HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

And this is coming from a bloke who wasn't a "crusty old Magpie", but a Balmain fan.
I wonder why HE can see it, yet very few others can.
Good on you Chad ( said in my best Lawrence Mooney/Malcolm Turnbull voice ).
Further, the season is about to start. Whatever the reasoning behind HBG's actions . . . that was a few months ago. And apart from on here, the rumblings have died down.
It's time to let go, put on an optimistic face, and hope that this season will be better, just like we've done for the past 25 years, facing one F up after another, crap signing A followed by crap signing B.
There's been a million reasons for our failings. This is just the latest.
It's done. Was it a great outcome for us . . . probably not. Did it kill us . . . probably not. Did it cost us a premiership . . . probably not.
You can turn yourselves inside out blaming HBG for everything that's wrong with our club, that's a very narrow take on it, but like them or not, they have done WAY more good for our club than bad.
Christ . .. some of you wanted Elias back in a position of authority !!!!
Are HBG perfect ? no. Whoever here is perfect, please pm me as I'd like to know your secret.
Build a bridge. Deep breath, think positive. And let's all hope for a better season on field, and off.
Geez man. Do you give up when there are still problems? This is why we don't win anything. We're happy when there are still structural issues and dealing with mediocrity.

The people still fighting want the best leaders in the organisation so we can win. Unfortunately, I've got very little power to change it, but I'm certainly not going to roll over. Nor should any of us.

HBG leadership could repair this in multiple ways, but they are still hiding in the shadows.

Who on here called for Elias, that was a HBG plan.

It just highlights why HBG are out ot touch with reality and yet a few people still defend them.
From sacking some very good directors then orchestrating Richo leaving, next the rumblings of Brad Arthur to be the new coach to giving Benji a ridiculous extension, next topped off by wanting to let Benny back in how can anyone consider them competent to run our club.

Just fumbling from one clown act to another, it just doesn't happen at other clubs to this extent, how can anyone defend these unprofessional actions.

Sorry...who exactly pushed for Elias to be in authority?

The only ones that pushed that idea were HBG. No one here wanted that.

Using the same logic, if the nrl see someone ruining the brand that they own, they can also do as they please.. thats our saving grace
So if what you say is right and the NRL own the Wests Tigers brand name then they must also own the brand name of every other club. Or did they decide they only wanted to own the WT brand.

I don't keep a dossier on this crap, but I saw it suggested on here. I can't say for sure where it originated from.
But that minor point is very small in the overall essence of my post, I'm surprised that you narrowed it down to that. Seems you're not alone.
Ok then, I could well have been wrong about who wanted Elias back on board. ICBF to trawl through the pages to confirm either way. It really is a secondary issue.
Now, how's about we let this whole HBG thing die a natural death. It's been a while and everything looks to have settled down. Except for this place.
Let's look ahead, and if and when HBG do other dumb things, we discuss it then ?
We've got a trial on Saturday that has a lot of our juniors playing, and I'm looking forward to the season finally starting.

Mate everyone is talking football outside of this thread but within this one which is dedicated to this topic we choose to show our displeasure of recent events and won't stop at least until we see the result of the W.A. EGM.

If you don't like it stay out of here and leave us to have a whinge about them for as long as we want, we're not over it yet.

Edit: I don't think all the Wests Tigers pods are done with the topic either.

Mate...people want the review recommendations to be followed as HBG promised. It's as simple as that. A majority independent board was part of that promise.

This is what I found:

The NRL centrally manages and "owns" the overarching licensing program for merchandise. While clubs own their specific logos, the right to produce "Official NRL" gear is controlled by the league, and the revenue is distributed back to the clubs.

So its still not crystal clear to me exactly how it works, its just what has been explained to me previously

Just because it isnt currently playing out in the media doesn't mean people aren't discussing it.

I am quite confident you will see further headlines about them between now and the end of march.

Fair enough - i think they own all the licencing agreements to every club but not the actual brands or logos.

Yeah, except it looks like they can't sell merchandise with the logos attached unless its nrl approved.. so its not true ownership or they could do as they please.. bit convoluted.

Maybe it's a good thing that they have gone quiet because whenever they do come out with something you can guarantee that it will be absolute SH1T. 💩

Outstanding. That's a very well thought out and intelligent take on things.
And, by the way, the continual year 3 playground snipes at HBG for any and every wildly unrelated happening, are discussed in many threads here, not just this one.

Now pascoe and Lee are gone they are getting closer to the source and found something else to protest about for now 👍

Pro Tip next protest aim initials are PV

Im over this.

HBG bungled December and the result was that we lost the best CEO in our history.

Richo was a force of nature.

Unfortunately the owners are not as committed to the NRL team as the owners of other teams such as the Roosters, Dogs, rabbits etc.

Lets just move forward with what we got.

The ARLC owns the licence, amongst other things.
More specifically and most importantly, the licence to participate in the NRL.

Every team must be granted that licence and every team must adhere to the rules.

Clubs don't have any right to participate unless offered by the ARLC. Licence terms are not perpetual and come up for renewal.

Clubs are worthless to a buyer if they cannot participate in the NRL.

If a club gets booted and wants to hold onto their logo IP, you can kiss about 99% of your merchandise sales goodbye 👋.

The smarter thing to do is negotiate a buy out of the assets and allow the club to continue on with a new owner, while you get to cash out on your asset and sail off into the sunset.
