HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

100% aim is to play expansive football as soon as the opportunity arises.

Defensively we are working hard on stating cohesive and winning the collision.

Interesting info not related to style of play. Bunty called Benji out of blue and said I read your book and you said that you called Wayne Bennett when you had no where to go and asked for an opportunity and he gave you one. Well im calling you.

That's why he is on development as thats all we had for him. Started at 130kg, down to 113
Great insight mate thanks for sharing it

manly did it 3 years in
Illawarra got swallowed up from the start

If HBG had done that in 2012 half the supporter base would have been obliterated.
Even worse if they tried it now 26 years on.
Apparently not.

It's all Wests Tigers now- not Wests & Balmain.

Balmain fans would have smiled at the new revolution.

Yes they could have. Could have invested solely in the Wests brand. Put all the finances into Wests juniors.

Didn't.

Could have
Why you are rehashing this?

Are we supposed to be grateful that they decided to continue to invest in the junior base of the WESTS TIGERS?

Are we supposed to be happy they didn't give away a junior nursery to another nrl club?

CLAP CLAP. CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING A GOOD DECISION... WE WILL THANK THEM FOREVER AND EVER.

Out of curiousity how much do they currently invest into wests juniors? I was of the understanding that Wests McArthur ran independent to HBG and funded the juniors themselves.

Because I was responding to questions direct to a quote of mine.

Why aren't you highlighting the people that asked first?

Its been wests tigers since 2000. I dont understand why you and others continue to push this balmain narrative like of us truly care about them. 90% of us are grateful they are out of the picture.
According to the person I was responding to, half the supporters would have disappeared in 2012, more in 2026.

I'm not the one disagreeing with your statement. Highlight someone else for suggesting it.

You posted that they could bave made the decision to give up the balmain junior catchment, which would be to the detriment of the wests tigers football club. This keeps being banded about here like we should be in awe of such a decision. You also said they could have invested in the wests brand only.. which isnt true, because its the wests tigers... Thats why I replied to you.

How much do they currently invest into wests juniors? And what's the scope of that investment?

They were all there Hank.

The Wests chant resonated with real gusto across the Hunter, and the boys reacted accordingly, bringing home the win.

#BeingPositiveWorks
Positive ? More like condescending and obnoxious. You’re literally the only person I’ve seen draw a conclusion that the team on field performance has anyway at all had anything to do with HBG.
Theres no need for this passive aggressive shite . Are you bored ? Makes you look like a massive loser to be honest .

The juniors funding was part of the deal as was the 10% and board representation.

Balmain, while broke, had 50% of WT. They could have sold it to anyone...they chose to sell it to HBG in exchange for the above concessions.

It would have been what happened to Wimbledon Fc in the Premier league / championship .
They split got dropped multiple levels , the owners basically picked up the remaining pieces and called it MK Dons, the ones who left created Wimbledon and they are now in I believe league 1 so third division . Same as MK dons or maybe league 2 .
The equivalent to be would have been Wests change the name to magpies more than half the club bails on it , because 50% Balmain plus a larger percentage of youth who don’t know or align with traditional owners , the club implodes after 3-5 years . Balmain drops back to NSW cup / Ron Massey .
And probably aligns itself with one of the new franchises , probably the NZ one , there’s a big hoo haa about bringing back the traditional clubs like the bears , and the tigers play out of Christchurch come 2030, or probably would have been sooner . Maybe the easts tigers win the second qld team with a Balmain alliance .
If the magpies did remain in the nrl it would be a shell of itself. It would be curious who claims the 2005 premiership . Probably the magpies I guess , but there would be an asterisk. I doubt most would talk about it , much like manly don’t really talk about the northern eagles phase .
I think the above re. Balmain aligning with a non Sydney expansion team and wests retaining the license or being forced to move to Perth if the crowds and supporter base abandons the club , would be the most likely scenario .
No COE, by the way . There’s no way Campbelltown council fund that like the nsw gov and Canada Bay did .
That’s just facts.

They would though . You would alienate anyone who was a supporter that aligned itself to the tiger brand . That could be a Balmain traditionalist , but most likely a large portion of the fanbase who simply don’t want to support the magpies . The same loyalty that guys are getting upset about re. To the magpie , is exactly how people feel towards the tiger . And vice versa . To simply think that a name change wouldn’t implode the club is just nonsensical .
There’s a reason the wests old boys feel like they’ve lost their club even though the main name is Wests .
I’ve said this before but it’s the same as old school Bloods fans singing out “Carn the bloods “ Everytime the swans make the afl grand final . The resonation is rarely to the suburb . It’s nearly always to the emblem/ mascot.

What they could have done or should have done is irrelevant compared to what they have done. It's an unfortunate set of circumstances for all involved, considering all parties involved entered the relationship with the best of intentions, but I do think that the very thing which steers a footy team to victory, tribalism, is what worked towards it's failure.
