HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Working with family can be flirting with danger the temptation to help them out can be overwhelming, I hope that it turns out not to be the case but if there's a disguised money trail then he's in trouble.
I had married couples under me and it was such a pain in the arse....very conveniently only one of each held a license, always had to go on A/L together...then kids come into play, its BS

So is The Trunp Organisation. It doesn't mean that there is no conflict of interest and non-commercial arrangements. The players that junior Richo sent to the club would not have got a gig at any other NRL club and it always sniffs when you give family a leg up with other people's money.
The difference is my friend he declared it from the outset. He is publicly on record discussing it. He didn't hide anything.

As for the players, if we're talking about Fats and Charlie Murray...fats was serviceable and worth what we were paying him for a bottom 30 contract. He held his own in NRL and was a good talent in Q Cup when we signed him. Murray was a gap filler and I don't think he's been extended. In fact neither were extended.

A CEO will tap into their resources. If you expect a CEO to never tap into friends, family and acquaintances that they've built over many years then what good are they?

That's more like the fairytale now unfortunately, every new day seems to uncover another knife in the back, this Richo stuff has me feeling a little uncomfortable.
I turn a blind eye to all of that. Richo is fully committed to Wests Tigers and has turned the club around so I don't much care about his history or background noise unless he gets dragged off in handcuffs.

Absolutely. I’m open to any suggestions/models that get us away from what we currently have.
A good outcome for us fans in my opinion is if the Wests Tigers board was elected by the Tigers members that would keep HBG at arm's length.

We choose the four independents, the one Balmain and two Magpies representatives that way if someone acts up, we can vote them out.

The utopia we all crave yes.

Yes he is. If it's Toddy I will walk backwards to Wests Ashfield. His only claim to fame is that he's a trainer who has dated some pretty good-looking women and broke an engagement with Yvonne Sampson (from memory). I know Moley suggested this (if it wasn't a fake post) but the guy has zero CEO credentials in his CV at all. Even HBG wouldn't do this. If they do I'll start walking.
Danica Mason but same network

Given Todd's dad is on the board and a very vocal magpie i would say the push would definitely be on for name change after 2030

Neither do I and probably all of us fans his pros are far in front of the cons but the trouble is the NRL won't look at it that way, if something dodgy has been done they will act.

It is so very simple from all of this.

- HBG fear losing control, so gets rid of the independents on the board.

- Richo works well with the independents, HBG don’t like this, want him out, and in preparation have been subtly collecting things that they could use against him if needed, despite agreeing to them at the time and signing off on them.

- Richo’s contract is well written with the clauses, so HBG would have to pay big to do so, thus get someone to be a whistleblower based on what they have collected to oust him that way and avoid the payment.

- HBG then can place a weak CEO with ties to them who will do their bidding into the role.

- HBG gains all power again and can move forward with any plans they have to destroy the club as it is and bring back the Western Suburbs Magpies.

Out of this it has to be a simple decision for all of us;

1) Richo stays, Independents reinstated, HBG sells and has no link to the club ever again.

Or

2) HBG stays, WE ALL GO.

I like the thrust of what you're saying. The problem is, with HBG as ultimate owners, they are always going to want final approval on some decisions and the way things look now they seem to want too much involvement in football matters. I'd like to know more about how this set-up works in big clubs like Penrith and Canterbury. They have a similar model where the licensed club owns/operates the football club and seem to operate OK. Although Canterbury had had some board issues over the years but nowhere near as toxic as our environment.

Richo is quite chummy with PVL and a lot of the ARLC guys …he would have known most of them for decades no doubt ….might be some blowback for HBG if thats the sole motivation for this
The issue HBG have is that people in the game have known Richo for decades. It's not that easy to smear a bloke who has built up credibility over so many years.

Compare that to the HBG perception around the game and I think Richo comes out on top here.

It's hard to believe that 4 very successful and cleanskin board members (I really don'tcount the Grange incident with BOF - he stepped down immediately anyway) + a long standing and respected CEO are all so terrible.

Gus is their Richo.
