Is Madge delusional?

I will add Russell Packer to that. Did anyone notice in the lead up to the Roosters second try, Tedesco ran straight past Packer who was ambling back to the defensive line with his back facing the Roosters. Tedesco must have been licking his lips. Under 8's you are taught not to turn your back on the opposition in defence. It's not the first time I've seen his lazy attitude cost us.

I reckon he also got in the way of another defender who was aiming up.

Get the scourer out and see if we can make it shine again ?

I agree with the view that a few have been tapped on the shoulder. I hope he makes some changes now that the finals are gone.

He is more delusional with the squads he has been picking
Also having our team play ‘defensive’ football
The best we looked last night was when we threw the ball around

I have said it before, when JRey is in the halves with Brooks the team looks far better, the centres get ball and we become a go forward team...
The old adage when I was playing.give the ball some air and let your speedy players run onto the ball with good momentum...but thats just me...

100% agree ??
Give the centres nice early ball, they can set something up
I'd like to see that too, but decent oppositions know that if they get up in our face, we don't have a Lomax, Staggs, Manu or J-Moz who can beat their defender 1-on-1. Our centres, as you say, need early ball, but they have to be in motion. I'm all for bodies in motion, so long as they're moving forward. But again, a fast defensive line snuffs this out before, for example, Joey Leilua can build up momentum or pick a line to run.
I've noticed how often Douihei gets caught with the ball when he pops up in the back-line. Perhaps we set deeper and run plays where we get someone running off his shoulder so he can ball-play...he has a nice touch. A little bit more space, and by extension, more time, broadens his options of run, pass or kick. The more opportunities he gets to try different things, the more he keeps the defence guessing and the more potent in attack he becomes.
Madge is fighting an up-hill battle at the atm, the last thing he wants to do is totally alienate his playing group by ragging on them publicly. As others have stated, he needs to show composure and a united front to the media...but away from that, you've gotta think he's telling it like it is.

I think what you are saying is all crap. Nothing is cooking,
however the axe is being sharpened for players that will
not be here in 2021.

And what would you like that to actually achieve? Get rid of another coach and start again? It isn't the coach, it's the players. If they don't want to play they can leave.

Man I hope so. Some of these guys are just losers who are keen to coast along as much as they can. A lot of them only care about the money and clout of being an NRL player. These guys weren't born loving footy, they just happened to be good at it. If they had to play for free, they would be plying their talents through another medium. Except Reynolds of course - it's not his fault Ivan Cleary offerred him 1.5x more money and a 2x longer deal than any other club - he would be the guy playing any level of footy cause he loves it.

I also get a horrible feeling that Madge will do something crazy like say "if we don't make the eight in 2021, I won't request an extension". The job of being the head coach of Wests Tigers is simply too hard. I don't know who can do it. Even Bellamy would struggle to get us anywhere.

He’s not delusional, he’s a good coach but he couldn’t lie straight in bed - some of his team critiques are not honest and he basically says what people want to hear - behind the scenes he is sharpening the axe and the dead wood will be moved on but I think he should say want he is thinking, we need to know the direction we are heading - the smoke and mirrors illusion show is not working, sideshow alley is defunct.

Ok. So we suspect that all off contract players won’t be resigned.
McQueen
Eisenhuth ?
Taylor
McIntrye ?
Seyfarth
Jennings
Marshall ?

To name the prominent ones.

Now with these players clearly not excelling in our team they are likely to be odds on not much to be attractive to other teams and will struggle to continue their careers on anything near to their existing salaries let alone in the NRL.

Most will be picking up min to 200k contracts at other teams, even the bad 2020 teams.

What does that say for their tactics of sticking around?

Could it hopefully paint a picture of an unfavourable outcome for Josh Reynolds and Russell Packer if they decide to pick up their pay with us next year?

I’d be keeping McIntyre for sure, this guy plays with intensity.

No we need Maguire. I’d like to see some decisions made with players We don’t want and some strategic recruitment that will set us up for success.

Madge should look at Payten, he has a team of bits and pieces who are level with us and play a more exciting and controlled game. This is quite alarming when you think about it, our side is not great, but Madge isn’t helping either with his actions not backing up his words

Paul Kent: Broncos can learn from different trajectories of Panthers and Wests Tigers
The Broncos, for the first time in the club’s 33 year history, will have to learn the hard way of how to rebuild a roster - and they have two interesting case studies in Wests Tigers and Panthers, PAUL KENT writes.
Penrith and Wests Tigers finished on the same competition points last year and, despite their genetic similarities, have never been so close since.

The Panthers, it has since emerged, were on their way to the top of the ladder. They lead the NRL competition by three points, with five rounds to play, and have strongarmed their way into premiership favouritism.

The Tigers, we now feel kidded to accept, were on their way to purgatory again. They are like a high school kiss; promise and frustration, all at once.
The Tigers finished 2019 in their traditional position of ninth, on 24 points, and occupy the same postcode again, absolutely refusing to budge.

Penrith were a touch behind on for and against last year but, in the almost 12 months since, have played to their talents so strongly, former skipper Greg Alexander was recently spotted dusting off his old drink vouchers at Panthers in the hopes the premiership drought is set to be busted.

As the buzzards circled Brisbane on Monday in anticipation of coach Anthony Seibold’s resignation, the Broncos could do well to look at the fortunes of both clubs for clues on how to navigate their way out of trouble.

For some years now, the Tigers have promised to break from their teasing ways but the moment a little acid got applied this season, they showed they were still comfortable in mediocrity and rolled over to get their tummies tickled.

****They seem quite comfortable not making the finals.
Coach Michael Maguire called a player into his office at a crucial point this season and tried to get an understanding why the player failed to contribute to the gameplay the way the coach preferred, which obviously drew an unsatisfactory response.

Still, Maguire was eager to hear his defence.

“You don’t coach the way I like to play,” admitted the player.

Maguire had two choices at this. He could reach across and slowly throttle the player, simultaneously removing the player from his roster but with the added benefit of also creating considerable salary cap relief, or he could take the more diplomatic approach, which isn’t generally regarded as a strong point.
“How many finals games have you played?” asked the coach, who finally chose the latter, the jury still out whether it was for the better.

“None,” said the player.

“Well, how about you try it my way.”****

The article then proceeds to keep talking about the Broncos.

It would seem some attitudes never change. I wonder who it was?
