HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

I agree. The more emails he and the NRL get stating it is Wests Tigers vs HBG, and not WSM and BT, the better. He might see what the actual issue is. But as @Tucker (I think) said, maybe he's just sitting tight until he gets more info.
Just sent my personal email to PVL stating exactly that. I don’t want to be a wests tigers supporter in perpetuity to stumble from one inept decision to the next. I want decisions made in the best interests of wests tigers. Most other teams seem to achieve this.

I wonder if Denis ran all this past PVL before acting. Surely if I was PVL I would be spewing chips at Denis?

Unless he counts Denis as an Ally or something?
It's entirely possible. If you look at how PVL runs the comp, it becomes pretty clear that his main priority is keeping the broadcasters and the first grade clubs happy. If the broadcasters are happy, the money keeps rolling, which funds the annual grant to franchise owners, which means they don't have to kick in their own cash. Everyone with any real power is thus content, PVL keeps his job and News Corp write him up like he's a genius.

Look at Las Vegas. This is a case of the NRL using its own money to lay on bonus content for the broadcasters and simultaneously give a big fat junket to cronies in the media, sponsors and others who are in some way important for the comp to keep on side. If the money to pay for that means the NRL underfunding, say, grassroots football in Queensland, well, those under 9s don't pony up millions in sponsorship dollars or decide whether this weeks coverage is going to be complimentary or critical of the NRL. Vegas, baby!

What that all means is that PVL has no incentive at all to rock the boat with submissive club management - unless it gets to the point where other clubs or the broadcasters care about it. Obviously some clubs are closer to the inner circle - ones owned by car sales billionaires, for instance - but if others are supine and hopeless, well, why would PVL care about that?

If the clowns in charge of the Tigers couldn't run a chook raffle and are obsessed with bringing back the Magpies, V'Landys cares about exactly one of those things: making sure the Magpies obsession doesn't make the aforementioned clowns start making waves. And, to be clear, making sure the Wests Tigers are perennially uncompetitive on the field categorically does not qualify as that. As I've said before, someone has to play the Knights mid-afternoon on Saturday in the undercard for the real teams.

I suspect the upshot of this will be absolutely no more than a few more box seats and VIP treatment at the Everest for the HBG directors and V'Landys suggesting they maybe tone it down a bit with the Magpies stuff.

Tl;dr: until someone comes in and buys the licence off HBG this isn't going to change. No external agent is going to come in and force HBG to run the joint professionally.

This, if all the HBG and Wests Tigers board meeting minutes could be released, there's no speculation anymore. Everyone would know exactly what happened and why.
But board meeting minutes in Australia are generally confidential, treated as sensitive internal records for directors, but they aren't absolutely secret and can become discoverable in court or investigations, especially if they contain legal advice (which might be privileged) or are needed to prove directors met their duties.

Members can't generally access director minutes, but minutes of general member meetings are accessible, so careful handling, strong security, clear protocols for privileged content, and legal advice are crucial to protect sensitive info.

I can't see inside info being released to us fan, ever.

It could also publicly shine a light on HBG over their conduct and dysfunction..,and at least get them to pull their heads in over how they act in the future …

Look … I’ll leave it at that … it’s likely that no legal issues take place from the fired board members in any event…
We all want HBG gone but my biggest concern is our players, we just started to turn the corner and don't want the instability to cause rumblings and possible departures.

We have all seen this before, a horror movie.

Pure & simple this whole situation has been caused by a bloc of HBG debenture holders (probably no more than 8) led by Burgess, Montgomery & Tropiano who have plotted the past 18-24 months to reach the situation today.

The removal of these fwits & a change in the governance of HBG is 1 of 3 solutions along with our NRL license being revoked or the NRL stepping in to change the governance of the WT with a majority of independent directors & no overarching power for HBG.

as long as pvl can get access that might be all we need

Yes mate … I’m here hanging out as much as anyone and am aware of the issues …

Apparently no one that matters in the Govt or NRL have an issue with how HBG is run ?

What if our players joined us in the march? Maybe they can refuse to play any matches unless the four independents are reinstated and Richo keeps his job. That would make the NRL act as it would impact their product and cause rumblings with the broadcasters.
