HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

It's very possible.

But we don't know for sure.

It should have been a question asked, demanded...by people in positions to get answers.

We are happy for people to talk about the club falling apart, insiders giving this & that info etc.

Who asked HBG- now what do you plan to do about the independent board spots?

A rally has been organised.

But HBG could have been on the spot the next day if the right questions were asked.
If a car is about to run over my kid, I don’t wait till he’s a pancake.

It would appear so. Or an oversight by whoever reported it.

That said- I imagine not EVERY Wests Magpies board member is simply a HBG yes man/woman.

People might not get a vote on the HBG representation.

I bet they get a vote on Magpies representation though.
It's all on their website. Here it is verbatim.

WSDRLFC (Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club Ltd)

WSDRLFC has 7 members on its board of directors.
- 4 x Directors appointed by Holman Barnes Group
- 3 x Directors directly elected in 3 year terms by eligible Wests Magpies FC members

Leo was appointed...

There are also 2 member elected positions on the HBG board. Ask cochise what happened to those guys.

1 of the 5 will likely be a Wests Magpies Rep. It's just semantics though as the HBG control the Wests Magpies as well.
What is the breakdown of the Magpies board though?

Is it possible that an 'independent' Magpies board member takes the spot?

I'm not stupid enough to think the board isn't loaded. But maybe that is the compromise from PVL?

4 x HBG
1 x Wests (not HBG aligned)
1 x Balmain
3 x Independent

It's still a majority government, but to get the majority isn't as simple. Or is there still a chance a 4th independent comes in?

You and Chad continue to question the opinions of people calling for HBG power to go.

You talk about us not being close enough to it. OK...let's explore that for a second.

What do you say to the independent company that conducted the independent review last year and made the exact recommendations people are calling for now?

They were there. They know more than us. They interviewed everyone on all sides. Probably investigated more than PVL did yesterday I'd say. What do you say to that?
I say they had very good information to reach their outcome at that time.
I find it hard tj believe they would have more information than what PVL has in regards to this current situation ?
I could be wrong, but that’s how I’m seeing it right now.

Mate, it simply isn't good enough after the findings of the review.

I respect the tone on your message.

Those that oppose HBG don’t trust them. They could flick Benji and pay him out in 6 months.
Based on PVL’s statement they will be walking on eggshells and if they make any future decisions that bring Wests Tigers into any more disrepute, they will highly likely be stripped of the licence.

Leo was appointed by HBG or elected?

Is he 'actually' HBG? Or considered 'independent'?

The NRL doesn't appear too concerned about sticking to the review at this point.

Just trying to understand what the compromise is- because on face value, the NRL seems to have just given HBG control.

I refuse to believe the NRL are stupid.

So this has to come from something. Either they didn't agree with the review, they have organised a compromise that works well enough to entice Barry O'Farrell to come back etc, or HBG put an argument forward that the NRL agreed with.

So they are coming back...

But HBG get 5 directors (kinda. but yes). with 3 independents + one Balmain...

Did PVL basically just give HBG more WT board to placate them...

Plus the whole Benji thing. Yes I want him to coach us 2026.
But I want us to push to the top 8. if we come 9/10th ok were progressing.
We instead have Benji signed till 2029!

No, that's not good. Sure better then loosing Benji, but that's just not good at all. If Benji is a dud it means we do huge payouts to cut him in 2028. ...

Benji should be under pressure end of 2026. We now have a worse board and a poorer position with the coach. Hopefully we do well on the field...

They just don't have the ability to make the decisions and set the direction for the future of the club.
Isn’t that the reason PVL has insisted BOF and the other independent board members be reinstated ?
I can’t imagine PVL would play a major part in getting them reinstated to then not have any say ?

We are looking at action around that game if needed.
Imo this is really piss poor by the N.R.L. They basically called out HBG and basically said they were attempting a power grab. The N.R.L told HBG to reinstate all the directors or the N.R.L would appoint an administrator. H.B.G backed down and reinstated all the dismissed board members. If HBG did nothing wrong why would the N.R.L threaten to take over. Also if HBG were all good, Why would they back down so quickly. Basically the N.R.L have crippled the club. Without Viola HBG have 1 more seat on the board than the independants meaning they now have control. The bigger issue I have is the N.R.L not demanding the 2 HBG board members who are on the Wests Tigers board and central to this whole debacle be replaced. We are back to the same boardroom we virtually had in 2019. This was just a lazy fix by Vlandys after 25 years of crap he had the perfect excuse to get it sorted and he left the club 5 years in the past. We now have a HBG boardroom consisting of people who tried to blow the joint up and 3 independants who are now hamstrung in trying to make any real positive change. How are the HBG directors going to work with the independants now they knifed them only to be forced to bring them back. Wonder if there might be any cliques forming in the boardroom now. Like HBG then everyone else. What was Vlandys thinking. Only way to fix it is bring in another independant to replace Viola if he doesn't come back to keep HBG at bay. Of all the things Vlandys could have done, this was not it imo.

That is some comfort from today. But I agree with earlier sentiments and as a big Richo fan, it’s not enough for me.
