"There's no doubt that we've got to do something in our recruitment area. We're looking to improve our depth rather than our main roster," Sheens said.

Anyone care to take a stab and explain whats happening here?

easy
anasta is depth for moltzen
pettybourne, thompson are depth for blair
buchanan is the exception and is going to be chucked in as a starting prop because it's the right thing to do

I dont like Ellis being in the Outs column as this infers that The coach pushed him out.

Gareth was always open about his desire to close out his career back home in the UK.

Wow how soft….you know the truth, believe in it & yourself for christs sake!

I'm guessing he is concerned with his fringe players trying to read into that

Problem is that the main squad couldn't win a chook raffle even if they bought all the tickets

Sheens is off with the pixies anyway , the reason it takes him so long on Tuesdays to name the squad is that he names the 2005 GF side and someone has to explain to him its 2012 not 2005

Didn't someone from the club come out before the start of the season & say it's the best depth that we have had? if so i'll take it as an admission, that we got that call wrong. What's the point of having depth, if you fail to drop players for poor form & continue to play players out of position when ever we've had injuries/suspensions.

We have good depth in some positions but terrible depth in others. Take the wing for example. This year we had Utai, Tuquiri, Ryan, Koroibete, Reddy, Grant plus others if required.

Unfortunately in other positions we had none, like centre (Lawrence, Ayshford and….?)

We've signed Anasta Pettybourne Thompson and possibly Kite. None of them play centre so what has the Sheenius achieved?

Just like last year - three props gone, one prop in. Then we have to sign one mid-season.

This year, we're losing two props (Moors and Cashy), and we've signed one U20s prop. Sheenius

Do we get a pensioner discount on the salary cap next year? We have gone from a young and exciting team to an inconsistent team who can't attack or defend full of with an ageing roster .. Am i the only one that doesn't understand or recruitment policy?

If the rumours are all true, how have we gone from a young team to an ageing roster?

I agree with Granto - we're becoming a bit of a retirement village. Cashmere, Anasta, Kite - all guys around or over 30 years old. Our recruitment is going backwards

Well Cashmere has retired.

So we recruit Thompson/Pettybourne/Buchanon, throw in young guys like Tedesco/Koro/Nofoaluma etc

How have we increased our average age?

Not just all of a sudden, but over the years. Our roster is getting older with a few close to 30 and 4 or 5 over 30, imo you hit your prime at 28 i am just concerned about injuries etc mounting up on our top 25.

There is also rumors Kite is coming in, if everything we are hearing is true I guess the 2013 team would be

1\. Tedesco
2\. Utai
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Koriobete
6\. Marshall
7\. Moltzen
8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Blair
12\. Fulton
13\. Anasta

14\. Kite
15\. Pettybourne
16\. Murdoch-Masela
17\. Thompson

Could be another long season.

IMHO the only criteria shall be 'are you good enough?', and forget about their age. For instance, if Bell is one of our best forwards, do we want to force him out just because of his age?
How about Minichiello vs Moltzen?
Or Warne vs Doherty :bash ?

I'm not sure about buchanan because i heard yesterday i read an article on fox about sheens being interviewed by the warriors and it also said the tigers are close to signing brent kite from manly for two years. I guess we will wait and see.

Of course you get older over the years, people don't stay the same age.
