If we miss the finals, should Tim Sheens walk?

Happy with the coach. Flogging a dead horse mate …... Get a new topic.

sheens is just as much the fabric of wests tigers just like we are here on this forum. He brought us thru to fruition in 05\. He gave us a new way of life. Lets be thankful. Sheens can stay on - its the injuries that have killed us thus far. If we beat Manly next friday night than i dare say that we are premiership contenders in 2011\. 1\. Wayne Bennett, 2\. Craig Bellamy 3\. Tim Sheens. 4\. Anthony Griffen

Hybrid,

Based on most recent acquisitions ie Blair, Ellis, Tuqiri, Utai, it would be logical to suggest that the Coach and the club have a decent record for bringing in quality players that have been beneficial to the club.

In '07 & '08 we were limited in acquiring the right half because there was a lack of halves available in those years and not to forget we were constrained financially because of the cap.

Success is cyclical.

We went through a rebuilding phase. Get over it and enjoy the moment.

Underdog you are spot on, the way some go on it must be Sheens missing the tackles & causing the injuries to our players. Against Saints last year in the final the penalities went against us & we should of got a penalty when Lotti was kneed in the back, not saying we kick the goal but it should of been a penalty. I also dont want to go back to the days of Junior & Lamb coaching us as Sheens has turned us around for the better.

Again, Sheens signed Morris to play halfback and persisted with him there for three years, now apparently he gets excused of that because there was no quality halves available? Please.

No matter what happens, Sheens never seems to cop the flak for anything. Its always injuries, the players, the lack of players available etc. etc.

Now, Sheens of course has done some good things for us, but he has also done some poor things and that should be recognised.

As for this thread, I accept that we are currently rebuilding and I believe Sheens should get the opportunity to oversee that, and he will - he will be here next season regardless of what happens this year.

However, if we are having the same discussion this time next year, what would your thoughts be then? My guess is that like every other year, the excuses for Sheens will come flying thick and fast yet again.

Me - I'm happy for him to get a chance to oversee all the changes he has made, but the excuses for the man bug me to no end.

What he doesnt cop enough flak on here hybrid…..100s of post on here suggest otherwise.

This is just a hypethetical anyway cause i think we will make the 8 in 2011.

Lets see how we go his year before commenting on next.

He doesn't cop enough anywhere, tiger4ever. Not just on here. I was more referring to the media than anything else, but this thread proves too many people are keen to make excuses for him. Just my thoughts.

Morris - I don't know of any exact number, but anything over 1 was too many.

I for one am with Hybrid Tiger.

Our record under him isn't good enough. There have been years you could chalk up to bad luck of course but eventually, year after year of bad luck… the bad luck just eventually has to fall on Sheens. Sorry mate.

Macdougall well of course you agree you started the thread but of course like always you guys didnt get the result you thought you would.lol

Sheens took over a mess and he won us a comp in his 3rd year….something i thought i would never experience.08 and 09 i would consider to be a failure i guess but the rest of the years taking things into consideration we did well.

Look at this year we still in the 8 and last year unlucky not to make the big one AGAIN.

Its ok cause every single person in the media outlets that have played the game say sheens is a great coach.

No offence guys but us nuffies dont know the in and outs of the club and what hes had to work with.I bet storm and the richer clubs like broncos have heaps more staff on board then sheens has.

If we had a fulltime home ground im sure some of those years we run 9th we would have made the finals but what can you do we were far from disgraced like some in the old days should have been use to.

Can somebody tell me who should of been halfback instead of John Morris? You cant tell me the club would not have tried to sign someone else. And could somebody tell me who should be our coach instead of Sheens? Kevin Moore, Daniel Anderson, Nathan Brown, John Lang, Brian Smith???? No thanks. Sheens for me.

if we were at the bottom end of the table this season and the past couple then its a different matter.

i thought long ago that a coaching change was good for us then i see the merry go round going on at the bulldogs and think forget it.

even if u get a so called top coach everyone wants who says its going to work out when they come to your club.

It hasnt worked 75 % of the time for us in the past with sheens either.

I cant wait until Sheens and humpty are long gone

…why? do u think we will be a top 4 side every year as soon as these 2 guys are gone?

I just think the palce is stale, the coaching, the recruitment, the ideas…I dont think Sheens is not a good coach, I just believe he's been here too long, players hear the same old stuff...the same threats etc etc....I believe some of our players would thrive under a new direction
The club is saying we are looking at a new direction, a bigger pack :unamused: but really its just different players with the same coach using the same gameplans that hasnt worked 3 times out of 4 for the past 8 years...

After all clean out. It was Sheens plan to have this clean out, i think if we miss hes got one more yeh

Recruitment stale?

You have to be joking.

Sheens is now doing something about his roster…..he bloody cares about our club and he owes the club nothing.....i wouldnt be suprised in 25 years where all saying wouldnt it be nice to win another comp.

What player has improved after they have left us.....not one in my memory.....he knows what hes doing
