HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

manly did it 3 years in
Illawarra got swallowed up from the start

If HBG had done that in 2012 half the supporter base would have been obliterated.
Even worse if they tried it now 26 years on.
The HBG haters are confusing me (probably not overly hard to do).

On the one hand, HBG should receive no credit for maintaining Balmain and its heritage because it would have made no business sense to do otherwise (your argument above) - yet at the same time, the conspiracy nuts on here will tell you, that HBG are purposely running the Wests Tigers into the ground in readiness to re-establishing the Magpies after 2030 (which makes no business sense) 🤪

HBG would have been very keen to revert back to magpies in 2030, idiots running the asylum now, fact in point sacking the independent board and Richo.
Hopefully PVL has said in very clear terms it is wests tigers or nothing to hbg

You know my thoughts, however shifting slightly.

More than tactics or results at this stage, but is it fair to say, Benji is a main player in turning the club around and his biggest impact may be cultural above all else?

It is still early, and sustained success will ultimately define his tenure, but in terms of restoring connection, standards, and belief within the playing group, he appears to be playing a central role in the cultural rebuild the club has needed.
Yeah I can't disagree with this. I attended the coaches night last week and benji was so impressive.

Probably wrong thread to ask but did the coaches share anything new at that session @cochise ? Or just answer in your next Claws Out if that's the plan.
They went so in depth into a lot of things. I was lucky enough to chat to Benji pretty much one on one for about 30 mins.

The highlight for me was probably the drone videos from training, especially ones that included AD and Jerome micd up so you could hear their communication in defence.

Luai has a great ability to identify attacking structures before the opposition has even played the ball.

It was a very technical session on how we want to play our football.

The coaches are trying to implement high standards and accountability.

Thanks for the insight Garry.

Did you get a sense that how we played on Saturday was following what the coaches outlined in this session - smaller middles at times, hit to hurt in defence, forwards passing 2 or 3 wide etc?

100% aim is to play expansive football as soon as the opportunity arises.

Defensively we are working hard on stating cohesive and winning the collision.

Interesting info not related to style of play. Bunty called Benji out of blue and said I read your book and you said that you called Wayne Bennett when you had no where to go and asked for an opportunity and he gave you one. Well im calling you.

That's why he is on development as thats all we had for him. Started at 130kg, down to 113

Music to my ears these tid bits of insight. Thanks @cochise.

Benji has a book?

Thanks mate,

Good info.

With the privately owned clubs, there is a lot at stake. Owners benefit from the Club doing good so they are more likely to invest.

NFP Is interesting, is these teams have had their struggles like us.

Are we in the community driven bracket?

I Wonder who benefits from us doing well. In the model we have, I can't see anyone benefitting if we do well.
We are leagues club owned, however its the debenture holder system that throws a bit of a spanner in the works and means that we look more like a privately owned enterprise. The 20 debenture holders control Holman Barnes Group, who in turn control the Wests Tigers....most leagues clubs are controlled by the paying members, who elect a board.

I like you Garry, but I would have cut you off at 10 minutes. For your sanity, not mine. Benji is a Saint.

I see that apparently all the team went up for the trial game.

Were the HBG board up there overseeing the victory, couldn't hear the Magpies chant go up.

Onward then 2 steps backward.
All the team went ?
So not only is HBG to be congratulated for instilling the unity in our club that brought about that lovely win . . . but after the Jackson Hastings paying his own way to a game debacle, they are hosting the whole team at the game.
No backward steps here mate, it's 2 steps forward then 2 more forward.
