Heamasi Makasini

Agree. If he's fit he's a weapon. He scored a double on the weekend just barging over TNT style.
He's also had his knee issues so it may be that the opportunity for Makasini comes naturally.

Charlie Staines is certainly expendable. I don't mind him as a backup and I respect that he usually tries hard and is usually low on errors, but you will put better footballers there if available.

It all hinges on how quickly Bula returns.

I do get a chuckle about all this.
Wests fans are so desperate for a win-fix they’ll tip the crèche out in search of a new messiah.
Compare it to a club like Melbourne and how slowly they brought young tyro Jack Howarth through their system. When he finally hit the NRL he was already performing like a seasoned pro.
I’d leave Makasini in NSW Cup for the remainder of the season.
Or you can compare it to a club like Penrith who gave Casey McLean his debut last year when he was still only 18 and after only 7 games in NSW cup

How long before somebody calls for him to move into the back row? You know it’s coming. If he debuts this year, it will be of season at the latest.

Funnily enough both Heamasi & Casey are Newington boys.
When McLean debuted he was one year out of school - Makasini is lining up for Newington tomorrow at Stanmore against Joeys. So next year your comparison becomes more apt 👍

Please do not rush this kid, let him develop properly and gain the right experiences before you rush him. As stated, before in this thread we have the makings of a very good Flegg side next season, let him have a first grade pre season under his belt and then 5 games in flegg then bring him through.

I actually think he’s been more dominant in NsW cup than he was in SG Ball earlier in the season. Shows how exponential his growth is
May was dominate in the recent Cup Game-----3 tries.
I know the argument, both LHS centres, but Makasini played RHS.
However Makasini did not stand out IMO. Was OK, but not outstanding. Still learning while at school.
Not the time to rush him into NRL side yet. Let him settle in KOE for the time being and his form screams out.........I'm ready!

Benji hasn't been one to wait long before blooding players who he thinks are ready for NRL. Galvin, Tiny, he was right with both.
