Hooker stocks remaining year and next.

Ive heard a whisper that we might bring the young hooker down early this year and put him on our rookie list which would make him eligible for first grade next week. If not him someone else from our squad who is eligible through a rookie contract

I think we need to look at the number 9s with little other options. Korisau is too expensive, but maybe Lichaa on a 1 year deal. I’m not a fan of his but for 1 year until Liddle has recovered and Simpkin is potentially ready it might work.

I really hope we don’t sign another hooker for more than a year. That money can be spent elsewhere in 2021.

Find ourselves in another predicament by committing to Liddle - frustrating for club and player. But we can't go into next season without strengthening that position.

Jacob would have really benefited from a big preseason, particularly to build and strengthen his upper body following the shoulder reconstructions. This is looking unlikely now, and a huge setback for him and the Tigers going into next season. I’m a supporter of Jacob and still believe he’s worth investing in, but this will force the club into a rethink on the hooking position for next season. An option from within the roster is to shift Mbye there next season. Recruitment wise Issac Luke played hooker for Madge during Souths premiership season, their previous working relationship might bring about a reunion, he’s also likely to be within our clubs price range. There’s some other options worth considering that have already been mentioned; Walters, Katoa, Brittain to name a few.

We just lack. We have been pretty lucky with injuries this year until now and just exposes how thin we are in depth and quality.

2019 Off Contract: Hooker

Kurt Baptiste, Billy Brittain, Sione Katoa, Michael Lichaa, Issac Luke, Matt McIlwrick, James Segeyaro, Zac Woolford

Out of that lot I’d take Seyeyaro.

Harvey hit the nail on the head. Would be a great look for the club. Plus, look at the precedent it would set. Anytime a player gets injured, the club can look into tearing up his contract. It would be chaos. They won’t look into getting out of the contract, because a) it’s not the right thing to do, and b) they wouldn’t have a leg to stand on.

According to Zerotackle

Our hooker stocks should have been looked at seriously last year. The stop gap solution hasnt progressed the team at all.

It also bums me out that Robson is out injured too. He could get a callup on an emergency basis otherwise and we could see how he goes over the next few weeks.
Same with the injury to Madden, would have been nice to see how he copes in a game in the top league this season if Brooks get suspended.

I was so excited to see liddle getbhis chance looking towards the future...then bam he cops another blow poor guy....I’ve been depressed ever since he left the field can’t imagine how he feels....hope he recovers fast and well ready for the new yr furore star he is imo....we were always going to need another hooker for depth anyways...someone on the cheap will do issac luke, Britain, Liccha all fitnthis role as they are out of favour and without contracts

Praying that it’s not an ACL, those one just shoot your confidence and that will be another year wasted for him. That’s about 5 seasons gone to waste.
