HBG, Independent Directors Sacked

Supporter pressure brought about the review.

HBG took over 12 months to implement the key recommendation, the appointment of independent directors which only happened after further action from supporters.

HBG then started to act to undermine the full implementation of the recommendations including by removing Romero.

HBG refused to implement the final 2 recommendations.

Less than 12 months after their appointment the independent directors were removed.

HBG had to be pressured into the review and implementation of the recommendations ob multiple occasions and have spent the last 2 years undermining the process.
Ok, but to clarify- fans wanted the boss's to change.

The repercussions of not taking on those changes would have been.... fans not liking HBG?

What happens if they just went "nup" at the beginning?

Didn’t have the players respect . To be honest neither does Madge or did he . Players are afraid of him … until they aren’t. He will be sacked this year or next . Seems like a great guy too … but much like a missus constant yelling, eventually just means guys find that frequency and noise cancel it .
It’s why I think Benji will be the wests tigers Ricky Stuart .
Great comparison.

Ricky gets a buy-in. That's why he succeeds with somewhat lesser players.

I'm very comfortable with Benji in charge.

Then we would have board headlined by the Fedora , spewing shit about fiduciary responsibility bal bla on SEN , a nuffie CeO like Pascoe , and most probably be looking for anew head coach as the original deflection hire for browny points would have lost its shine and benji would have been sacked . And round and round the circus goes

Ok- that's all possible.

But HBG didn't actually HAVE to make any changes- they chose to, to appease the fan base?

The people that did make that decision, are no longer on the HBG board . And those who didn’t want do it , are . Take that for what it is.
after the implementation of the reviews findings, it’s been a couple years of skullduggery and backstabbing to ultimately come to where we are now.
So whilst you’re right in theory re. HBG made the decision ultimately why would they reneg, it doesn’t account for the actual humans who made those decisions all almost to a man are gone , and the one remaining are the ones who were caught yelling wests at a wests tigers game when the fans were yelling tigers , and a whole bunch of only fans friends …
So yea unfortunately it’s a case of 1 plus 1 equals 2 .
I actually don’t see this rearing its head again until 2030. That’s when I can see people try some shit on . And ultimately if you’re a wests tigers fan that’s th ultimate fear .
Which by the way the people on the board making those decisions will be close to 80, and well over 70. if not older …
Seriously ….

HBG is Wests Ashfield. I do t know why anyone argues with that. Because they also invite Danny Stapleton to be a figurehead?

HBG have done nothing to enhance the success of Wests tigers, Balmain tigers or even Wests Magpies. Football appears to be a massive burden for them. They don't want to invest money, they're afraid of intelligent, competent qualified people running things for them.

All they aspire to is failure and more pokies at Ashfield.

Only once HBG have nothing to do with WT can we finally move forwards as a club. Wests Ashfield just hates Wests Tigers too much, for us to have any success would be miraculously given the obstacles we need to overcome.

HBG were not even happy with the coe, they didn't want it at Concord and actively campaigned against it in its current form.

If anyone can list anything that HBG which has benefited Wests Tigers I'm all ears.

I’m gonna disagree on one point . I think they love a wests tigers that’s beholden to them . It mean they can always get thier cucumbers sandwiches , can always feel important at home games , and ultimately as long as the club is sustainable , then that’s the nice little place that fits perfectly for them .
Like you said, a smart ambitious well run wests tigers ultimately leads to people questioning these people and threatening their position .
I genuinely have always felt it’s about this a nothing else . The wests -Balmain bullshit is a smokescreen used to keep the clubs biggest shareholders -the members , fighting amongst themselves and not pointing the finger directly where it should have been pointed as way back as 2012 , probably sooner .
The nrl getting involved and applying pressure , has also proved the toothlessness of these people . They simply care too much about thier cucumber sandwiches and photo ops , to die on the hills they seem to be constantly starting skirmishes .

Yes you are correct there. HBG love nothing more than to parade around at a home game, acting like the top dog. Though I'll disagree on their preference: it's all about them getting their free party pies, chicko rolls, hot chips and VB...

You can’t ask for achievements during the HBG controlled Board era and then dismiss the Centre for Excellence because some Board members did this or that. It’s a team game. The Board achieved it!

And if you want to dismiss development that’s fine, but you then must dismiss the weakness of squads which delivered three spoons. If Makasini isn’t an achievement, or signing the Fainu’s isn’t an achievement (thanks Scott Fulton), then offering contracts to Chris McQueen, or John Bateman or Tyrone Peachey can’t be listed as HBG failures.

You can’t have your cake and eat it too 🤷‍♂️
It is widely known the Centre of Excellence was Pascoes crusade and O'Farrell jumped in to lobby government. Go was around too.

I even think Rick Wade and Andeacchio were there? I think Balmain had 25% too.

Anyway...you can credit HBG with the centre of excellence if it makes you feel better. Just seems like a lot of credit going to them for other people's hard work....can't imagine you would have been a pleasant bloke to work with if you take that stance.

The wider point being is Chad thought he had a slam dunk, but most of his points just ended up backing up my own and the rest are debatable at least. He never checks any facts.
