Maguire is not the problem it is the players he inherited. The juniors not playing this year has not helped. Need to get rid of overpaid players and say good bye to Lawrence and Marshall season end. I would be blooding players like Madden now with eye on 2021. Give Dylan Smith a go at full back or new signing AJ. Still hurting from Cleary legacy.

He re-signed Benji and Lawrence. In fact he signed or re-signed >70% of the team. Why did he do these signings or re-signings if they’re no good?

15 of the 17 who took the field were signed/re-signed/extended by MaGuire...

Only Nofoaluma and Mbye were not..Nofo had a crack like he always does scored a great TRY and Mbye is the Captain appointed by MaGuire..

Packer was one of the usual not MaGuire's team but everyone wants him in the team now..go figure..

This team is not a top eight team but Maguire has had them playing on occasion where we all fooled ourselves that maybe they might be.
Where has anyone other WTs tragics/hopefuls got them as contenders or even top eight? They try hard but after the battle last week they looked flat. Warriors only just got beat by the Roosters last week it's a tough competition and we are no certainties who ever we play if we are not at our best.

I don’t blame Madge. If the players don’t buy in to what he is doing then see you later I say

One of them did, Ryan Matterson. All of Souths eventually did too.

Where there's smoke?

The cycle of coaches will never end if we offload Madge. The culture of players killing our coach needs to stop. Board needs to back Madge. If players aren’t prepared to be professional they need to move.
Would you have kept Matterson??

Exactly. It’s his team now and even if it wasn’t it’s still his job to get the most of of the players he’s got.

If Madge can't fix us no one can. We can't take much more of this.

When he was giving them the spray at half time they looked like they’d clocked off... not a good sign.

How many sprays can a grown man take ?
I woulda told him to get ......

Yeah It doesn’t seem to motivate the team at all. Has the opposite effect.

Also a little concerned as to why he played Twal and AD tonight. AD has been running on one leg for weeks and Twal just wasn’t ready.

Agree on Doeuihi. I thought Twal did his sternum early in the game though?

What coach would want to come here? When Madge and Ivan took the job they were both asked why they wanted the "poisoned chalice" of coaching Wests Tigers.

We can get rid of Madge, but it will likely mean we go to 12-14th every year instead of 9th. Just like the players, we'll only get a coach that can't get a gig anywhere else. At least Madge is preferred over Mcgregor, Seibold, Pay etc.

Really some of these comments on this thread.

All of South's did? Are you speaking with knowledge of that or assumption. Because people believe and repeat stuff like that.

Madge is the man to lead us forward- his succession planning with see us rise from the ashes once the inherited recalcitrants have milked the remainder of their Cleary contracts.
His motivation in the sheds is commendable - chalk and cheese when you look back to Ivan’s softly, softly approach.
The half time spays that he delivers must be carried onto the field by the Captain with inspiration and leadership- this does not occur.
In the post match press conference it was evident he’s totally humiliated by his very public support for Mbye this season and probably went home and cut his tongue out last night to compensate.
Yes, a good motivational spray in the sheds then nothing carried out onto the field by a Captain that spent the whole night star gazing yet again and reliving his childhood memories .. yes folks, it was ‘Back To The Future’ stuff last night - there was little Moses reminiscing about his favourite TV show Romper Room, sitting at the refreshment table with his glass of milk waiting for Miss Patricia to see him through the magic mirror.... “I can see little Moses”...
Then back to reality the Tigers have a promising backline move, the ball is passed out along the backline, it’s looking promising...
THEN
Another flashback for Moses:
He starts to stargaze again, all of a sudden he’s back in Romper Room:
‘Bend and stretch
Reach for the stars
There goes Jupiter
Here comes Mars
Bend and stretch
Reach for the stars
Stand on tippy toe
Oh so high”

GAME OVER

Those that keep on carrying on about Madge signing 15 of 17 that played last night, still don't get it.

Yes he resigned them, but the crucial point is, the contracts of Reynolds, Mbye and Packer are not his doing, and that is what's stuffing up our roster.

We are where we should be to be brutally honest. The more time we get into Blore, Luciano, McIntyre, Mikalele, Garner, Douhiei the better we will be. Even with four players out the Warriors roster is not much worse then ours.

You can’t play hard and aggressive each week we need more class in the side. We can’t play poor and win against anyone. Good sides can have an off day and get over the line on talent.

He lost to a warriors team who were relying on other teams discarded players to actually field a team.

What happened to the 3 year extension..

Oh I see we are back to not his team...no one would make the 17 at any other Club

He needs the extension more than ever so he can get the players he needs. Our useless board are more likely to take the easy option and sack the coach to save face and make it look like they are not part of the problem

Would the result had been different had not Mbye Reynolds and Packer been in the squad who he didn't sign/re-sign or extend ..I guess is the question then..

Not sure ....just see it as an excuse to fail..

There should be no excuses for anyone last night, and that includes the coach.

I feel maybe they did tell him that @hobbo1, as there was certainly no improvement in their attitude in the 2nd half....maybe even worse imo.

I'd been looking forward to the game all week, then we turn the tele on and get dished up tripe (like my Mother used to cook, yuckypoos) by.... "Tigers".... I don't think so.... more like meek little pussy cats being content to have a snooze after catching their first mouse ie....scoring 2 tries against a depleted Warriors team that had more guts and determination to win the game than we did.
We have a mentally weak team.
The only answer is to feed the whole team with Viagra after each win, so they can keep it UP ( ie a winning attitude.... just for you naughty people out there who may be thinking otherwise) and win their next game.
Go the mighty Viagra Tigers!
An added bonus....Viagra as a new front of shorts sponsor.... in the appropriate place.... with a big bulge underneath from all the players wearing boxes similar to cricket players to protect their newly found and precious swollen pride.
