The Australian car industry died the day Peter Brock came up with the polariser. Can't believe that people thought a crystal and some magnets dipped in resin and put in a box actually make their car perform better...

It "aligned the molecules" of the car which improved fuel efficiency which I think was his claim.
Could drive, but was an absolute nutcase.

A business closes the doors because it fails to turn a profit after being propped up by taxpayers.
The business slams the door and blames its customers for the failure.
A significant number of those customers believe they are to blame?
I’m missing the kicker here?!
Yeah ... Holden fans don’t drive Holden's !

Actually this is not about Holden or Ford, its about production in Australia. Every country that produces cars receives subsidy from their respective governments. There is a reason for this - in years gone by should war arise manufacturing companies would join the effort and build machines of war, also the motor manufacturing industry is also great for innovation from a technology and production point.
Ford were worse than GM, Ford would not allow Aussie made cars to be sold outside of Australia. Ford USA believed that the best car Ford made world wide was the Territory however, they would not allow it to be sold in america because out wasn't designed in America or anywhere else for that matter. GM on the other hand had no objection and intact the VE was a doing well exporting cars around the world including the middle east and the USA.
Fords (6th by brand) sales numbers were actually worse than Holden's (4th) in 2017 and if it wasn't for the Ranger, Ford's numbers would have been worse, so it wasn't just Holden people not buying Holden's it was actually Australians not buying Australian made vehicles. For the record in 2017 Toyota were No 1, followed by Mazda (2nd) and Hyundai (3rd), even mitsubishi moved more vehicles than Ford 20174.

That ... plus there was an interview with ISIS a few years back and they were showing how the hilux’s tailgate width is the perfect size !
