Personally i think we have recruited very well every player we signed has the potential to make it in first grade. Very excited to see Rod Griffin in our colours and I think Rankin could be our next Austin. No major losses apart from Te Maire.

I also hope Rowe stays, not too fussed over Dene, i think Joel Edwards can do the job but in saying that i wouldn't complain if he goes around for one more.

There's that magic word 'potential' again. Would've been nice to actually sign one or two, who had already proven themselves capable of playing regular first grade, but I know, I know… we have NO money for such individuals.

I thought Dene had a fine season, but I can't see the club spending decent money on him if they think Cherrington can play 80 minutes.

hope a couple of rowe, santi, milone and funaki are re-signed.

halatau is a MUST

I always thought that Halatau was there for next year. Didn't realise he wasn't till I read this thread. I thought he went well at times this year. Would like to see him there for another season.

Straight from the horse's mouth on TV last night, Dene said he still isn't contracted for next year, but he is hoping to get it sorted soon so he can relax a bit.

When asked the question about recent allegations that Robbie was disliked by some players and caused division within the playing group he answered that all the players love him and don't have any problem with him at all. He said that Robbie was very passionate and would get angry sometimes at his own lack of performance or at losing games, but that's just who he is and he is respected by everyone in the team - just thought I'd throw that in.

I agree, given the circumstances I think we have recruited well. None of our signing would've broken the (piggy) bank & all have "potential". Really keen to see how our signings from Qld cup go. They seemed to carve up there & that is a stronger comp than the NSW cup.

Would also like to see us re-sign Andy Fiagatusa, Salesi Funaki & Dene Halatau.

Does this mean we'll have our books in order to make some big signings in 2017 or are we just preparing to have enough cash to re-sign our young stars?

We have no players contracted past 2017, i guess the plan is to have everyone off contract and sign whoever we like. We will see the majority of our players leaving after that season.

I think it's just purely due to the fact that the salary cap increases by 4 or 5 million or whatever it is starting 2018\. For most players signing into 2018 and beyond now would be silly given player wages will be increasing considerably. The only players who should be signing now are the bottom tier or ones who are happy to just have a contract secured. Similar to how NBA players will position themselves so that they will become free agents when a new collective bargaining agreement is due to be made and the salary cap increases, they are then able to negotiate a new contract for an increased value.

Glad you threw that in Flip. Some of us knew this already. Some still refuse to believe it…

As coach, JT said at the start of his tenure, there will be no major signings until 2017\. The board and coach are adhering to their strategy and plan without deviation, which they must be given credit. The duration of these signings are evidence, that the destruction of the Weststigers is complete now and ready for the rebuilding phase from 2017.

Will we be competitive next year? Who knows? If we make the 8, JT should be given the key to the city! You have to hand it to the new coach and administration, they are definitely implementing the tough decisions. Go Weststigers!

They're doing what people have been crying out for for yrs. taking accountability. Then it happens and people don't like it. I think supporters can get as cosy as the players with how their club is being run, regardless if it's successful or not. Then when someone comes in and shakes things up people complain. Change scares them.
