Interested in getting cheaper Foxtel for NRL Season?

So some of you would have read the NRL app thread and it brought me to what I think is a pretty decent idea.

Foxtel Play is a service that allows you to have a Foxtel subscription on X-Box, PC, Mac etc. Basically internet based Foxtel. Foxtel also offer a service for subscribers called Foxtel Go. With Foxtel Play, subscribers are able to register to three other devices (but only use 2 at a time). That means you can take your Foxtel out with you on IPad, iPhone and Android devices.

Basically what this allows us to do, is get in groups of threes and chip in for one Foxtel Play account and gives each of us discount Foxtel throughout the NRL season. All it means is that while one of you can have it on the PC, the other two would only be able to watch it on their mobile or tablet. With Apple TV and Chromecast though, you would be able to stream your tablet and/or mobile device through the TV if you want, up to you really.

The minimum cost is $50 per month as you must have one of the "genre packs" before you can add the sports pack. There are four genre packs, a sports pack and a movies pack. https://www.foxtel.com.au/foxtelplay/build/package?execution=e1s1

If you're keen put your name down here as well as your preferred genre pack (so you can go in a group with other posters who also want that genre pack) and whether you want to be an account holder or just be a Go subscriber, meaning you only want to be able to watch on mobile or tablet. I think the fairest way to do it is to have the main subscriber get their laptop/PC/smart TV access + one device and the other two leech off it to get ipad, mobile device with the main subscriber paying 50% of the bill and the other two paying 25% each or something like that.

I'm down for kids pack and happy to be a main subscriber or a Go sub.

I suppose it would also work for a proper subscription if the main subscriber just wanted to do it that way, or if you ARE a person who already has an account and wants to sell a Foxtel Go sub post that too.

Yup, i'm very interested. I only want the sports, and maybe the channel with the footy shows on (nrl 360, summertime, those interview ones basically) if it doesnt cost too much extra.

I'd be okay watching it on my tablet too, probably will invest in a chromecast or a 10 inch tablet, just got a small one atm.

you can be the main subscriber if you want mac, since it was your idea you probably deserve the most out of the package.

Calling this legal is not correct. Foxtel's terms of service do not permit such arrangements.

Never mind found where. If this is illegal then this thread is against forum TOS so I'll have to request mods delete it. Sorry guys.

Actually, these two conditions make it a little less appealing

"You will be unable to view any live TV or Catch Up on a jailbroken or rooted device as it’s without standard protection requirements.
Foxtel Go does not support AirPlay, Mirroring or HDMI adapters."

might just grab the NRL live subscription to be honest

In the other thread someone showed you how you can make Foxtel Go work with Airplay. I suppose if you have a jailbroken device then that's an issue.

The other thread shows you how to do it with Airparrot. Not Airplay. You need to purchase Airparrot. Only works through Mac or PC not Tablets.

Foxtel go blocks hdmi out from apple and android devices. A pc on the other hand can just use hdmi out straight to a tv.

Actually I just downloaded Foxtel Play and as soon as I plug in hdmi it blocks the signal lol.

Airparrot works. Download a trial version first if your not sure.

What $50 a month deal ??

Mines $69 a month with the sports package only :rant

I have Foxtel Go on my MacBook Air, and can watch it on my TV when plugging in via HDMI. Unfortunately this doesn't work on the iPad.
