@galahs said:He had the petition at Campbelltown Stadium when we played North Queensland.
Was telling people it was for a Wests Tigers Leagues Club proposal.
@Yossarian said:@OneEyedMagpie said:They refer to Benny Elias as "the former club great" in the article.
Does this mean he is no longer considered a great of the club?
And what is his involvement with Tony Sage in Perth? I would have thought he would be concentrating his energies on helping the Wests Tigers?
It means he's no longer a player…
Elias is a businessman who would have a number of projects going on at any given time. I doubt that either the Rozelle Development or the Tony Sage/Perth NRL bid would take up a large amount of his time given the first is awaiting state government approval and the second is going nowhere fast.

I guess you dont know too much about the building game then, or just pretend not to know right?
How much do you think it costs when multi mill developments are pushed back because of slow council approval? Do you think you just sit around and say she'll be right and do nothing about them?
Poor belias is getting hammered in the gina morning herald and surely the council can see that, give the little battler a chance and help him out.

@OneEyedMagpie said:Youre right, i dont know anything about the building game.
I guess if i was waiting around for approval of a multi million dollar development Id be keeping myself busy getting involved in building a Truck Stop with Mick Doohan in Toowoomba and heading up a rival NRL franchise to the Wests Tigers in Perth.
Come on guys, Im a Wests Tigers fan too, but cant you see right through this guy?
@Cultured Bogan said:Last time I checked, this country was a free market and if Elias wants to spend his time and money on other projects which he feels might come to fruition then good luck to him. I really don't see what the issue is… If/when it goes ahead, he gets a return on his investment, and BLC lives on. Moreover, what makes him any more sinister than any other businessman in his field?
@Gary Bakerloo said:Secondly, and this is based on Galah's claim, advertising to fans at Campbelltown that it will be a "Wests Tigers" Leagues Club. If that is true, not sure about that. Yes, I understand that indirectly, a strong Balmain Leagues Club assists in providing financial security for Wests Tigers, but calling it Wests Tigers Leagues club does create a form of deception and confusion (ie: fans will ask why is Campbelltown and Ashfield just known as "Wests"?)
@DonnyBrasco said:Yeh, why is everyone picking on poor belias? Hes a selfless altruist with only the clubs best interests at heart.
Now how does one get on the payroll?

@Spartan117 said:Lets not forget that the Stupid NSW Labor Gov had plans and then pulled them for the site and its bungled light rail plan.
Rozelle club was a hole and needed someone to take a risk on it.
This thread is malicious, If all had come to fruition then Benny would have been hailed the clubs savior.

About time a credible journalist from the area accurately reported this, and it got some even coverage in the mainstream media.

This media report was all one sided in favor of the club based on… car park spaces?
There will be 800 new ones and the area needs more parking....
well how many people will be moving in to these apartments? Most apartments will have 2 cars, which will in turn require more carparks, and will mean more traffic. Something the radio journalist and interviewer were already complaining about.
I'd actually like to here a genuine report that accurately states the pros and cons of the actual development.
Not with the emotion regarding the Leagues club.
