HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

I think the hate towards our club owners and officials damages Wests Tigers brand as a whole, and more evidence-based opinions are needed within the forum. Members keep quoting their hate towards Western Suburbs supporters and officials they deem connected. I have a military background and cannot see any value in bitching and moaning about leaders. You have to stay together if you want to win the battle.
No amount of "staying together" is going to help Mexico beat the USA in a war.

At some point competent leaders are required.

Every time somebody brings up fact based arguments against our owners, HBG supporters just totally abandon the argument.

They haven’t delivered sustained success in their history as owners. Whether that’s financial or incompetence or both I don’t know but it’s a fact.

BTW I have changed my user name today because it had Balmain roots and I’ve had it up to here with this crap. We are WESTS TIGERS and we have been since the Sydney Olympics.

It’s high time everyone focuses on winning.

They blame Balmain for the division, even though they've owned a majority of the club for a decade.

It’s apart of our name. And it’s a good example of why they believe they have no identity in the JV if they are corrected anytime they refer to us as such. If you have an issue with someone calling us by one of our names, who’s the dinosaur?
Another irrelevant side issue in all this to distract.

Fans are tired of the incompetence plain and simple and want people to be accountable.

The one's that don't support the dissolution of the debenture system seem to know that these guys would get the arse after the first vote. Mind boggling that based on some weird allegiances they're happy to watch the club burn as long as they have the Magpie men in charge.

I bet there's far more capable Magpie men out there that would do a better job but they can't express a vision to the fans and we can't vote them in because of the debenture system.

These guys have held us back for over a decade. Get them out!

I agree with you in principle.

Putting your military hat on though, i'm sure you can appreciate how hard it would be to go into battle if you knew your sergeant or the bloke standing next to you was a traitor and working against the mission of the team. That's the problem here. It starts from the top (hbg).

There's no world in which anyone can defend the actions of HBG now they've had to reinstate the directors, taken the statement down and had a decade of dysfunction. We even have an active lawyer on the public record stating that certain directors want to bring back the magpies. Yet "fellow supporters" leap to their defence... You can't blame the "true joint venture supporters" for considering those leaping to their defence as traitors and part of the problem..
I appreciate your views, mate, but I am a team-first person. As for the word traitor, this implies treason, probably not a word I would use in this matter.
As for going into battle, there is a line of command in the infantry and I never questioned my platoon commander's directions within a contact; you are a team, all focusing on the one thing. Right or wrong to do otherwise would be defined as a traitor.

A magpies aligned HBG director today said rheyd been at war for the last 25 years

I actually suggested the opposite mate.

Suppose there is something to make HBG comfortable enough to step away to arm's length, such as enshrining the magpies as our primary state cup team, or the colour of our jersey. Then do it. It's dumb from a commercial and unity sense, but it's even worse to have this HBG debenture structure.

That's the things that someone like @BZN cares about. The Balmain folk wouldn't care if the state cup team is lost, but it seems to matter to people like HBG and some supporters.

There needs to be something to make HBG debenture holders open up for members voting. They're clinging on to this because they think it's the way to protect the magpies - By locking those things in, and a lifetime supply of blazers, maybe it's the way we can move on to greener pastures.

Maybe give them all peace trophies like FIFA gave to the US President? Play to their insecurities and ego.
You suggested the same should be in the constitution of WT - it was in the original constitution that both foundation clubs would have their own seperate identity in the competition below NRL. No one was jumping up and down when Balmain was fielding a side in reserve grade. We reverted to Wests Tigers for one season in 2013 as i suspect Balmain were unable to field a side but reverted back to Wests Magpies in 2014 as Balmain were no longer financial.

And before anyone starts going off i am just pointing out the history of the decision.

Melbourne choose not to have a team called Melbourne Storm in NSW Cup.

I have asked twice now and been met with silence.

When they cite 90% HBG ownership, and say they have a "right" to do whatever they want, I ask does the government own anything even though they are on the title?

We talk a lot about their "rights" but what about their responsibilities? Who do they serve and if the people they serve are not happy, what recourse do they have?

HBG has no "beneficial owners". If they sold everything today, not one debenture holder would receive one cent. These people aren't owners, they are a power clique.
