Inglis hopefully out.

F2B...your post just highlites your personal hatred of him, hardly unbiased...

Stryker: well said.

I just stated a fact: Inglis refused to handle the ball immediately after it happened because he knew he would be belted. I dislike any player that doesn't play for the Tiges, hardly biased against Inglis specifically, just stating a fact.
Why can't anyone on here have an opinion? (just like you did when you stated in another thread that Steve Matai "is the biggest d*** in the game" just last week?).

My favourite all time player was Blocker- so no, I don't prefer my teams players' to be careful. It is great when players are aggressive but when that aggression goes awry then they must face the music-hence Inglis should be rubbed out for a few weeks

I may be pointing out the obvious here but Thats because he is a fullback , a position thats not well know for taking hit ups !!! Inglis made many hit ups aftr the event an even scored a try . Inglis is bigger ,stronger and faster then most players in the nrl and belts playrs at club , origin and test level ,, and its great to watch ,he is no coward . It seems a few people on here are getting pretty emotional

Are you kidding???? You are blaming the Saints for the hit?

He should have been sent off and should get at least 4 weeks. Remember Blair got a week for pulling someone's leg!!

Young Groat has not been the same since he was smashed in a similar attack to the head.

This so called shoulder charge should be banned and quickly, before someone is very seriously hurt.

God help me some people do not have a clue.

Ease up Col, your the one coming across as not having a bloody clue mate. He should have been sent off? What a joke. GUY's intentions were to belt the bloke for sure, but not to injure.
GI went for the big play it: smash the ball runner and dislodge the ball. It wasn't intentionally illegal however ended up being so. Therefore the minimum grading or level 2 at worst should be sufficient. In the end it was unlucky for both players. Certainly not as intentional and destructive as a stiff arm….which we see multiple versions of every weekend.

That being said, shoulder charges are a part of the game but are being less and less utilised as the success factor involved with them is so low. A lot of things have got to go your way for a charge to come off effectively and legally. It is a very low percentage tackle and really shouldn't be used often.

How do you know what was in Inglis's mind?

If you run and jump at someone the way he did, he wasn't going to invite him to lunch.

Wise up. I do not like Union, but they at least have banned this tackle and if you use it you are off. Full stop. The quicker this happens in league the better.

I agree Col, and I have seen nothing in this thread to convince me that that was not a send-off offence.

Inglis says he doesn't think there's too much in it?

I guess that's why he plays footy, NOT TOO SMART?

What do you expect him to say? "Yeah, I wanted to really mess him up, guess I'll just take the suspension". Of COURSE he's going to say there's nothing in it, innocent until proven guilty (he'll be proven guilty, dont worry).

Best not saying a thing shows he has no remorse could lengthen his impending suspension that's why he aint too smart…

The Teo/Groat one's been mentioned, not sure about the Pritchard/Simmons one….but all are similar, and all were NOT send off, all were put on report.

That shot was waaaay worse than Teo's on Groat.

Care to expand…elaborate??
Why is it worse?

It is alot worse IMO - Young was neither falling in the tackle or stepping in any direction, **Inglis had plenty of time to line him up legitimately.** He also launched off the ground, if Young is such a "shortarse" as you say then there is no need to jump at all into him.

Inglis is a coward- he was nowhere to be seen running the ball up in the Rabbitoh's next set after the incident, frightened of retaliation. (Maybe if he was running at women instead he may have had a crack- he is after all fond of beating up sheila's).

If the judiciary are fair dinkum then he should be sitting out the next 4 weeks at least

Obvious youve never played.
The reason he rushed Young, tried to shorten the distance and TIME between himself and Young, was to prevent the offload, which was what was clearly on Youngs mind (him looking around for support)

"Coward for not hitting it up next set" - "running at women"….yet you dislike all opposition players.
Hysteria - give the DT and 2GB a miss

It was careless and contact was made with the head. Penalty was sufficient - definitely not a send off. Matt Priors high tackle was a send off.

Inglis will sit out a couple of weeks probably. And rightfully so.

100% Stryker & I agree Centaur…

The result and what happened after the incident should not come into the debate as far as the judiciary & match review committee goes. The actions of the hit and the impact zone is the only thing which should come under question.

Teo's was a shoulder charges. Pritchard, Simmons ran into his shoulder! I dont think this was a shoulder charge, but more of a body check that GI pulls off regularly. Last night it went wrong... 1-2 Weeks!

Benji Marshall does this same tackle most weeks, but has been LUCKY he has not knocked anyone out yet. Most on here talk up some of the shots when he does em?!

The problem I have with it, and the reason I think it was a send-off, is that it was done at pace. The danger aspect of the tackle is magnified and, in my opinion, there is a greater onus on the tackler to get it right. There is certainly far less excuse for it going wrong as Inglis had a heap of time to make sure he got it right. No problem with contrary opinions, of which there is obviously many.

Do you understand why it was done at pace?
GI is the last line of defence, Young's looking to offload, GI wants to shut it down quick, if Young offloads…Saints score

I wish we had a Fullback who attacks the ball carrier rather than standing on their Heels!

Ink I see nothing wrong with it. I'd be surprised if he gets suspended. Personally I don't know what people expect, it's just one of those things that happen. If young remembered and/or judged Inglis run, he would have been able to prepare for the hit and brace himself. Tell me Ink.

Yes he had to make a tackle at pace to shut the play down, but how about using his arms to wrap the ball up? Just because he had to stop him from offloading does not excuse the way he did it

How long do you think he should be rubbed out for?

Personally i think this is their chance to get rid of the shoulder charge for good, id say 5 weeks. I mean lets be realistic here, people are calling for the bloke who punched Tom Kelly in the cross to be put in jail for 20 years but then we turn around and say its perfectly fine for 110 kg man to launch his shoulder into the face of another man, and claim we don't want to be soft. Where is the logic in that?

Whatever he gets i reckon he'll go for the downgrade.
Why?
Because the judicary is full of ex souths players.
