It's safe to say that both L.O and CSS won't get upgraded. Nostalgia only takes you so far.
Darcy Bryne hinted that time is running out for L.O as it falls into further disrepair.

I think it's beyond an upgrade. It will be demolished and turned into parkland.
That area is full of basket weaving whining greenies now.
All these action groups have killed the League's club and are against L.O getting upgraded.

Peter V'landys: ARLC new commissioner a game changer for the NRL | Daily Telegraph
8 days ago · Rugby league’s new independent commission chairman Peter V’landys has three major goals — to save Sydney’s struggling NRL clubs, improve suburban grounds and revitalise bush footy. While the Racing NSW supremo can appreciate the need to play grand finals, Origin and Anzac Day ... ..... Seems like the new commissioner sees the value in maintaining and utilizing suburban Sydney grounds.

Problem is he wont be paying the money on improving or maintaining them.

Nothing wrong with the ground @gallagher it's a picture. You know what you are going to get when you get there - no surprises. It has a place even if it is in a minor capacity.Could definitely do with some new toilets.
If anything the new stadiums date quicker than Leichardt, and look at the money it takes to rebuild them!

Not a fan of one home ground? Leichhardt is a great venue for about 12k, anymore than that turns me away.

Leichhardt and Campbelltown 1 heritage game each, the rest at one of the stadiums. It is not a Magpies v Balmain argument like @MAGPIES1963 tries to turn it into, it is about what is best for the future of the Wests Tigers and that is neither CSS or LO.

I don't see the one home ground as the be all and end all, like some do. I like who we are. I understand why we play at CSS and Leichardt, as well as the necessity to host games at larger stadiums for corporate and financial reasons. I don't think it is the reason for our lack of on field success and I don't think playing out of one home ground will bring us success. Just my opinion.

Gosford.

Going to keep on saying it. Just need to work out how it works for Wests

Personally I wouldn't like that!

If we are talking personally i wouldnt either but this is about what is best for the club.

Its hard to remove our favoritism and allegiances but if we became a strong and successful club most people would be won over.

Not to mention the huge amount of local support you would get if the team embraced the Gosford area.

We average 18 k at Homebush. Gosford holds 20k so were moving for 2k crowds?

Honestly i think its about more than just crowd averages.

Ive seen enough to know if we keep doing what we are doing where we are doing it we will end up in some god forsaken place like Perth. The NRL do not like us and will sharpen their knives very soon.

Whats more the corporate opportunities that come with identifying with a new region would be hard to overlook.

The only other option i feel is suitable is 4 games at Campbelltown and 8 at Gosford but then you risk alienating the massive Gosford market by not being all in ie the Northern Eagles

The question you should be asking yourself is Gosford or Perth!
As i said earlier its not about what we want.

I think the corporate opportunities lie in Sydney where the major national/international companies are and where the best stadiums are. Newy and Illawarra always struggled with corporate support, its only a leagues club group that has saved Newy.

@The_Patriot win more games

Should have added, build coe, get the west’s tigers leagues club built at Balmain and stay liquid.

Something that just about every other club in every other code in every country does. Play out of one stadium in Sydney building corporate support and fan base. We've never tried that.

Mate I’m an advocate for free opinions but I’ve got to say I’m getting sick of reading your Magpies crap. Get over it mate. Stop being so divisive in you relentless posts. Nothing to be gained from it imo. Mate post what you like I suppose - I’ll just delete you from my list

Campbelltown has never really had a successful team to follow - Magpies more often than not we’re strugglers when based in the Macarthur region. That means, by nature, smaller crowds. Look at Penrith crowd numbers when they’ve been struggling, compared to when they were a top 4 club last year. People love a winning team, particularly the less than rusted on fans. Also, in the 20 years since the merger the Macarthur population would have grown significantly - that means even more people to draw on.

@helmesy yep winning games will save us, look at what happens when we are chance of making the finals, we sell out and attract the crowds. we come good and the talk about relocating us disappears quickly.

This is true.

But the options are not that great.

Bankwest, the players play like puss and show no heart.

Leichhardt not the future.

Campbelltown a massive risk to lose lose it all within 5 years. It may work but the risk is incredibly high.

Only leaves a place like Homebush and playing out of state teams there instead of at our spiritual home grounds will see us relocated within 3 years.

It aint a pretty picture this one you are painting.

The only reasom we are number 1 for relocation (number 3 in my opinion) is because of the management of the club. Moving an hour up the road wont fix anything.

Bankwest, we play like puss there because we ARE puss. Blaming a venue for performance is nuts.
ANZ, So souths and the dogs are getting re-located? Doubt it.

I agree on the other 2 venues.

Each to their own opinion but i blame the players for the Bankwest debacle of this season. They didnt buy into it because they are soft. The squad is soft.

Sorry you cant see we are number 1 team to be relocated. Just is what it is.

It was you that ruled out bankwest because we played like puss there, not me.

The only reasom we are number 1 for relocation (number 3 in my opinion) is because of the management of the club. Moving an hour up the road wont fix anything.

You would only move an hour up the road with a 10 to 20 year agreement from the league. It would have to come with conditions that we are safe.

So whats your plan moving forward. What do we do to keep from being relocated?

Juniors is the big thing about the region and that is why the chooks have their claws into the area. The area is overwhelmingly Anglo, which makes a huge difference to player numbers per capita when compared to Sydney junior areas, where if you take the Polynesian players out, there would be few teams.

It works, as I have been here nearly three years and their supporter base is definitely growing, particularly so on the back of coaching clinics and school visits

Something that just about every other club in every other code in every country does. Play out of one stadium in Sydney building corporate support and fan base. We've never tried that.

This is true.

But the options are not that great.

You have great confidence of it working when you need a safeguard of 10 years.

Don't think the club has any plans to relocate anywhere and not sure why it is being discussed because it has been generally accepted that moving a Sydney club won't work.
