Not going to agree, not going to argue GNR. I don't like the idea.
Few years ago, I would have agreed, but not at this point in time, thinking about our future, and this isn't a Smith vs Potter choice. To have someone come in to clean the place up is not the task or solution. Our club needs stability up top to succeed .The problem is on the carpet, not the grass. We don't have serial bad boys, we have mafia Dons. So why are we bringing him in to clean what up.
What players can he bring to our club, I'd say his little lay off has made him lose the last of his contacts, where as before he went from one club to another. Having him for two years could also make things go from bad to worse with players leaving because of him, maybe following him or not resigning with us because they don't like the next coach. Then you have Smith signings that the next coach doesn't like but he's stuck with, like what Sheens has done to Potters. No cap space.
But then again it could be a good challenge for the boys to test themselves again and see if he can get Smith punted before his two years are up.
If Potter exits , we need a younger coach, with respect from the league community, someone who has won a title, someone involved as an assistant and possibly coaching at the same time, preferably a former rep half, well spoken and spent most of his career around powerhouse clubs, so he can bring in that culture that he's use to, to our club, Smith can't offer this. That's why i don't agree.
