I’m a septuagénaire with a diagnosed borderline personnalité disorder. I love the WestsTigers. It is a strong brand for any kind of sporting club (except maybe a hunting club) Not even the boneheads at the NRL would let the Tiger, an apex predator, disappear from the NRL. The colours of the most prévalent Tiger in the wild are Orange, Black & White. There is a mutant Tiger which is Black and White and Grey. Only a handfull exist because they have inbred to imminent extinction. Most people call our team the Tigers because in linguistiques the sts-T combo is difficult for the tongue used to pronounce English words. We can train the tongue but we can’t call a Tiger Black and White without being forced onto the Short Bus.
 
If the NRL and L&G do nothing, then HBG will continue to bring destabilisation and dysfunction to Wests Tigers, as that has been the constant under their administration. Wests Tigers will be destined to continued failure.

It's entirely a status thing for these board members and debenture holders and nothing else - HBG make plenty of money from pokies revenue and contribute bugger all to Wests Tigers compared to what other Sydney clubs get paid from their Leagues clubs (this is a good thing for WT) so there is no need to sell off the club. They just like stirring the pot for their own agendas and networking (as you pointed out).

There would be no need for any of us to want new owners if HBG had a proper democracy where idiots like Dennis Burgess could be voted out and held accountable. Every single one of us would be WA members and turn up to vote in the best interest of the Leagues club which would then flow to the football club.
 
My thoughts are the NRL are pleased with WTs improved off field and on field performance under Richardson and the old board. What has happened is bad for the NRL brand considering it has been self inflicted. In an age where professionalism is demanded, especially when $12m is handed out annually by the NRL to clubs, we await the response from the NRL because this is not about WTs, but a slap down of the NRL's plans for expansion in the SW.. We have the keys to one of the largest growth areas in Sydney, and it is about time we work together to fully realise it's potential.
 
A lot of people see private ownership as our road to salvation. History tells me there are far more failures than successes of clubs who went down this path.

I think the best result would be a total overhaul of the current system of governance and replaced by a board voted in by financial members with strong representation from all stakeholders. I can understand the HB wanting a big say in the decision making process as they are putting up a large chunk of the cash to run the joint. In saying that they should be accountable and replaceable when they are not effective.

Sadly I can’t see the board giving up there current set up without the NRL holding a gun to their heads

But let’s say the conspiracy theory’s are true and we trotted out with a new feathery emblem and minimal orange - you’d still follow yeah ?

After all it’d just be the latest incarnation of our great club.
And Balmain still own 10% 🤷‍♂️

I think it’s more than that. I think HBG couldn’t care less about WT fans. They treat their own members with total contempt. Their business model is to provide cheap food, cheap alcohol and cultivate gambling addiction. It’s morally corrupt.

Bringing back the Magpies would be one hell of a reality check for a few disillusioned fans I tell you!!

They’d lose 80% of their membership, and probably halve game day attendances.

I can appreciate you blokes love your club, but seriously - how many times did it have to die before you realised it’s dead?

The idiot running this shit show thinks he’s going to burst back onto the scene and be the Collingwood Magpies of Campbelltown
- if it wasn’t for the Wests Tigers, the clown wouldn’t even know the way to Campbelltown (that’s how much he cares about the southwest)

I know plenty of former Magpie fans who hate what’s happening to Wests Tigers under these idiots more than they want to return to the Misery of the Black N Whites.

Wests Tigers gave you blokes (I’m mathing all of you) something a lifetime of being a Magpies fan never could, and it’s like you all resent them for it.

The issue is the debenture system . If you removed that for something far more democratic , you wouldn’t get the Dennis Burgess’ of the world who think they own the club . They’d be far more concerned with appeasing whoever keeps them in thier seat . Like every other democratically elected position .
