as the Australian Lebron James.

No the rule is you can not get a clearance from your previous club after June 30\. I dont care and actually think good for the game, just wish the NRL had been honest about it.

I have to agree i cant see much benefit in him playing this year as good as he can be

Moses is the big worry, Gus has his eye on him and if it is not for the Panthers its for his mate Uncle Nick over at city ford. Be one hell of a circus on the forum from November, when all the horse trading for 2018 begins. Hate to be Pascoe and Buckets trying to keep all the predators at bay

Yep, I heard the Bulldogs were putting an offer to SBW and Israel Folau just to play in the finals series ????

So you think Hayne needed clearance from a club he hasn't played for for over 2 years? Lol, right…

If it's in the rules I don't have a problem with it, no matter how it may impact us.

If the roles were reversed and he was coming to us I'd be praying he'd be getting a start with us ASAP.

It is 100% against the rules. You can not get a clearance from your old club after June 30.

Which club? the 49'ers or the Fijian Sevens team?

The registration form for rugby league asks if you have ever played rugby league before? If the answer is yes, you must obtain a clearance from your previous club.
Has Hayne played rugby league before?

Really? I would wager the NRL form looks different to a Group 6 form.

He does not currently play for another club, he was not even playing the code until he signed with the Schoolies, I can't understand how he would need permission from a club he hasn't played for nearly 2 years.

I know you're being facetious, but the difference is the Titans had oodles of cap space - the Dogs do not.

You would be wrong, it is a national form put out by the NRL. I actually believe he should have been given an exemption. I just think the NRL should have said they gave him one. Its a technicallity anyway so no use argueing over it.

Fair enough, I don't mean to come across like a prat about it. I just find it hard to believe that the rego form for an NRL player is the same as a park footy player. The rule about having permission from your previous club despite having no contract or not playing for them for nearly 2 seasons is just bizarre IMO.

It didn't seem to destabilize them too much when Hurrell and Peats joined.

I agree 100%, but everytime a player signs with a new club they do require a clearance from there old club.

Funny story with players signing b4 the June 30 deadline, Ellery Hanley signed for Balmain in 1988 5 mins before the deadline.

I bet there'd be no problem if it was us , that had picked up a top player under the same
circumstances, we'd be jumping with joy
He was a free agent, and the rule that he could play was already there, for any one not registered . Hope he goes great for the Titans
Two kids in the team that my son coaches have swapped to following the Titans instead of the Donkeys, plus my g/ son ( same team)has swapped from WTs to the them as well.
That's all they were talking about this afternoon at training.
He's going to be worth every cent to the Titans, in Every way

If you have a look at the clearance policy itself it can only be refused on the following grounds:

i. Fees in default
ii. Fees on property owing
iii. Pending tribunal or judiciary matters
iv. Contractual agreements in dispute

Unless they wanted to try and rely upon the "lifetime agreement" (which was probably so qualified as to be meaningless) then they had no basis to refuse a clearance and it probably did get processed in the ordinary manner.

The permission you are talking about is to make sure that Players don't owe money to the club that they have left, mainly a formality and a phone call from the club concerned is sometimes all that is required
I doubt that the NRL requirements are exactly the same as park football clubs . If it is , then I'm sure that that has been done. It takes about two minutes to write a clearance
And press send

Contractual Lawyers to the thread please…

This needs sorting out....
