Inglis hopefully out.

oh and people saying good hits
any tackle that results in the player making contact with the head is not a good hit.
if cleared, this sets a TERRIBLE TERRIBLE precedent.

He'll probably get a week or two. Strange how we are looking a bigger chance without Inglis and Luke. When we last played them Inglis and Luke were there, we had no Farah and yet we controlled 75 minutes of the game. 2 competition points that we really could have done with at the moment.

While he wasn't send off, the Dragons still got a penalty and a free replacement. More than the Tigers got when knees were dropped into Lote's back in a semi final in 2010.

It would have been a great hit a few years ago but the NRL are a lot smarter in 2012 and know they face massive legal problems in the future if they dont stamp these hits out. It was a illegal tackle and Inglis should get a hefty suspension its that simple. Of course we all know their are rules for one and rules for other. My guess he will get two weeks max where some other players would probably cop five. He is the leagues hottest player at present so they need him

I Believe he should get at least two weeks. He jumped into it and made contact with the head! If Blairy got a week for his, surely this should get at least 2.
Speaking of Blairy's leg pull- anyone see Cameron Smith's one last night?

It reminded me most of the Ben Teo hit on Groat. Shoulder coming into contact with the head moreso than a swinging arm. If the judiciary want any sort of consistency he'll get two weeks - I dont think it needs 4.

The shoulder charge should therefore be banned from the game .Juniors are penalised when the they do one and it is outlawed so why is it allowed in the showpeice ?

A case of a much taller man against a little shortarrse…..its a rough game boys, Youngs fine....medicab and the dragons taking their time to take him off made it all look worse

Are you kidding???? You are blaming the Saints for the hit?

He should have been sent off and should get at least 4 weeks. Remember Blair got a week for pulling someone's leg!!

Young Groat has not been the same since he was smashed in a similar attack to the head.

This so called shoulder charge should be banned and quickly, before someone is very seriously hurt.

God help me some people do not have a clue.

No…learn to read, where does it say I think saints are to blame???

I think GODs already helped you, you been touched col'n...a 'special' one

Ease up Col, your the one coming across as not having a bloody clue mate. He should have been sent off? What a joke. GI's intentions were to belt the bloke for sure, but not to injure.
GI went for the big play ie: smash the ball runner and dislodge the ball. It wasnt intentionally illegal however ended up being so. Therefore the minimum grading or level 2 at worst should be sufficient. In the end it was unlucky for both players. Certainly not as intentional and destructive as a stiff arm….which we see multiple versions of every weekend.

That being said, shoulder charges are a part of the game but are being less and less utilised as the sucess factor involved with them is so low. A lot of things have got to go your way for a charge to come off effectively and legally. It is a very low percentage tackle and really shouldnt be used often.

1 - 2 weeks would be fair . If u dont like the shoulder charge u might enjoy watching rugby union , they have banned it . I thought it was a great hit by a great player ,althought it did end up high . 1 - 2 weeks would be fair .
It actually got me thinking if he did happen to play and heighno broke the line, as he did last week ,and found himself one on one against the fullback,, would he be able to step inglis as he i coote ?

Hit gone wrong, very dangerous, should get 5 weeks but will probably only get 2\. Hit someone in the jaw and they'll get knocked out, good thing the old cricket pitches are no more. Tough isn't an excuse and hitting someone in the head isn't tough. Inglis didn't have to race in an put on the shoulder in the context of the play, a simple wrapping tackle is more than enough. Poor judgement, poor execution led to an illegal and dangerous play.

I like shoulder charges but when they go wrong they should be punished. Running in like that at speed and jumping and pushing upward into the head is every bit as dangerous as a swinging arm. The fact a shoulder charge to the head might only get 1-2 and a swinging arm 4-5 is ridiculous.
To save the shoulder charge the penalty for one gone wrong needs to become more severe, then players will have to time and execute them properly.

Another week, another team who lost a player for the majority of the game due to concussion from illegal high contact.

Spot on, Inglis is 40 metres back when Young makes that break, thats ages to make a decision yet he runs in to him up right with his arm raised, planting his forearm on Youngs chest, if T-Rex got 7 for that throw then Inglis should get 7 for this because this is not only just as dangerous probably more but 10x stupider

if this gets ANYTHING less than a grade 3, it will be a very bad precedent for future cases

also, did u see GI after merrin pushed ferrel? he went all up on merrin and pushed him towards dean young who stayed down and there were people all around him.

Sweet! Luke out, Inglis most probably out - now all we need is for Taylor to fall out of bed during the week and Burgess to get injured at training and we should be even sweeter! :stuck_out_tongue:

:roll

I want to know what Merrin was thinking when he went after Farrell?

Merrin almost tripped, then went spastic at Farrell who was just laying there not moving incase he hurt Young. Merrin must have thought Farrell pushed him or something.

That shot was waaaay worse than Teo's on Groat.

Care to expand…elaborate??
Why is it worse?

It is alot worse IMO - Young was neither falling in the tackle or stepping in any direction, Inglis had plenty of time to line him up legitimately. He also launched off the ground, if Young is such a "shortarse" as you say then there is no need to jump at all into him.

Inglis is a coward- he was nowhere to be seen running the ball up in the Rabbitoh's next set after the incident, frightened of retaliation. (Maybe if he was running at women instead he may have had a crack- he is after all fond of beating up sheila's).

If the judiciary are fair dinkum then he should be sitting out the next 4 weeks at least

You might like your players being careful…...I'd prefer to see them going at it full bore 110%
The hysteria here is ...well....hysterical
F2B...your post just highlites your personal hatred of him, hardly unbiased...

His 2nd paragraph is definatly biased but you cant argue with the points he makes in the first one. And i dont think anyone here wants to see players go less than 100% but surely you can realise that 110 kg players going "full bore" as you say into another players head is not in the best interests of players welfare, these blokes need to make a living after the game and they cant do that if there brains are mashed

I think Young being tackled from behind by Farrell I think, makes the whole thing worse, prevents young from using footwork.
Both Young and Inglis were at full pace heading towards each other.....Inglis braced himself for the impact.
Im not saying he should escape suspension.....precedents have already been set

Not good Willow Its a blindside

haha get a clue

I saw it in progress at the game. Nothing wrong with it. Young forgot Inglis was there.
